Reviews for Soneva Fushi Resort

Totally average resort, for a lot of money. 🫠

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

It must be said that Soneva resorts have excellent marketing. If you look at the rankings of the top resorts in the Maldives, you will always find Soneva Fushi and Soneva Jani. Of course, the seriousness of these rankings is slightly questionable. Also, many influencers or travel agents who have a free 1-2 night stay promote this resort in an unbelievable way. However, the reality is that the resort is very average compared to others and nothing special. You can trust me because at this moment I have visited 37 resorts in the Maldives and I am not a travel agent. You can easily verify on my Instagram profile anezka_travel. Villas: these are really huge and spacious which is very positive, however the "Crusoe" design may not suit everyone. We were in the Family Villa Suite with Pool, and it was unfortunately very gloomy and depressing inside. The overall equipment has a cheap impression because everything is made in an "eco" spirit. I have nothing against it, but then the price of the stay should correspond to it, because for example the design of the villas Velaa Private, Nautilus, Kudadoo seems much more luxurious and the equipment had to be imported and therefore I can understand the higher price. In contrast, the equipment of villas on Soneva Fushi is produced cheaply and "on the knee". We also tried the water villa, but the entrance to the sea is directly on rocks and dead coral, it is not possible to enter, swim or snorkel. Snorkeling: below average, coral is dead. Yes, you can still see a turtle or a shark or a school of little fish, but there aren't many anemones or live coral. There are better resorts in the Maldives for snorkeling. Beaches: they are nice only on the eastern part of the island, there is no beach on the western part of the island. Food: Japanese and Indian cuisine was excellent, the rest of the restaurants below average. The buffet restaurant does not have a luxurious impression at all. Nice views at breakfast are missing. The prices of soft drinks, wines and cocktails are ridiculously high. It's outrageous. I praise the great ice creams and the "Guilty pleasure" room. Right next to Soneva Fushi in a very close proximity is the local island of Eydhafushi, which is quite disturbing, you are looking at tall transmitters, buildings and strong lighting disturbs at night. We also had a cockroach in our room. Chickens and rabbits run around the resort. The resort is generally untidy. In conclusion: this resort has nothing to do with luxury, I would not recommend it to anyone for this money. The resort makes money mainly because of great marketing, people's lack of information and the villas they have for sale.

The best place on the planet to holiday… without question.

Incredible in every way. This was mine and my wife’s third trip to soneva but our second to Fushi. The first time at Soneva was just Jani but then two years ago we did 5 nights at jani and 5 at Fushi and fell in love with Fushi too. To split your time between both is just wonderful Both have so much to offer and are different enough to give you two different experiences. The place, people, food, accommodations….everything just make it simply the most incredible holiday we have ever had and make it a hard place to leave. The staff become friends make you feel special but in such a sincere way. they are genuine in every way and just want you to have a wonderful experience. I don’t believe there is anywhere on the planet more magical than Soneva Jani and count the days until we are back there.

Soneva was an amazing experience. We have been to other 5 star resorts in the Maldives, but this was so special. It has this familiar feeling, you feel completely at home. The nature is beautiful. The coral reefs was beautiful. The snorkeling was amazing. Great scuba diving club. Special dining experiences. The staff was incredible. So friendly and service minded and yet you felt at ease and at home. We just loved, loved, loved it, and we will be back next year, and the year after….

Simply incredible. No words can describe this place. Our second time at Fushi and so nice to see the same people. It is paradise on earth and there is no review that could do it justice. We had a water villa this time and it was lovely. Thank you to everyone there who makes this place so very very special!
