Fairmont Sanur Beach Bali in Bali, Indonesia

In a destination known as "Island of the Gods," a fittingly otherworldly experience awaits, with the brand new Regent Bali resort. The exclusive paradise is located in the Sanur District, on the island's southeastern shore, 30 minutes from the international airport, yet a vast distance away from the ordinary. Standing directly along tempting turquoise waters and sandy beaches, Regent Bali features lavish suites and residences - just under 100 in total - each designed with a modern take on traditional Balinese architecture and décor. Attention to the spectacular natural surroundings is the emphasis of each guest space, where oversize beds, luxuriously spacious bathrooms, and dedicated living areas envelope you in style and comfort. From iPod docks and high definition televisions, to digital butler call buttons, accommodations at Regent Bali are nothing short of cutting edge. Relax on your private terrace, many of which overlook the island of Nusa Lembongan and the Indian Ocean, and allow the tropical air to welcome you to this thoroughly dreamlike place.

Step out and immediately enjoy the resort's lush gardens, as you meander through the grounds surrounded by tropical vegetation, lush greenery, and tranquil water features. A 165-foot infinity lap pool overlooks the ocean, flanked on both sides by sunken seating, and a number of beachfront cabanas eagerly anticipate your arrival. Nyala Beach Club & Grill is the resort's go-to destination for fun-filled days in the sun, providing everything you need to make the most of your pool and beach experiences. The sands and ideal swimming waters of Sanur Golden Beach stretch over 200 yards and supply plenty of entertainment, but you can also head to Regent Bali's indulgent spa for an aromatherapy treatment, or a pampering couples massage. When it comes to dining, the resort offers options ranging from full-service gourmet restaurants, to casual lounge venues to suit your every desire. Layang Layang serves authentic Indonesian fare featuring locally sourced produce and imported meats, while the beach club's kitchen grills up the daily catch as well as a variety of other international dishes. Sip a cool cocktail at Lobby Lounge, savor a glass of fine wine at Library, or simply sit back at a beachfront spot and drink in the scenery. The island is an unforgettable place, and Regent Bali is here to make every moment perfect.

We liked the location and brand of the hotel hence despite reading concerning poor reviews, proceeded with the booking. Only to realize that the poor reviews are all accurate! Horrible breakfasts!!! Poor spread and lacking quality in whatever was there. Any vouchers or discounts applied will result in less than optimal treatment. We got a discount and booked the Ocean View suite for all in USD300 a night (total USD900 for 3 nights). We requested for a late check out and a room nearer the lobby as I am heavily pregnant and not quite so mobile. No late check out granted, not even to 2pm, as hotel was apparently booked out. We were also given a room which was quite a hike from everything. The "Ocean View" was a stretch - partially blocked by a wall and distant beach. Bedsheets were stiff and of poor quality, pillows wayyyy too soft (where is Fairmont's standard pillow menu offered everywhere else in the world?) and mattress was hard and creaky. Air-conditioning was faulty - non responsive fan speed and thermostat. House keeping didn't bother wiping floors and one could see foot prints of sand and grease (from massage oils) throughout floors. Wifi was not most stable too which got rather frustrating at times. And if you are thinking of trying the lobster brunch, forget it. Boiled lobsters and Grilled crayfish were great. Everything else poor. Desserts way too sweet. So again, not worth its price. Overall, hotel is only good for its location. There are plenty of great hotels and villas around with better view and definitely better price. We will unlikely want to come back to Fairmont Sanur after checking out tomorrow from this disappointing stay.

We chose to stay at the Fairmont after reading excellent reviews and because of its location. Both points exceeded our expectations which were high. We also were travelling with a 9 month year old. The hotel management and staff went out of thier way to accomodate for her with room upgrades, buttlers coming to wash/sterilize baby bottles, cot at no extra charge and anything else we needed. Room, pool, gym, childrens play areas and other facilities were all 5 star and so was the food. Breakfast buffet was excellent. We highly recommebd this hotel and will definitely be back.

We stayed at the Fairmont for 8 nights in the 2 bedroom villa through the Luxury Escapes package. The villa had a private pool, kitchen, and both rooms had huge bathrooms and walk-in wardrobes. It felt like being in our own home. If you prefer a quieter holiday without all the hustle and bustle (and constant harassing) in Kuta, i highly recommend staying here in Sanur. We went to Kuta and Seminyak last time and this holiday was so much more relaxing and it actually felt like we were on holiday. You can walk out of the hotel along the beach and there are a number of nice restaurants and we payed the Nest Spa along the beach many visits. Our 6 and 3 year old loved the kids club and the staff were very friendly. The hotel's beach bar is a lovely spot for a drink but we never drank there, even though there is a happy hour, it's still cheaper to drink at one of the restaurants on the beach or in town, so my only suggesting would be to make the drinks prices more competitive to draw in more customers from the hotel and passersby. Overall, it's an amazing location, and we had one of our best holidays as a family because it was so relaxing and not stressful at all. We will hopefully be back.

We have just returned from an 8 night Luxury Escape and cannot fault the Fairmont Sanur. From the moment we arrived until our departure the staff were amazing and so attentive. Our Garden View room on the 3rd floor was also amazing. Having the extra space with the outdoor patio was wonderful, the bathrooms are incredible! We really enjoyed the facilities with the beautiful pool to the beach area and the wonderful spa treatments. When we travelled across to Kuta or Seminyak we were so grateful to return to our private haven. We found the location perfect with a great range of waterfront restaurants along the beach front and enjoyed the bicycles to ride along the pathway. In my 30+ years in the travel industry I have never stayed in such a wonderful hotel as the Fairmont Sanur and we hope that we can go back one day.
