About the Hotel

Surrounded by nothing but turquoise lagoon which melts into sapphire blue, the Maldives luxury resort island of Anantara Kihavah and its pure white sands rise up out of the ocean like a mirage. For centuries, this was where Arab traders sailing to the Far East took shelter; a lush paradise blessed by coconut, papaya and mango trees. Navigating archipelago to archipelago by the stars, the seafarers were also drawn by the riches of the ocean surrounding the island – where a prehistoric volcano sank back into the depths, leaving blooming corals within a house reef and a wealth of lagoon fish. Wishing to keep the pristine nature of the island intact, not one tree has been moved – as evidenced by the villas growing up around them. The design pays homage to the seafarers of old, fusing Indian Ocean, Arab and Portuguese motifs with indigenous materials. Located on the Baa Atoll in a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, Anantara Kihavah Maldives Villas invites you to imagine your own barefoot luxury paradise. Savour the luxury of space in your private pool beach villa or over water villa. Snorkel with mantas and Hawksbill sea turtles. Stargaze into the night. Dine on a deserted sandbank or beneath the ocean’s surface at this enchanting sanctuary

Reviews for Anantara Kihavah Maldives Villas

Perfect escape

Anantara Kihavah has an overall excellent service and our personal butler Piyal went out of his way to accommodate our wishes. We appreciated their outstanding restaurant concept, the beautifully decorated rooms and the direct access to the beautiful beach and snorkeling area.

Arrived for the luxury, returning for the people:

We came to Anantara for the world-class experiences—the breathtaking views from our Sunset Villa, the underwater lunch at SEA, the lovely live band in the evenings, and the mesmerizing star gazing. But we found something much more valuable here. This resort has mastered the art of helping you put down your phone and genuinely reconnect with people. Every interaction, from the waiters to the guides, reminded us that the best hospitality feels less like service, and more like genuine friendship. However, the soul of this island is its people. Two individuals specifically turned a great trip into an unforgettable one: To Naomi (Villa Host): Naomi is a rare find. From the moment we arrived, she didn't just feel like a "host"—she felt like a caring friend who was genuinely invested in our happiness. Despite having been here only a year, she has a warmth and sincerity that usually takes years to cultivate. I even noticed her mentoring a newer host with such patience, which speaks volumes about her character. She didn't just serve us; she connected with us. She made our villa feel like a home and is the absolute gold standard for Anantara. She is the primary reason we will return to this specific resort. To Thask (Snorkeling Guide): Thask is a miracle worker. My wife is a non-swimmer and was terrified of the deep water, but Thask didn’t just guide her—he gave her courage. His patience and emotional intelligence helped her conquer her fear completely, turning anxiety into pure joy. If you are booking Anantara, ask for them. They are the magic.

It was simply amazing and PERFECT! The service is awesome, the hotel is a paradise, very welcoming, charming, comfortable, beautiful and totally worth it! The over the water vila is spacious, very clean, great bed and sheets, you simply get down the stairs to a perfect ocean... best time ever! People who work there are super kind and helpful, we had Piyal with us, who made our experience even better!

On Holiday from the UK

My wife and I spent 11 nights on the island during December 2025. Transfer to the sea plane in Male gave us the impression of what to expect: exclusivity . On arrival we were warmly welcomed and met our host, Zidhan, who soon became a friend. He was always there for us and nothing was too much for him. He would came over for a personal chat daily in the restaurants, cut sets up a WhatsApp group to make things easy too. We stayed in a beach pool Villa, having tried an overwater villa the previous year. We preferred the beach villa experience. Much of the original jungle-like vegetation has been preserve, so there is a true desert island paradise feeling: it’s a great place to be. The cleaning service was excellent too. I was concerned about mosquitoes, but only got one pretty mild bite during our stay. I applied repellent daily just in case. On my daily walk around the island I would only see a few people. It takes only 2700 steps to walk around on the beach. We mostly walked everywhere, but Zidhan was always there if we needed a lift. There is a nice balance of desert island paradise and well kept clean beaches and attention to the pathways. I think that staff:guest ratio is about 2:1. Restaurants are good and made even better by the front of house staff. We were always very warmly welcomed by professional staff. Some of the names of the waiters who took care of us are Shaken, Hafiz, Lujain, Jeni, Ricky, Sala and Chandala. Thanks to all of the staff. We’d recommend going to the overwater bar at about 6pm for a cocktail and to watch the sunset, before going to your restaurant. Our underwater restaurant Michelin Star experience was fantastic. We booked half board, but next time would simply sign the bill and settle up at the end. This is a better way to enjoy the holiday in our opinion, as breakfast is included anyway. We’ll be back.

Luxurious Maldives Experience!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

Anantara Kihavah Maldives Villas is an amazing place to have the quintessential luxurious Maldives experience! Our overwater villa was incredible and the island is truly an untouched tropical paradise. We loved scuba diving and having so many close encounters with the amazing wildlife - both on the island and in the water. The food was delicious and the spa was wonderful. The stay is pricey, that's really the only challenge / downside. If you can afford the splurge, then treat yourself.
