Travaasa Austin in Austin, Texas

Travaasa Austin may be only 30 minutes from the capital, but in Hill Country it's a different world completely. Come to Travaasa – which derives its name from travel and pravaasa, the Sanskrit word for "memorable journey" – for self-discovery and for meaningful, authentic experiences with Texans who want to share their beloved countryside. Come to feel the wind in your hair while hiking through a field of bluebells, to become one with your breath in a grove of anacua trees, and to Texas Two-Step under the stars.

Heal your soul with the spa's essential oils and plant-based treatments. Dig into a plate of French toast made from agave-sweetened polenta and cabernet cranberries. As the sun bakes the rugged hills, take a hike with an ecologist through shaded trails to Lake Travis, learning about the area's flora and fauna. Strike up a bond with a Palomino filly, taking her for a gentle ride as chickens scurry through the fields of the organic farm. Cuddle up by the fire pit with a bottle of wine.

I spent 3 days at Travaasa as part of my company's offsite. It's a small resort - maybe 60 rooms or so, - but the grounds are quite large. It's pretty remote - I don't think there's anything else within 5 miles and it's gated so you have to buzz for entry each time you enter the property. The staff at check-in were very friendly and helpful. I had some materials in my car for the event and the guy working dropped them off at the conference room for me which was above and beyond. The room was very spacious with a sunny sitting area, large bathroom, and comfy king bed. There was lots of natural light and it felt very private. The view from the balcony was of some beautiful greenery. In the mornings I could hear the birds chirping and it was a great way to start the day. I was a little surprised by the condition of a few items in the room which were very worn and stained. I understand the sofa because that's expensive to reupholster or replace, but the lampshade would be so easy to replace. The bathroom also needed a more thorough cleaning. The floor corners had cobwebs and little dirt clumps. The meeting facility was very nice and while I didn't do the planning, I heard from those who did that the planning/event staff was excellent and the AV/sound guy, Russell, that they had onsite was incredibly friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. The food at the conference center was excellent. In fact, I ate food from the restaurant both nights and the food at the conference center was way better. The restaurant was very expensive and the food was not good. For me that was the biggest disappointment. I was also surprised to find that they don't have room service or even an in-room minibar. The hotel grounds are quite large. We didn't partake in all of the activities they offer, but there are a ton of things to do. When I checked in I received a schedule of the activities for the next 2 days. One improvement would be if housekeeping could leave the schedule for the next day in the room each night. I did not have a chance to use many of the facilities, but the pool and fitness center looked very nice. The view from the pool is really a highlight. Checkout was a breeze. The staff here are really what makes the experience and both staff members who assisted me with luggage politely declined tips stating they were included. It's rare to find an all-inclusive that truly means that. Overall I had a good experience but I was expecting it to be a little more luxurious given the price. I would definitely recommend this place for a corporate offsite but not sure I'd say the same if I had to pay the $500+ out of my pocket.

My husband and I stayed here for one night during a trip to Austin simply because we had loved the Travaasa Hana so much, and, unfortunately, we were a bit disappointed with our stay at the Travaasa Austin. I'll start with the good: the property has amazing views of Lake Travis and is located in a beautiful and secluded part of Austin. That being said, not much else was all that spectacular, particularly considering how much we had paid to stay here. The service was so-so and the activities we wanted to do almost all seemed filled before we had a chance to sign-up for them. We did get to do hatchet-throwing, and that was a fun experience. The on-site restaurant was just okay, and the hotel is incredibly far from other restaurants, so keep that in mind if you plan on staying here. One small other note, be prepared to really be one with nature at this resort, as we had several bug encounters in our room during our stay - much to our dismay. Perhaps we would have enjoyed this trip more if we had had more time to stay here, but, we only stayed in the Travaasa Hana for one night as well and that hotel experience blew us away. So, perhaps the Travaasa team should look into ways to improve this experience, as we left with no plans to return.

The resort was gorgeous & the views were breathtaking. There are plenty of activities to keep you busy and the infinity pool is to die for. The lack of directional signs for activities & lack of room lighting are the only things keeping this from getting 5 stars. Definitely on the expensive end but if you're wanting to get away to a resort with gorgeous views, this place is for you.

Just left travassa and had a great time on a girls spa weekend. Accommodations were great, beds comfortable, and room amenities were good. We had the all inclusive package which is absolutely worth it. Spa credits were used for a facial with Sheila and a body wrap with Janice. The spa is unreal and the treatments were top notch. Pool is beautiful and staff is very friendly. Food was healthy and tasted great, I love my food. Service was very accommodating and friendly especially Emily but kitchen was very slow (not any of the wait staffs fault). I would recommend this hotel. They are changing/renovating to a Mirival resort in September so if you have the opportunity, I would recommended staying at travassa Austin. It was a great visit.

One of the best hotel experiences I have had. The grounds were nicely maintained and in a very peaceful area right outside of Austin. There are lots of amazing activities already include with the price such as the giant swing, archery class, biking and ropes course just to name a few. Pool area was beautiful. Rooms were very clean and spacious and the staff were accommodating and friendly. Definitely worth another visit.
