Reviews for Coco Palm Dhuni Kolhu, Maldives
We have just returned from 7 nights and stayed in a sunset Beach villa. This is the second time we have visited the island and we still loved the naturalness of the island. All the staff work so hard at all there jobs to make the island what it is. The staff were extremely friendly and it was good to see some familiar faces. We had a marine eco package and was well worth it. It is a very special place to us as our first visit was for our honeymoon 6 months ago. The only issue we had was at check out. We were disappointed in the fact we were charged in our final bill for all the excursions that were included in our marine package and paid for upon check in. Then there was an issue with the repeaters discount. This took four people to look at and it still wasn't resolved and then it left us holding up others including ourselves as we had our transfer waiting. (I felt terrible for holding everyone up). We paid one bill on the island which we didn't know if that was correct or not but then once we arrived at Male we were pulled aside and asked to make a further payment as they had not calculated the bill correctly. I felt the communication between what your packages offer and the reception is vague as they didn't appear to know what was included. And it certainly left a bit of upset to the end of our holiday as we had to go through the bill and remove excursions we'd already paid for. Look we love the island and we will definitely return. we hope the check out experience is reflected upon and some sort of changes put in place to ensure accuracy. Our bill was literally halved from errors made. Everything else was magical.

I will start by saying if this is your first time into the Maldives you will certainly be impressed by the resort to start with. Having travelled to the Maldives several times before, there are a few areas where they could sharpen up the experience which would improve things overall. The Island is kept well and generally the staff are friendly enough, however the beach bar staff could be a little more interactive with guests. On one occassion the barman had a face like a wet Sunday and gave the impression he really did not want to be there. In no paticular order of points to note for the management team in the absence of a customer feed back form as previously mentioned: No drinks in the room included in the ALL INC package, (only 2 bottles of locally produced water) No facility to take a drink back from the bar to the room - another way of getting you to purchase drink from your mini bar, sometimes you may want sit with your partner quietly and chat, but having to pay for a drink for the privilage of doing it, Waiters in restuarant not on the ball to ask if clients would like additional drinks at table. Hot food in Buffet restaurant not kept Hot or even warm at times, mentioned to Head chef, who was aware of issue, not an issue we have experienced in other resorts ?? The dive centre Manager is not very interactive with clients and does not promote a warm welcoming to new guest who want to go diving, so much so, I spoke to guests who were put off by his approach. On a very positive note, the invaluable work been conducted by the Olive Ridley Trust in caring for injured turtles was amazing; the dedication of the team there is truely fabulous, although a donation is automatically added to all customer accounts, perhaps this is not the best way to get people to part with money, perhaps a more subtle way would be to ask when bills are being settled. This review is based on our own personal opinions which will differ from others so make your own informed decisions from it. There are lots of Islands to visit with some offering better value and experiences for the same price.

We have just returned from another fantastic visit to see all of our friends at Coco Palm Dhunikolhu and enjoy this beautiful island and all of its special magic. The island is very beautiful and the staff are all exceptional and so friendly. We found that there are so many improvements to enhance the guests comfort and experience. The mosquito fogging is carried out twice a day....we had no bites and so this is fantastic. We were able to walk all around the island at low tide as the team had put sandbags in the affected areas of beach erosion....a good job done by the gardening team. The food was fantastic and we ate at all the outlets. We particularly want to say thankyou to all the staff at the Conch Bar who looked after us......everyone is very special. Thankyou Teja for anticipating our every need and all of your hard work...we have so many memories and also thankyou to Gopal and Boopati and Kuda for also looking after us and making fantastic cocktails. We also enjoyed the company of Mr Raazi good to talk. The spa was blissful and the Polynesian journey was indeed everything it described. The yoga was a new experience thankyou to our guru for all of his patience with us. Another thankyou to Abul and Anees who again looked after us at the Sunset Bar. We had a fantastic time and we really enjoyed meeting Brendan who is so friendly and has a wealth of knowledge and is just so perfect for this resort that is barefoot and natural. Each time we enjoy ourselves and it just keeps getting better.....thanks to all of the staff and that means all of the staff and Dulal thankyou for the luggage assistance especially on our last day. We also will never forget our welcome Bodu Beru.....again so special. We have so many wonderful memories and we will return next year . We also went on to stay at Coco Boduhithi and we were welcomed again and enjoyed fantastic service and food.. Thankyou to Antony for your hospitality and a fantastic stay at Coco Boduhithi where we experienced all the wonderful things that Coco Boduhithi can offer. We are now planning our next visits for 2018 and want to do all of the same things again.

Not all it's made out to be ! Don't get me wrong the island itself is lovely but our visit to the Maldives this time has been somewhat of a let down. Deluxe beach villa had very tired furnishings , outdoor shower and bath expected but not toilet ... quite unpleasant ...would have been ok if there had at least been a screen or door . Bath could not really be used it had rusty marks and unsafe tiles/slates with jagged edges. The plunge pool literally is just that and again looks outdated and old. All inclusive is a bit of a joke , if you book all inclusive that's what you should get not extra for this and extra for that, yes I know there have to be limits but stipulations such as you can only order two drinks at a time and you're not allowed to take your all inclusive drink from the bar to your room ... really ? The Spa .....well how often do you go to one and they've run out of materials , couldn't offer full manicure or pedicure as they'd run out of polish ! Didn't offer price reduction so didn't even bother. All inclusive sunset cruise .... no communication from staff on board , one drink allowed which had to be pre booked , jobs worth in charge of drinks not one smile or acknowledgment of guests , we were ticked off on list as just another number . His attitude in the restaurant was just as bad as when we asked for slightly more all inclusive wine he literally put one drop in. Main buffet restaurant definitely lacking in customer satisfaction ,I don't expect to be told on arrival you should come early or late if you want a decent seat . Maybe they could at least say if you don't mind waiting ten minutes or so they would let you have the next free booth table. The Thai restaurant and Conch bar food is far superior to the buffet , the credit you get as an all inclusive guest is well worth using as you get better service and food and we rarely went over credit value .I think there is an air of complacency among the management and they need to move on and start adding extra special touches , staff knowing your name , extra things such as maybe a few flowers occasionally on the beds at turn down or an odd chocolate. Some form of music system in the rooms to play from our own i pods ... you leave a cd in room to purchase but nothing to play it on ! The beach beds could be set up in the mornings for you instead of dragging the cushions onto them yourselves. Staff should stop pandering to "special returning guests"and concentrate on the rest of their clients as well, we paid as much for our holidays if not more than them and made to feel as second best guests. We've been to the Maldives six times now and I think Coco Palm needs to up their game and look at refurbishing and adding extra touches to compete in the market. It's not a cheap holiday and expected more from this resort. On a plus side the Olive Ridley project turtle rescue centre was lovely to see and enthusiasm of resident vet and assistant amazing .Not that we objected at all because of the work they do , but you will find a donation is automatically add to your bill at check out, which was not pointed out to us.

This is the first time I am writing a review for a hotel, but this place is definitely worth to do it. We just came back from a twelve days stay in one of the deluxe villas (81) and I have to say I am very impressed by this place. The room was beautiful, comfortable, and impeccable. The hotel is the perfect place to spend some quiet and relaxing days. Food in the restaurant is extraordinary and the beach bbq delicious. Excellent dive center where they take care of everything, even settling your equipment!!. I have to say that what really made the difference during this trip was the people that work there. All the staff was very friendly, welcoming, and they fill our stay with so many nice details. I would like to especially thank Adeel (a waiter) and Bashir (a chef), which were particularly kind to us every time we visit the restaurant. I totally recommend this place, and I am looking forward to coming back.
