Surrounded by nothing but turquoise lagoon which melts into sapphire blue, the Maldives luxury resort island of Anantara Kihavah and its pure white sands rise up out of the ocean like a mirage. For centuries, this was where Arab traders sailing to the Far East took shelter; a lush paradise blessed by coconut, papaya and mango trees. Navigating archipelago to archipelago by the stars, the seafarers were also drawn by the riches of the ocean surrounding the island – where a prehistoric volcano sank back into the depths, leaving blooming corals within a house reef and a wealth of lagoon fish. Wishing to keep the pristine nature of the island intact, not one tree has been moved – as evidenced by the villas growing up around them. The design pays homage to the seafarers of old, fusing Indian Ocean, Arab and Portuguese motifs with indigenous materials. Located on the Baa Atoll in a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, Anantara Kihavah Maldives Villas invites you to imagine your own barefoot luxury paradise. Savour the luxury of space in your private pool beach villa or over water villa. Snorkel with mantas and Hawksbill sea turtles. Stargaze into the night. Dine on a deserted sandbank or beneath the ocean’s surface at this enchanting sanctuary

The place is fantastic, it’s gorgeous. The food quality is of very high level, the Sea restaurant is an incredible experience, but the best is the staff: very caring, friendly, well-trained personnel. Ismail, our host, was fantastic, made our stay much more enjoyable.

Our honeymoon at Anantara Kihavah Maldives Villas was truly unforgettable. After a lot of research, we decided to split our honeymoon between Milaidhoo and Kihavah, and it ended up being a perfect combination. We were initially a little worried Kihavah might feel too festive or busy, but it was actually very peaceful and relaxing. Another important point is that both resorts are relatively close to each other by Maldives standards, which really matters when planning a trip here since distances between islands can be huge. Our water villa was beautiful and incredibly comfortable. We loved that parts of the bathroom and even the jacuzzi had glass floors, so we could see the ocean and fish below while inside the villa. Stepping directly into that crystal-clear water with the white sandy bottom was just amazing every single time. It was also really pleasant moving around the island by bike. Distances were short enough to feel relaxing and enjoyable, especially after dinner or after snorkeling. The dining experience was excellent throughout the stay. One dinner in particular had an incredible overwater setting, and beyond the view, the food itself was genuinely exceptional. Dining at Sea was also unforgettable. The reef was probably the biggest highlight for us. This was my third time in the Maldives and the sixth resort I’ve visited here, and by far this was the best house reef snorkeling I have ever experienced. The amount of marine life so close to the island is truly incredible, and it’s all very easy to access directly from the resort. A special thank you as well to lovely Tina, who took wonderful care of us throughout the stay and made everything perfect! Even knowing how many amazing resorts exist in the Maldives, Kihavah became one of the very few places we genuinely want to return to soon.
