Kamandalu Ubud in Bali, Indonesia

The Petanu River carves out a lush valley that cradles Kamandalu Ubud, a collection of villas that immerses guests in the Balinese way of life. “Kamandulu,” adopted from Sanskrit, means “the vessel that holds the holy water,” a moniker that encourages finding inner peace. Built from native wood and stone with peaked alang-alang grass roofs, the resort is a nurturing home base for authentic encounters with the countryside’s shrines, villages and other cultural attractions.

Listen to the sounds of the rainforest from your four-poster bed. Go for a solitary walk, following stone paths past a lotus pond surrounded by frangipani and hibiscus. Quiet your mind until you feel the vibration of a passing hummingbird. Continue your exploration through Tampak Siring villages to the moss-covered Gunung Kawi temple. Tuck into a plate of Javanese fried rice.

We had three night Luxury Escapes stay here in March 2017. The room was excellent, the service very good, and the staff a delight. The site and design of the hotel is very impressive. The stone work has weathered beautifully giving the hotel a very village like appearance. We had a walk through the rice fields and a visit to laical village, which was quite special as our employee guide took me to his family home. The hotel is now 20 years old and is undergoing some maintenance but this did not interfere with any of the facilities.

Satria and his team manage to put together a wonderful proposal dinner for my wife to me on 25 Mar. He was friendly and helpful to make our evening an unforgettable one. I would like to personally take Candra & Widara for liaising with me via mails constantly to put together this successful proposal. I would highly suggest this romantic dinner for those want to experience an unforgettable night at ubud

My wife and I debated at length on what would be the perfect wedding location and Kamandalu out shined the competition in the end. It started with the very prompt email responses and a true willingness to customize our special day just the way we wanted. Upon arriving every detail was executed with perfection with the only thing out of their control being the rain that was taunting us. The private pool villa was incredible surrounded by truly pristine grounds. If you are looking to have a wedding with impeccable execution in the perfect setting than look no further.

Kamandalu has touched every customer touch point during our stay there. First when we arrived in Bali, Agus from Kamandalu picked us up. He was very polite and drove smoothly. At the resort we were greeted by Asa. He gave us very refreshing welcome drink. He also politely explained all the itinerary, facilities and other QnAs. He took us to our room. The room had exotic design and very suitable for honeymooners. It was as if we went back to the nature. On the bed, there was cute towel origami into the form of peacock and rose petals shaped into a heart. The bath tub was filled with water and flower petals. It created romantic ambience. Ayu from the Spa picked us from our room and took us to the Spa. She and Tisna were very friendly and polite to my wife and I. The massage was great. Our room was near the infinity pool. The infinity pool was clean and had beautiful view to the scenery of Ubud. Beside the pool there was cocktail bar. The bartender Komang greeted us politely and humorous too. We enjoyed our mocktail there. Not far from the infinity pool, there was yoga house. Every morning we got complimentary 1 hr yoga session. The classes were great and the view from Yoga House was amazing. We also had a chance to enjoy romantic dinner. The food was great and the waiter Wayan was also helpful. One thing that can be improved is the taste of breakfast. Overall, we were highly satisfied with Kamandalu resort. If we have another chance, we will return.

We spent 3 nights here and loved our stay. The staff are incredibly friendly and made the stay so special. The resort feels very unpopulated and a small rice paddy field, ponds and water fearures add to the feeling of being lush and cool. We found the villas charming and the outdoor shower and daybed added to the atmosphere. Start your morning with a free but challenging yoga session and then enjoy the fabulous array of breakfast options. Two lovely pool areas -we spent most time on the comfy beanbags by the infinity pool. Dinner at the Arie cafe was good and the free shuttle into the town centre allows the option of trying some small local eateries as well.
