This is truly an amazing place to go to. We went there for the last two night of our honeymoon and it really was the perfect end to a perfect trip. The villas were very clean and spacious. All staff are really friendly and helpful. The pool was a little cool for my liking but my husband found it fine. As long as I stayed in the sun I was OK. Wide selection of food at breakfast. Although the service was slow. We ordered coffees and had finished breakfast by the time they arrived. The in-room dining was disappointing, the service was slow and the food was not hot. I think it is a nice touch for the food to be laid out in your room, however, this just makes the food even colder. There was also not consistency in providing cutlery and bread. The staff were really friendly though. The quality of food was disappointing for the cost of the villas. I would have expected much better and be wowed by the taste but unfortunately I found the food quite bland for my liking. Overall though we had an amazing two nights there.

I have been five times in Bali during the last 20 years. Time has been changing and now my wife and me are not looking anymore for partying and clubbing. So surprisingly my wife booked the Banyan Tree Ungasan. We stayed there for 8 nights and I must say…. Impeccable and Astonishing. Great Oceanview Villa with two bedrooms, private pool and jacuzzi. Even my son (15) liked it very much. Bambu Restaurant serving a excellent variety of food for breakfast/lunch/dinner. The 5 star Ju Ma Na dinner Restaurant? Excellent joyce for food and great wine selection….you should try the Coronas (reed wine from Spain). Forgot to say…I am Swiss and my wife and son are Chinese. So not easy for them to adapt to Indonesian food…but the stuff was brilliant…preparing some special Food and serving them in our villa. Just great. Everything was relaxing as I was expecting. Everybody smiling, no rushing, always trying to help you…that is Balinese culture. Complains? Facilities are not quite new but this is nothing against the wonderful view which you can see during your Relaxing swimming in the pool or enjoying the Whirlpool. 5-star Hotel? I could complain about many 5-star hotels where I stay during my business trips in Asia. Banyan Tree Ungasan? Vacation, relaxing, great scenery, great nature, enjoying and no rushing. Special thanks to Wayan Cana Astawa (BQT) and Alfonso Romero (GM). And of course, to all of the stuff at the hotel....Thank you very much. Marcel

there were many both positive and negative points to this Banyan Tree. I like many others have been to three other Banyan Tree properties in Asia. I am from the US and it really is a very long way to go. If I did not have family meeting us there I probably would not have but we had never been to Bali before. The villas were very nice each with there own pool and hot tub. The rooms and bathrooms were large and sunny. Many like ours need some updating and sprucing up. I did not like like trip to the beach that we had to call a car to drive us down. If you wanted to walk you had to be very careful of the monkeys along the way! The morning buffet was great. We left the hotel most nights to other places to eat. Bali traffic is horrible and one reason not to go back. So, the real question is would I return? My answer is no. But glad we went to see it for ourselves.

First of all we want to be clear. This venue is wonderful! From the grand entrance to the stunning views and exceptional accommodation. We stayed for two nights post wedding to relax and unwind after the hustle. We do not normally stay in hotels but this one caught my eye and gave it a chance. On first glance and reception I was not wrong. The staff were very welcoming and the villa with private pool / jacuzzi was too. Unfortunately there were a few things that I feel negate a 5 star rating (or 4) On arrival to the villa there were pool staff having around for nearly an hour as they hadn't prepared our room in time. Disappointing given we were later than planned. After a long week of preparations (and wedding) we wanted to do nothing but relax on our own and order room service. Despite having exceptional fine dining options on site room service was the grand total of the pool bar and 'bambu' lunch menu. Club sandwiches and soggy Thai beef salads. Again, 5 star? Food was standard hotel quality enough but what wasn't was the 23 hours it took the hotel to clear the plates and leftover food from our villa. This is despite the room being serviced in the morning and confirming to please take the food away. Whilst waiting for the food to be cleared we ventured for massages in the hotel Spa. Now you can't compare standard massage prices to that in a five star resort who are always going to charge a multiple, however you should be able to compare quality. In Bali we always visit the Canggu based Therapy chain and experience an excellent experience for circa 350,000 IDR. Sadly the 1.1M charge (each) was significantly below par. More so the so called confidential nature of the feedback response card was immediately ignored and we were cornered upon leaving the spa. We did receive a 30% discount at check out however hardly again the service you'd expect. Next onto the pool restaurant for late lunch. The view, the infinity pool were perfect. Unfortunately the construction work and the lack of smoking areas meant my pregnant wife was left covering her mouth and nose in the seated eating area. Not acceptable anywhere! What did deliver however was the Ju Ma Na restaurant. A truly 5 star menu with exceptional service and quality. Very reasonably priced vs. Everything else frankly (including villa rate) and one I would happily repeat. Overall it redeemed itself sort of however We won't be staying in a Banyan Tree or other resort for the foreseeable. They simply don't deliver and for the same cost we could have had a 4 bedroom private villa with full amenities, privacy and made our own club sandwiches!

this hotel was impeccable. we stayed here on our 2nd honeymoon for 2 nights. on 1st day, we got the sea-view room. everything about this room was amazing, well-maintained, great ambience, nothing to complain about, except we could not see the ocean perfectly since it was blocked by other villa's rooftops and trees. but the 2nd day, we were upgraded into the cliff-edge villa. the view was fantastic, well...actually it was more than fantastic. but...the villa was not well-maintained. it was said that the cliff-edge villas have always been the most favourite one and it was never vacant. maybe the hotel could never get the chance to do regular maintenance because of its high demand. the amenities was not as good as the sea-view one, bit smelly, and dirtier, both room and pool. we hope that the management could pay attention more detail to improve the maintenance and high standard of quality since we definitely want to come back to cliff-edge. one more...we'd like to thank mr.dian nurzaman from bambu restaurant for all the service and make our special food arrangements during our stay there.
