Glad we came...but will stay somewhere else next time

The wooden floors in our partial sea view villa were very creaky and made it difficult for someone to sleep if their partner was walking to the restroom in the middle of the night. The beach is full of coral/rocks, so you cannot enter the water barefoot. Highly recommend wearing aqua shoes to avoid injury (a guest cut her foot on a rock while we were staying there). There was no food/beverage service offered on the beach, although there is a beachfront restaurant you can order from and take with you to the lounge chairs. It would be more convenient to have that service readily available directly from the lounge chairs. Housekeeping could do a better job at refreshing rooms each day. We had to request face towels and was told housekeeping does not open until 7:30am, but we were leaving at 6:45am for an excursion. The minibar was also short on supplies our second day, which was included in our all-inclusive package, but housekeeping forgot to refresh it. Additionally, the location is far away from the main excursions and tourist attractions (up to 1.5+ hour drive in traffic). The north side of the island does not have a lot of attractions, so you will spend up to $120+ USD per day on transportation, depending on where you want to go. The heated private pool was great, and our room was spacious and pretty. Great soft pillows and bedding, and a pillow menu if you want to change them out. The menus at the restaurants NEVER change...so you may get bored with the food options if staying more than 4 days. Staff were great, courteous, and accommodating. Great spa with lots of options and amenities to enjoy, but the sauna and hydro-spa pool are located outside and visible to everyone...so be prepared to wear a bathing suit if you're used to having the option to be nude in the sauna). Glad we came and experienced Le Jadis. However, when we return, we will stay on the south or east side of the island.

The hospitality, dedication, personal attention, care and service was exceptional. From the beginning we were pleasantly surprised by the staff. The rooms (let's say villas) were magnificent. Those with the pools were so much worth it. The privacy, decor and set up was superb! The food - quantity wise and quality wise - delightful! Our regards to the f&b team - esp Mr Sonah, he knows how to treat his guests! The full team at the restaurants were great. We noted lots of respect as well from the lads - Arvin, Vishal, Viraj, Alex - all of them! We fully recommend this place because they maintain the high standards of Mauritius hotels which we slowly see fading away. Here it is present! Good job team!

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE RAT IN MY ROOM

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

A very disappointing stay at the Jadis Hotel – Mauritius First of all, the reception service was appalling: you have to call them several times to get them to do what you ask. I had to call back an hour and 45 minutes later for them to remember my order. Then, I ordered a dessert through room service: it was delivered to the wrong room without anyone informing me. It was only after an hour and a half of waiting and another call that they acknowledged their mistake. The worst part: a rat in my room. The hotel refused to take responsibility and preferred to blame the guests, claiming they ate in their rooms… even though room service is offered. Incomprehensible. As for the housekeeping service, they don't empty the trash, leave the garbage in the room, and leave the sold plates outside the door instead of collecting them. Finally, in the hotel restaurant, cats were wandering around on the tables, licking the cutlery and plates without any intervention from the staff—it took a call from their handler for them to intervene. In short, a very disappointing experience for a hotel of this caliber. I absolutely do not recommend it.
