Surrounded by nothing but turquoise lagoon which melts into sapphire blue, the Maldives luxury resort island of Anantara Kihavah and its pure white sands rise up out of the ocean like a mirage. For centuries, this was where Arab traders sailing to the Far East took shelter; a lush paradise blessed by coconut, papaya and mango trees. Navigating archipelago to archipelago by the stars, the seafarers were also drawn by the riches of the ocean surrounding the island – where a prehistoric volcano sank back into the depths, leaving blooming corals within a house reef and a wealth of lagoon fish. Wishing to keep the pristine nature of the island intact, not one tree has been moved – as evidenced by the villas growing up around them. The design pays homage to the seafarers of old, fusing Indian Ocean, Arab and Portuguese motifs with indigenous materials. Located on the Baa Atoll in a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, Anantara Kihavah Maldives Villas invites you to imagine your own barefoot luxury paradise. Savour the luxury of space in your private pool beach villa or over water villa. Snorkel with mantas and Hawksbill sea turtles. Stargaze into the night. Dine on a deserted sandbank or beneath the ocean’s surface at this enchanting sanctuary

We truly enjoyed our stay at this hotel. It was our first visit, and we paid close attention to every detail, having previously stayed at several other excellent resorts in the Maldives. We were travelling as a family with children, so our priorities were clear: plenty of engaging experiences for the children, a spectacular house reef, excellent food, and service of the highest standard. The hotel fully met our expectations in every respect. What deserves special recognition, however, is the extraordinary personal involvement of the hotel’s new General Manager. It was a genuine pleasure interacting with him. He went out of his way to show us the very best the resort had to offer, responded thoughtfully to every request, and did everything possible to make our stay truly special. When our son celebrated his birthday, the General Manager arranged a series of beautiful and thoughtful surprises that made the occasion genuinely unforgettable for our entire family. We are experienced and rather discerning travellers, so it is not easy to impress us. Yet his warmth, initiative, and attention to detail elevated our whole experience to another level. Luxury hotels need more leaders like him — people who transform excellent service into lasting memories. We would be delighted to return and wholeheartedly recommend this hotel!

We had a wonderful stay at Anantara Kihavah with my husband and truly enjoyed every moment of it. The resort is absolutely beautiful, with stunning surroundings, excellent restaurants, and exceptional food quality. What impressed us the most was the level of service. Every request was handled immediately, and the staff were always incredibly attentive and helpful. We felt that every little detail was taken into consideration, and all our wishes were fulfilled with genuine care. Thank you to the entire team for making our stay so special and memorable. We would be very happy to return!

There are no words that can explain how amazing this resort is. The beauty of the Maldives needs no explanation but the resort and amenities are second to none. We stayed in an over water villa and enjoyed all the restaurants, the spa and multiple experiences including the spa, the manta and turtle snorkelling trips, dining on the beach and the drone photography and each and every one took our breath away. Sea is definitely worth multiple visits as the sea life varies at different times of the day, the theatre of teppanyaki at Fire is incredibly entertaining and whilst the food at Spice and Manzaru doesn’t disappoint either, the bar staff (Rahul and Champok) make the best cocktails to your taste with a fantastic smile to go with it. On that subject, the staff are a huge part of the experience and made our holiday extra special. Chef Daniel and Sugar run a tight ship…..nothing is too much trouble and both great guys. Our Villa host, Ifoo, was beyond attentive, super friendly and made everything happen just perfectly….a legend and now a true friend. The same quality runs through all staff though including Radio, Saad and Chelsea (Manzaru), Chef Noon (Spice), Amel (Sky Bar), Thas (Dive guide), Little Brother - Kuda-bah (think that’s the correct spelling for the gem in housekeeping), Chompi, Jon-Jun, Sukma, Sashi…..the list goes on and on. All amazing people that can never do enough for you! First class service….thank you 🙏🏻

Our stay at Anantara Kihavah was truly exceptional and easily one of the most memorable resort experiences we’ve had in the Maldives. From the moment we arrived, the level of service, attention to detail and genuine warmth from the entire team stood out. A special mention must go to our wonderful butler, whose service was incredible throughout our stay. He was attentive, thoughtful and always one step ahead of us, making everything feel effortless. The cleaning staff took wonderful care of our room. Our water bungalow was fantastic beautifully designed, spacious, extremely comfortable and with a very practical layout. The room servicing was consistently impeccable. The house reef is absolutely incredible — exceptionally healthy, vibrant and full of marine life. For anyone who loves snorkelling and the ocean, this is a very special place. The island itself is also beautifully maintained while retaining a wonderfully natural character. It is incredibly green and lush, with orchids and tropical plants throughout the island, which we absolutely loved. The food was magnificent. Every meal was memorable, and the restaurant teams were exceptionally warm, professional, attentive and genuinely welcoming. The Sea restaurant was a particular highlight for us, with a spectacular setting and fantastic dining experience. We also loved the cultural dance performance at Sky Bar, which added such a wonderful sense of Maldivian culture and atmosphere to the evening. The water sports and excursions team were equally impressive. Everyone we met was friendly, knowledgeable, informative and incredibly attentive. They made us feel completely comfortable while helping us get the most out of the incredible marine environment surrounding the resort. It was wonderful to see that this level of care extends right through the senior management of the resort. Overall, Anantara Kihavah exceeded our expectations in every way. The combination of outstanding service, beautiful accommodation, exceptional food, an incredible house reef and a naturally lush island makes this resort truly special. A huge thank you to the Anantara Kihavah team for making our stay so unforgettable. We would absolutely return and highly recommend Anantara Kihavah to anyone looking for a truly exceptional Maldivian experience.

My husband, 23 year old daughter and I have just enjoyed a blissful week at gorgeous Anantara Kihavah. For context, we have stayed at 9 other Maldivian resorts. The island is spectacularly beautiful - gorgeous jungly interior with majestically tall palms, all beautifully maintained, ringed by a soft sand beach and then by a truly exceptional reef. The reef circles the whole island and the coral is diverse, abundant and healthy. It is a very fishy reef. On most snorkelling jaunts we saw a turtle or two and a shark or two. We saw a couple of eels and three octopuses during our stay, and frequently saw rays around our water villa. The water villas are absolutely beautifully designed, particularly the decks. Very comfortable bed and bedding and quiet and efficient aircon. The bathroom was gorgeous. We were on Half Board. Breakfast at Plates was great, particularly the large selection of tropical fruits and à la carte dishes were beautifully prepared. We ate dinner at Manzaru and Spice, both had extensive menus (though quite a number of dishes were at a surcharge for HB guests) and we thought the food was of very good indeed. We also had the fish/seafood buffet on the Thursday evening, which was excellent, albeit a $100 a head supplement. The real highlight of our holiday was lunch at the underwater SEA restaurant. As divers we did not expect to be blown away by the experience of seeing the reef that close up but we absolutely were - the food was seriously good too! We enjoyed a private stargazing session at the observatory which is well worth doing if the sky is clear - the telescope is very high quality. Service was prompt, cheerful and efficient. We were particularly impressed that our room attendant always managed to time his visits for when we were at breakfast or dinner and the standards of cleanliness were exemplary. Many thanks to our lovely butler Harnie for making all arrangements for us!
