Surrounded by nothing but turquoise lagoon which melts into sapphire blue, the Maldives luxury resort island of Anantara Kihavah and its pure white sands rise up out of the ocean like a mirage. For centuries, this was where Arab traders sailing to the Far East took shelter; a lush paradise blessed by coconut, papaya and mango trees. Navigating archipelago to archipelago by the stars, the seafarers were also drawn by the riches of the ocean surrounding the island – where a prehistoric volcano sank back into the depths, leaving blooming corals within a house reef and a wealth of lagoon fish. Wishing to keep the pristine nature of the island intact, not one tree has been moved – as evidenced by the villas growing up around them. The design pays homage to the seafarers of old, fusing Indian Ocean, Arab and Portuguese motifs with indigenous materials. Located on the Baa Atoll in a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, Anantara Kihavah Maldives Villas invites you to imagine your own barefoot luxury paradise. Savour the luxury of space in your private pool beach villa or over water villa. Snorkel with mantas and Hawksbill sea turtles. Stargaze into the night. Dine on a deserted sandbank or beneath the ocean’s surface at this enchanting sanctuary

We had an amazing stay at Anantara Kihavah. Everything was wonderful, the villas are beautiful, and the whole resort has such a relaxing atmosphere. Everyone we met was friendly and welcoming, and the service was excellent throughout our stay. We’d especially like to thank Piyal for being so kind, helpful, and always making sure everything was perfect. It was a pleasure getting to know him. Thank you to the entire team for making our trip so special. We left with amazing memories and would definitely love to come back someday.

First of all, a huge thank you to the security team. My sister lost her gold ring on the beach, and honestly we’d already accepted that it was gone. Somehow they managed to find it in the sand, which couldn’t have been easy. We really appreciate the effort. This was our 8th trip to the Maldives, and we’ve stayed at some of the best resorts here, including Joali, The Ritz-Carlton and others. In terms of the island itself, this is easily the most beautiful one we’ve been to. The reef is also the best we’ve experienced. We snorkel a lot, and the amount of marine life here is incredible. Sharks, rays, turtles, huge schools of fish - every snorkel was amazing. The villas are also beautiful, especially the outdoor deck, and overall the resort itself is stunning. Unfortunately, one thing really ruined the experience for us, and it was something so small and so easily fixable: the way water is handled. We stayed on half board, and we also found that many dinner items, especially seafood and higher-protein dishes, came with supplements. While that’s disappointing, we understand that’s the hotel’s pricing policy. What we didn’t like was the water. At dinner, before you’ve even ordered your food, they’re already trying to put bottled water on your table. Naturally, you assume they’re giving you the standard option. A few days later, we found out there’s actually a larger 1L bottle that’s cheaper than the smaller 700ml bottle they’d been serving us the whole time. Nobody tells you this unless you specifically ask. Why not simply ask guests which one they’d prefer? It honestly felt like they were trying to squeeze every extra dollar possible out of you. Then breakfast is the complete opposite. Nobody offers you water. You get one glass if you ask for it, and nobody refills it unless you ask again. It’s hard not to notice the difference. At dinner they’re constantly trying to sell you bottled water, while at breakfast they almost avoid serving water altogether. After paying well over $30,000 for our stay, it honestly made us feel like we were still being nickel-and-dimed over something as basic as water. It’s such a small thing for the resort, but it left such a big negative impression on us. Aside from that, most of our stay was genuinely good. There were a few service issues here and there, like longer buggy waits than expected, breakfast orders taking a while or occasionally coming out wrong, but those things honestly weren’t the main issue. The island itself is incredible. The reef is probably the best we’ve ever seen, the villas are beautiful, and the facilities are excellent. That’s why it’s such a shame. If they simply fixed little things like the water situation and paid a bit more attention to the guest experience, this would easily be one of the best resorts in the Maldives. Right now, that’s unfortunately the thing we’ll remember most from our stay, and it really didn’t need to be that way.

We have stayed in both over-water and land villas and both are very good but over-water was just amazing! The food is tasty, we were feeling safe, all was clean. Perfect service. Amazing island with stunning views and nature!

Snorkeling here is amazing. I saw all kinds of fish and adorable sea turtles. The food at the restaurant was delicious too—mango sticky rice and chocolate lava cake were my favorite desserts. The underwater restaurant SEA was absolutely stunning; the food was great, and it was thrilling to see sharks and manta rays.

My husband and I spent two unforgettable weeks at Anantara Kihavah Maldives for our honeymoon, and the experience exceeded all our expectations. From the moment we arrived until our departure, everything was simply perfect. The resort is stunning, the overwater villas are beautiful, and the island itself is a true paradise. We enjoyed every moment of our stay, from relaxing on our villa to exploring the many activities offered by the resort. What truly made our honeymoon special, however, was the exceptional service and genuine kindness of the staff. Every team member went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and cared for. A very special thank you to our butler, Siham, who was absolutely amazing throughout our stay. She was incredibly attentive, proactive, and always available whenever we needed assistance. Her warmth and professionalism made a real difference and contributed greatly to the success of our honeymoon. We would also like to recognize the wonderful restaurant team for their outstanding hospitality and kindness. A special mention goes to Lujain, Thoha, Sukma, Sofya, Maya, Dilmi, Saad,Rafee..., who consistently greeted us with smiles and took great care of us every day. Their attention to detail and genuine friendliness made every meal a pleasure. Thank you to the entire Anantara Kihavah team for creating such beautiful memories for us.
