Reviews for Karma Kandara

Still stunning, but not what it used to be...

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

This was our third stay at Karma Kandara, and unfortunately it's not what it used to be. The villas are still impressive (although needing some minor maintenance attention) and the clifftop location is stunning. There seems to have been a complete change in the management team since our last visit in 2024. This has changed the overall feel of the resort which now feels busier and less welcoming. The staff no longer seem as happy to be working there as they used to which was sad to see. The entertainment now includes a weekly Bollywood film night and the menus have also changed to have a more Indian flavour. We had some good meals, but would have liked more diversity in the menus. We stayed for a week from 11th to 18th July. During this time there were two large weddings held at the resort which meant the stunning pool was closed to all other guests for the entire day each time. Other restaurants and bars were also closed to guest so they could be used exclusively for the the weddings. Loud music from the weddings could be heard throughout the resort so if you wanted to relax by the pool in your villa (since the main one was not available) you still had to hear the wedding. A letter was placed in the rooms warning us we couldn't use the facilities, but no compensation was offered to guests for this disruption and the impact on our stay. When I requested some, I was given a bottle or cheap fizz. The Karma Kandara website seems to be actively promoting itself as a wedding destination now. I'd strongly recommend anyone looking to stay to check first there are no weddings booked in during your stay. Had we known ahead of time we would have changed our dates. The Karma Beach club was always a big part of what made staying at Kandara so special. It now feels neglected and doesn't have the same fun and relaxed vibe it once did. The beach equipment was scarce and in very poor condition. Not enough snorkels, kayaks and stand up paddleboards available meant long waits and shorter times to enjoy them once it was your turn. The snorkel I used had a split and kept filling up with water. If you haven't stayed before it's still an amazing resort to experience but check there are no weddings before booking. If you have stayed before, expect to notice a difference. Hopefully Karma Kandara can return to the welcoming and relaxed beautiful resort it once was, rather than a busy glam wedding venue.

Not so great, it's just a normal hotel not sure why its rated as 5 star, only 2 star, location worst staff too worst, price the worst heavy price and taste is worst, overall the worst.

A short, sweet bubbly birthday experience!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

We spent 4 days at Kandara celebrating a birthday. On the birthday the staff burst into song over an individually named mini-cake, and a nice champagne to celebrate. All the wines were of excellent quality which made every meal a real celebration. The villa we had was excellent, had a wonderful atmosphere, was clean and linen fantastic. The staff are always consistently happy and obliging. The location of the villa to the restaurants was great. We could walk to the conveniences such as the lift to the beach and the spa.

Do not expect good service

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

I found it very hard to get anywhere as buggies are always busy and long waits when needed Breakfast was terrible , never any seating available and no help with finding anything I would not recommend It’s in the middle of nowhere with nothing around close by Terrible time and would not go back again

Disappointing stay.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

Breakfast & Dining: Very limited buffet. Menu orders are strictly capped at one item (extras cost money), and the service is painfully slow, we had to place our order 2 to 3 times every meal. Stay Duration: Strict 3:00 PM check-in and 10:00 AM check-out give you only 19 hours in the room per night. Rooms: Outdated and in serious need of an update.
