We went for our honey moon at Angsana Balaclava and we were very happy with our stay there. The staff is marvelous, everybody treats you the best way possible, they are always smiling and wanting to help. The first day we had a small problem that was promptly solved by the manager, who also happens to be a very nice person. We defnetly are going back there another time. Thank you very much for the stay. We loved everything, the view from the room, the food from the restaurant.

Angsana Balaclava holds a special place in our heart - my wife and I have had our honeymoon there in 2012 - and we've stayed again during our last holidays in Mauritius in August 2017, with now a bubba in tow. The hotel and amenities look even better from what we remember from our first stay, similar to wine that ages gracefully, or it could've been some very subtle changes that have enhanced the general aesthetics of the resort - who knows, but good job there. Upon arrival, we were greeted with very helpful staff and after completing the paperwork, we were offered a complimentary lunch at the Passion Chill restaurant overlooking the resort's pool as housekeeping was running slightly behind schedule. Our room (Beach front suite) was ample, beautiful with a private pool with a few flights of stairs to get there, but nothing too demanding despite carrying our baby and foldable & lightweight Yoyo pram throughout our stay. The bed was very very comfortable and room was neat and tidy. The only *insignificant* issue was that the kettle was not working but was promptly replaced upon calling reception. Unfortunately with a 10 month old in tow with a set routine (in the cot by 8PM), we've had to rush for dinner on the first night and back to our bedroom by 8PM. However, Kunal from the Oryza Restaurant was very accommodating upon our request for room service for the rest our of our stay, and this made our lives easier and we were able to stick to our routine and ensuring that our little one had an amazing stay as well! Wife and I have had a SPA session each at Angsana, and it was greatly relaxing and worth every cent. As new parents, having some time to ourselves to indulge and relax is a luxury and the SPA staff are just amazing. And here's the cherry on top: After extending our stay by one more night, we were bumped up to the Villa Suite (same villa where we've spent our honeymoon in the first place) - we were in awe! Clean, tidy and luxurious, the villa comes with its own SPA room, private pool and large exterior patio space opening on the beach - just like on the pictures of the hotel's website. So all in all, thanks to the wonderful Angsana team - Sharvin, Kunal, Olivier & Pravin - we'll be coming again!

This hotel just isn't professional, and is managed really poorly. Managing an hotel is all about the relationship with your guests. The relationship they build with their customer is a relationship built on mistrust, and the search on how to extract a euro here and a euro there from you, even after you pay 800 euros per night. It started with the reservation. We got a list of "what we get" for the honeymoon package. The list included "one special private dinner" and "one romantic setup". It felt so non-special - other hotels during our honeymoon trip simply surprised us with such things, which was great. This felt like a cold contract that we should know. Bad relationship building experience and very unprofessional. The "private" dinner, btw, was just another regular table five meters from the rest of the tables. Not really that special. Meh. We bought an half-board package. Cost a lot extra per day. We discovered the drinks are not included and if you ask for tap water, the waitress will say they don't have any. A bottle of water, by the way, costs $7. Really? You can't give even one bottle per person free? Or offer tap water? Btw, the food was lame. Just not that tasty or special. The room (beachfront) had a private jacuzzi and pool. If you want to build a high end luxury hotel, it's elementary for the private jacuzzi and pool to be heated. It's the small things that make a hotel a real luxury hotel. Unprofessional. During the walk around of the room, the receptionist went through everything saying what is "chargeable" and what is free. It felt so cheap. We're paying about 800 euros per night - the small amendments bag can be given as part of the cost. It'll cost you 1-2 euros, but will add so much to the trust feeling. Unprofessional. We ordered a car rental from the hotel. We'd expect their suppliers to be good if they are recommending it to their guests. We got a car with unaligned wheels, difficult to drive, and no fuel at all. Unprofessional. Breakfast is served in certain tables all in the shade, however there is a row of tables in the fun sunlight. Of course, they randomly decided not to let people eat there. Why not? Why not give people the option to eat in the sunlight? Why not let your guest have a good experience? I know some of these are really "nitpicking", but the accumulation of these all is exactly what differentiate a truest highend luxury hotel, with a wannabe guest-exploiting hotel. Now, I expect the management to reply and say "this is not the level of service we expect our guests to have". I think you should come to terms that this is the level of service you give, and should start looking into the finer points to improve your hotel. I will not recommend this hotel, and highly suggest people avoid it.

TL;DR: This place is soooo horrible I'm writing this review while still staying here! If this review will prevent at least one person from making the mistake we did and booking this place, we did our share. Long story: It's our honeymoon and we paid for half board - not a small amount of money. We just came from dinner which is included in our half board package and they charged us $5 extra for water (just to make it clear - they don't serve any kind of beverage at dinner - no tap water nor cooler you can fill water for yourself. You can only order water and they only come bottled, and of course they don't tell you when you're asking for water that it's in an extra cost). This was the last straw! This place is the most petty place I've ever seen and definitely shouldn't be regarded as five stars. They are looking at you as an object for making money of and will take any extra charge whenever they can for everything. Since this place is isolated from everything (30 minutes walk to the nearest town) they will take advantage of this and will charge obscene prices for food that isn't included in your package (lunch). Each and every activity in the hotel will be priced the highest (the very basic stuff are included like paddle board. Everything else is times 4 the prices outside the hotel). Our honeymoon package also included a private dinner. What's that you ask? It's a dinner served to you in the SAME restaurant you eat dinner each evening, but on a table a bit far from the other guests. You can still hear them, see them (and them - you), even smell their cigarettes because this table is close to the terrace where they all smoke. But for the team of this hotel - they did their share. And this represents everything about this hotel - they'll sell you this luxury package, and then do the bare Minimum to provide, with such poor execution. The package also included the 'Hydro vitality jets'. That revealed itself as: 10 minutes in the sauna (which is opened to all guests to use anyhow), 10 minutes in the jacuzzi (which is also already included for all) and SELF scrub in salt (which you have in your room anyway). God, that was so ridiculous! Everything was already included anyhow for everybody but they packed it nicely under a fancy name to sell this fake-treatment. The BARE MINIMUM. We took the ocean room with the pool which was the most expensive room - so first, you have a private pool but there's no privacy since it has a direct link to the public beach so everyone who's walking down the beach stares into your room. It has a jacuzzi but it's cold (never heard of a cold jacuzzi). The staff is so incompetent we had to laugh if it wasn't so sad. For example, The shades separating between our room's indoor bath and the outdoor pool were broken so we couldn't close them. We called 4 times until someone came. They announced few minutes later all was good but of course nothing was fixed. Same for the burnt light bulb in the room. This place is just unprofessional. Everything they're trying to handle is resolved with poor poor execution. Don't waste your money here! It will only make you frustrated.
