Quite possibly one of the most beautiful resorts I have ever visited. The attention to detail is quite spectacular and it's ethos of 'slowlife' pervades everywhere. From the moment you land you relinquish your shoes and walk barefoot for your stay. Quite liberating for us city slickers. The whole resort has the environment at it's heart so expect island grown organic produce, beautiful hand carved furniture made on the island, no plastic in sight, homemade organic ice cream in the 24 hour sweet room and bicycles for guests to get around the wooded 1.5 km island! As for the underwater world, the coral has survived in baa Atoll where huge boulders attract parrot fish, moray eels, manta rays, and turtles to name but a few. And that's only when snorkelling! Do the sunset dolphin cruise too... sipping bubbly as they swim alongside the boat. And if you're with the kids...wow... they have a huge Den with two pools, a pirate ship, a music instrument room. We were there as a couple and didn't even feel that this resort was family friendly it's done so well. Honestly, this place is simply heaven.

We stayed at Soneva Fushi over the weekend for 3 days - All I can say about the experience is that it was truly fantastic ! There was nothing we could fault ! Far far away from the everyday stresses of city life, we arrived at the Soneva Fushi Resort We were thrilled to learn that we had been upgraded to a gorgeous 3 bedroom villa. All the villas have its own plunge pool within a few steps we were on a breathtaking beach and the ocean. -soaking in the sheer natural beauty of the Maldives. which was nothing short of spectacular ! Along with their no new no shoes policy , we were in our secluded oasis of bliss The villas whilst being eco friendly offer every luxury you can think of! With natural light streaming in from the large windows, we found that despite keeping the curtains open , we were afforded enough privacy right through our stay . The concept of your personal butler or Mr/Ms Friday - enhanced our experience a 100 fold . Ready to cater to our every whim and fancy ( sometimes even before we had voiced it )- our Mr Fiday - Xain was par excellence ! Our different dining experiences here were nothing short of sublime ! a Sushi on the beach dinner , Chef Aron who floored us his with Michelin star meal at fresh in the garden, lunch in a vegetable garden, cocktails on the sandbank , the barrabara bar on the water and a finale dinner in the moonlight on a a beach were truly exceptional ! Their concept of from the farm to table was really appreciated by us ! Our litmus test at any hotel is if they can make us a good fresh lime soda ! ( limboo pani for Indians !) It was without doubt one of the best we’ve ever had . Looking at Saturn with its rings from the observatory , going snorkelling with the marine biologist and the sunset cruise to see the dolphins in theirare some of the fantastic experiences we had at Soneva Fushi . Thankyou Soeva fushi for making our 10th anniversary so special ! We will be back for more of your intelligent luxury ! We loved it !

What a great little holiday island. Went to spend 2 Magic birthdays on the island and it delivered on every single point. Our daughter loved the observatory and she got the opportunity to watch Saturn and it's rings. The ice cream was so tasty that our daughter couldn't stop tasting it and having the chocolate was just magic. The Den for the children was great and the staff was so helpful and all the different activities was great. The one when they went to the recycling station was the best in her opinion. Cocktails on the sandbank on the Tuesday was a great way to see the island from a distance with a great sunset. The snorkelling trip with the marine biologist was great and the only thing we missed was the manta rays. But just snorkelling around the island gave us the opportunity to see both sharks and turtles The dolphin cruise on the last day was magic and getting the chance to see them swimming around the boat in the setting sun. There is no words for that. Our room was fantastic and the outside bath room was a great touch. Many thanks to all the staff on both the island and the airport. Hopefully we could come back some.

