About the Hotel
Surrounded by nothing but turquoise lagoon which melts into sapphire blue, the Maldives luxury resort island of Anantara Kihavah and its pure white sands rise up out of the ocean like a mirage. For centuries, this was where Arab traders sailing to the Far East took shelter; a lush paradise blessed by coconut, papaya and mango trees. Navigating archipelago to archipelago by the stars, the seafarers were also drawn by the riches of the ocean surrounding the island – where a prehistoric volcano sank back into the depths, leaving blooming corals within a house reef and a wealth of lagoon fish. Wishing to keep the pristine nature of the island intact, not one tree has been moved – as evidenced by the villas growing up around them. The design pays homage to the seafarers of old, fusing Indian Ocean, Arab and Portuguese motifs with indigenous materials. Island luxury, but with a heart and a soul.
Anantara Kihava is a gem of an island, about which it’s difficult to describe in words. The location just 40 minutes by sea plane is easy to get to from Male. The warm greeting from the team was a precursor to a wonderful 12 nights in an overwater sunset villa. We were extremely lucky to be met by our Butler Harnie (the only female butler on the island) who turned out to be the best. Knowledgeable, professional and above all fun. The slowest driver in the Maldives but we always got to where we were going……eventually. We miss her a lot. What an amazing person. The over water villa was beautiful, especially the outdoor shower, and the architecture of the public buildings outstanding. The bar the best in the Maldives, designed for star gazing and manned by Steve a professional and extremely friendly mixologist. The food in all the restaurants, from breakfast to dinner was exceptionally good. Obviously Sea is an experience not to be missed. Both during daylight and after dark the display of fish on the reef simply blows the mind, the sheer beauty and unquantifiable numbers is hard to beat. Snorkeling on the reef was a daily trip, the gym before breakfast a great way to start the day, and paddle a great extra. As I hope you’ve gathered we loved our vacation. Somehow Anantara Kihava manages to deliver absolute luxury, but also a soul sometimes missing from other 5 star resorts. From the RM down it is the staff who manage to convey a warmth which it would be hard to beat.

I had a massage with Dhinie and it was the best massage I’ve ever gotten. She was incredibly professional and amazing at her job . I left feeling completely relaxed . 100% would recommend
