My wife and I flew from Brisbane to Bali, up bright and early for our flight. This hotel is unbelievable!  It has only forty-four rooms built on the side of a mountain, in the jungle.  The access to the different levels is by two different funiculars that are manned from 7am to 11pm. If you would rather, you can walk up the 450 stairs, although it is quite the hike. Our initial room was a riverside villa on level 6, with incredible views of the jungle, and the roar of the rapids down below. As there was a two hour time difference from Australia to Bali, we had dinner brought to our room, and were in bed by 9 p.m. Bali time. So this takes us to our night time visitor…we had left a basket of buns covered with a linen napkin and in the morning, there was only one left.  Strange because it was still covered up. Then when I opened the sliding panels in the morning there was the bun on the floor lightly nibbled on.  We believe it was a monkey in the room, just for the fact that the basket was covered back up again! After reporting this to reception, by the afternoon we had our room upgraded, to higher up the mountain on level 4. Equally incredible views! Having our own infinity pool made it perfect. After our room change we headed to the beautiful and famous pool for an afternoon of relaxation before our one hour Balinese massage.  As we sat on the terrace sipping our ginger tea, monkeys came to visit!  The spa and its services were amazing, highly recommend them both. We enjoyed the morning breakfasts, the food was good and looking out over the jungle was a bonus. We had dinner on a couple of nights, which was very expensive: crispy skin salmon and the snapper were very good, the sirloin not so much. Sweet potato fries were excellent. There is a hotel shuttle which leaves on the hour starting at 9 a.m., for the thirty five minute drive to downtown Ubud-the last shuttle back is 5.30 p.m. The staff are very friendly and accommodating: special thanks to Dinar, Darini, Monik, Widi, and Adi. Lovely hotel, great views.

An AMAZING hotel to stay at for a Honeymoon. The service is amazing, everyone is so friendly and helpful and the villas are the best thing i have ever been in (incredible room, personal infinity pool, deck with tons of space, amazing bathroom) and is everything you would expect from a 5-star hotel. That being said, its pricey and especially since its secluded, you don't really have much of a choice once it gets late. This is why its very important to be prepared to spend high prices on food and drink but its worth it. They also have a shuttle van that leaves from the morning and has a last pick up at 5:30pm which is great to go see everything the Ubud center has to offer (temples, food, drink and market shopping where you HAVE to haggle). This hotel is definitely not somewhere you should take kids (1. Because its more focused on couples service and the rest of the couples will thank you and 2. Because a kid will definitely get bored). Amazing scenery, first class service and the top honeymoon location i can recommend.

Stayed here over Chinese New Year 2017 for a week or so... despite the fact that it rained for pretty much all the time we were there (not the hotels fault!) we still had a great time and relaxed around the place. Food was generally very good (tuna sashimi was excellent) and service very friendly if a little slow at times, but we can live with that! Rooms were OK, beds were comfy but room and decor could have done with a bit of an update and refresh. The famous pool - well it's nice and all that, has a decent view, etc... if I am honest, we didn't even go in it (mainly due to the weather) but we had a good view from the pool in our room and up at the main pool you have to endure the countless couples posing for several thousand photos ... still, amusing to people watch. Given the weather we did experience the spa as a family (2x adults and 1x child) several times and the massages were excellent. They even did a kids one for my daughter who ended up fast asleep. Overall a good experience and friendly place to stay.

The service received was absolutely spectacular. Be prepared to pay a little extra but receive the best. The food is delicious and the rooms are very spacious. The attention to detail is what puts Hanging Gardens above the rest, from fresh flowers in your room to a beautiful floral bath for your honeymoon. The views and pools will forever be etched in my memory as this takes your breath away! Located close to Ubud where the people are so friendly and humble. I would definitely recommend this as a must see!