Much has been said over the years about Soneva Fushi, and having stayed for a few nights in September, I can absolutely now see why. Sonu and Eva set Soneva up with Soneva Fushi as their first property, and 20 years on it has lost none of that pioneering spirit and sense of personality. My job is travel and I have been lucky to stay at many of the world's best hotels, including Four Seasons, AMAN, Six Senses. When I say that it is rare to find a resort like this with such a beating heart and an island soul, I mean it sincerely. This is the quintessential Robinson Crusoe experience. The resort is absolutely and unashamedly rustic luxury. Wood, stone, thick cotton, natural materials reign here. No glitz or glamour in site. This is the Maldives, and if its an authentic island experience you crave, then look no further. Service is absolutely phenomenal. Singled out for very special mention must come our Man Friday, the amazing Irfan, who showed sincere warmth, fun and personality during our stay. Nothing was an issue, despite some challenging circumstances. Ask for him to look after you - he is amazing! All staff are wonderful. Nobody had bad service, and we saw maybe 30 different staff members during our stay. We loved the island. It's a magical place with palms and paths and winding corners and breathtaking views. Not so breathtaking however is the view on the sunset side of the island of the neighbouring island, which is NOT pretty. My advice is do NOT book that sunset side, or when you stumble onto your beach you'll have that view, which isn't pleasant. Insist on the unobstructed view on the opposite side of the island at all times. DO not book Villa 67 (a 3bed) as it has that view. Don't book Villa 17 either (1bed) as it has a massive banyan tree right outside, which obstructs any view. Choose your villa carefully. Every single one is different, even with the same name. I stayed in 7 (Soneva Fushi Family Villa with Pool), which I loved for its amazing outside bath and shower. The room was quite dark, with lots of wood. Pool was fab though and got the sun all day, and beach a stone's throw away at the end. My favourite villas I saw were: - Villa 9 (3 bedroom) - beautiful, light and airy - gorgeous - Villa 5 (3 bedroom) - same as Villa 9 in layout but also has a cinema - Villa 2 - (3 bedroom) - village feel with 3 seperate houses but lovely - Villa 36 (4 bedroom) - best for TOTAL privacy - Villa 1 (1 bedroom) - most private 1 bedroom villa on the island - Villa 60 (1 bedroom) also lovely - Villa 41 (3 bedroom) beautiful DO NOT MISS the dolphin cruise, it is amazing. Saw so many, a whole pod around the boat and delicious canapes and prosecco. There is even an observatory where you can see the stars - divine. The island is wild, and the reef here is good. I snorkelled off the Bara Bara bar area and it was great, but very choppy during monsoon season. When it is calm it would be beautiful. You can also snorkel off the opposite side, where they are building a new Sushi restaurant, which will be amazing I'm sure. That should be done by December hopefully, If you have kids, then prepare yourself for the world's very very best kids club. I am 37 and i wanted to join in! Slides, pool, activities, dress up, kitchen, cookery, lego, chillout, sleep rooms, cinema, nature activities, a garden. It's simply phenomenal, and free for kids aged 4 and above. Under 4 and you can use with mum or dad or nanny. If you don't like kids or want adults only, this isn't the island for you. Generally you won't see them as they will be exploring or in the kids club, but they will be at dinner etc. Food throughout was superb, especially at Fresh in the Garden, which is amazing. Like at Six Senses Yao Noi and Laamu (which are modelled on this), it was my favourite. The garden is an amazing place. The beach restaurant is superb too, especially the sushi. The ONLY niggle during our stay was the waiter at So Fresh in the Garden, who despite being asked to bring a Hendricks and tonic with fresh lime, brought Hendricks and cucumber. When we said we asked for lime, he said yes but Hendricks is not served with lime, but cucumber, that is how the barman serves it. First world problems we know but at this level, clients and guests must never be challenged like this and patronised. We KNOW it is normally served with cucumber, but we didn't ask for that! That was literally the only issue however. There is no main pool here, so always request a room with a pool. Do not book the Crusoe Villas or Soneva Fushi Villas. Trust me you will want and need a pool. With around a consistent 30% repeat rate, there is a reason why people return here time and time again. Staff feel like friends, and this like an island home. It's amazing, it really is. People come and stay for months. If you want to come at Easter or Christmas, book at least 1 year in advance, as the resort will be totally full. This is NOT a resort for people who want glitz and glamour and to be fussed over. It isn't showy or flash. It is quiet and supremely elegant and with real dignity. Whoever you are, you are just another guest here, and are treated the same as everyone else. My recommendation is that if you love the Maldives, definitely experience at least a week at Soneva Fushi, and experience the first truly luxury resort in the Maldives, and still one of the best to this day. In a word, amazing!

It is our second time in the hotel. It is like coming back home. All staff has been working for a long time, many of them remember you and it is nice. The level of the hotel is rising up. Restaurants, spa, diving, sport activities are on the top.
