Reviews for Karma Kandara

Karma Kandara-An Honest Review

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 14 hours ago

Karma Kandara, nestled in a remote location, leaves you stranded and reliant on a buggy for transportation to restaurants or even the reception area. The villas with pools are a letdown, featuring a deep and small pit that poses a significant risk to children due to its lack of proper steps or gradual descent. The Villa is adequate in terms of its size. Monkey menace is another concern, as these mischievous creatures could invade your villa and ransack the kitchen at any moment. Vigilance is the only way to avoid such mishaps. The restaurant menu is limited, and the Indian restaurant falls short of expectations. The food served lacks the authentic Indian flavors and culinary experience that one would expect. The menu offers limited options for Indonesian delicacies. The lobby at the reception is cramped and overcrowded during check-in and checkout. The limited staff strength often leads to longer wait times for guests. The housekeeping standards are below par, and essential items like coffee, tea, towels, and napkins are not being replenished daily due to stock shortages. Transportation organized by the resort is excessively priced. It’s better to opt for GoJack or Grab for both transportation and food delivery. The resort prohibits food delivery to the reception area, only allowing it to the main entrance. This tactic is designed to squeeze more money from guests through their sponsored transportation and restaurants. The beach is accessible by a slow-moving single-compartment tram with a capacity of four to five people. To enjoy the beach, you’ll need to purchase their reserved areas. Morning sessions are high tide times, and the sea is extremely rough with no sandy areas. The extreme heat and sun make it practically impossible to enjoy the beach during these times. Evening is usually low tide, but instead of sand, the beach is slippery rocky terrain, making things even worse for guests. When the tram is not operational, you can walk down the cliff through the provided steps. However, the descent and climb back are a Herculean task for average people, but it may be an enjoyable experience for young and adventurous individuals. Overall, we found Karma Kandara to be an average resort, not as exceptional as it was hyped to be in Bali.

Heavenly!

Absolutely heavenly! Loved every moment here! Incredible service, breathtaking views, best beach club & a breakfast that makes your morning. Rooms are a little dated but cannot fault the resort in any way.

Lovely spot

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

Nice location but it is far from from attractions including Kuta etc. The rooms are modern however a villa would be the way to go. Travel within the resort is by golf carts driven by staff. There is one restaurant with a pool at the top of the cliff and a couple of restaurants and bars down on the private beach and accessed via a cable car. Lovely spot if you wish to just relax and do nothing.

It is loosing its charm

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

We have been regulars at Di Mare for dining and at Karma Beach over the years. However, during our last visit to the bar at Karma Beach before the dinner at Di Mare, the finger food was exclusively Indian, and its Indian decor felt out of place. Given the heat and the gorgeous view of white sand, lighter, more refreshing options would be better. This place used to be very chic, but now I wonder why they chose an Indian theme all over, even for the beach bar in Bali—it seems to be losing its charm. The only thing that has been quite consistent is their staff, who are very hospitable and attentive.
