Skirting the waters of Lake Massawippi, on a peninsula in Quebec's Eastern Townships region, is the remarkable Ripplecove Lakefront Hotel. Opened in 1945, the resort has been expanded and renovated over the years resulting in AAA Four-Diamond Award status since 1987. The rooms are heavenly retreats filled with plush furnishings, original artwork and hardwood floors - some rooms equipped with fireplaces and private balconies. The only other place on the property to rivals the comfort of these private sanctuaries is the refined full-service spa, with its sublime selection of massages, body treatments and facials.

The resort's Victorian dining room offers lakeside dining and a menu of French and international fare. Illuminated by candlelight and the gentle sounds of live classical music provided by the resident pianist, guests are privy to a truly luxurious experience. For a more casual place to snack and imbibe, plant yourself inside Nag's Head Pub, located just steps away. Ripplecove had amazing sevmrvice, was situated on a great lake and had plentynif activities. The food and drink was great, but very expensive, more so than 5 star restaurants in Quebec City where we had just come from. The suite we had was perfect for a family of 4. Spa prices were reasonable, but more services and more staff would have made it simpler to book.

We arrived at Ripplecove at night so I didn't get to see the lake before morning time. What a beautiful surprise it was waking up to that view! We also had breakfast at the hotel as well. Luckily the weather was nice so we were able to enjoy a Crepe and eggs Benedict by the lake. I would highly recommend the Eggs Benedict to anyone who is eating brunch there as it was DELICIOUS! I am hoping to visit again so that I can take more advantage of all the recreational activities they offer!

Had a great weekend here in a lakefront room. Dining room was excellent for both breakfast and dinner. The spa was very good, maybe one of the best massages I've ever had. Very quiet. Weather was cool and rainy when we were there but sitting in the balcony having a glass of wine on a sunny evening would be fantastic.

Very pleased with beauty, location, quiet, cleanliness, size of the room, high quality of the toiletries, service, friendliness of the staff -- very cooperative before and during the stay. Personal attention. Highly recommend it.

The Ripplecove definitely gets a 5* for the view, the service and the cleanliness. However, we stayed at many 4* hotels that offer better rooms with great bathrooms. The food was a bit of a disappointment and overpriced. It was not worth what we paid for. The good: Beautiful hotel in a fantastic setting with well-maintained grounds. Very peaceful with a stunning view of the lake. Very clean room. Fantastic service at the hotel and the restaurant. Very professional and kind staff. Very nice atmosphere at the restaurant and eating on the veranda is extremely pleasant with the stunning view. Not so good: Access to the hotel entrance with luggage is very difficult for people with disabilities and there is no valet service to carry luggage up and down the stairs upon arrival and departure. The superior room was very small. The most disappointing element was the bathroom which is very small and in need of an update. There is a pedestal sink with a loose handle and there is hardly any space to put toiletries except for a 5 inch wide shelf (therefore no space for glasses or hair dryer). Secondly, the jaccuzi did not work (the hotel should offer a rebate when something is not working). The shower is in the jaccuzi so it is very hard to get in. The small and non-directional shower head in the jaccuzi forces you to get very close to the wall to shower properly. I would highly recommend that the shower head be replaced by a more recent hand shower. And thirdly, the view from the balcony is beautiful but the balcony is very very small. There is enough space for 2 chairs only. You have to squeeze in to get to the chairs and there are branches blocking the view of the lake. Dinner: Limited choice. Presentation was fabulous but the sweetbread with green peas was bland. Breakfast: For $25 per person, you do not get everything that is advertised on the web site: no granola, no yogurt. The eggs benedict with smoked salmon had a strong taste of fish. Good smoked salmon is so good, nothing like this one. French toasts were great. The crepe was tasty but it is for small appetite (on the menu on the web site, it is written "crepes" but you get only one). We were extremely disappointed with the "eggs prepared as you like". The yolk was perfect but the white was crusty. And guess what, they were served with frozen hash brown potatoes. This is not acceptable in a restaurant that has won a 4 Diamond Award from CAA. The bacon was hard and not tasty. The coffee tastes the same as in any restaurant and you have to pay extra for a specialty coffee such as cappuccino, espresso, etc. We have been in B&Bs, 3* and 4* hotel restaurants which offer as many cappuccinos as you like at no additional cost.
