Oberoi-Bali is a very special place for my family and me. We have been fortunate to stay there every year for the past 5 years. Originally, we were concerned if our stay would be as good as the previous years' experience - and every year our stay surpasses all expectations. It's the combination of an incredible staff; pristine property; and the overall location (in the heart of everything, yet able to escape it all within the hotel). It's great to see familiar faces (the ground keepers, restaurant staff, lifeguards, GM, etc). It makes it feel like 'going home.'

This is definitely a 5 star hotel. Our room was really nice, with fresh fruit replaced daily, It had a Nespresso machine etc. The shower was great with a decent pressure. The 5 stars really come through around the pool. Loungers are made up for you, it wasn't too crowded when we were there. They have a flag you have unfurl and plant in a pot to get service. I don't think I ever managed unfurl it before someone was asking me what I would like. There is even someone who cleans your sunglasses! They have no furniture on the beach in front of the hotel so if you want to sit on a lounger you will have to go to one of the beach clubs. There are no private beaches in Indonesia. You can borrow boogie boards from the hotel to play around in the surf which is fun and the equipment is in good condition. Breakfast was outside and is a la carte. the offer everything from omelettes to masala dosa or both if you want! We didn't eat at the hotel, other than breakfast. They have a really nice outside bar which was great in the evening. We had them pick us up from Serangan port which was no problem. Would be very happy to stay here again.

For our 7th trip to Bali we decided to spend three nights at The Oberoi and we had an incredible stay. The headline is that this is a distinctly Balinese, beautifully aged 1970s property with lush grounds, incredible food (great if you have a gluten allergy - more on that later) and refined service that is very personal, yet doesn’t feel overwhelming. Please read on for my full thoughts (and no, I didn’t use AI!) When we were looking at hotels for our stay we hesitated with booking this because it is in the middle of Seminyak and we tend to favour staying in areas in Bali which are quiet and restorative as opposed to buzzing with nightlife. The second we stepped through the gates all of our worries melted away – The Oberoi is set on vast acres of lush grounds and not once did we feel like noise disrupted our stay. The hotel itself is gorgeous and it felt like we’d travelled back in time - it oozes character everywhere you look. It was built in 1978 and it has aged incredibly well, so much so that I really don’t think much has been refurbished or replaced since it opened. In a time where modern, minimalist hotels with sleek lines are opening up all over the island, The Oberoi offers something which money can’t buy – a rich patina that only time can achieve. The only downside to this is that the rooms, however charming they are, are on the more dated side when compared to other hotels in this price range. Still, the superb housekeeping team kept everything replenished and clean. I also think it is a testament to the quality of materials used when this hotel was first built that it still looks better than some 10-year old properties in Nusa Dua. They don’t make them like this anymore. The food we had during our stay here – we ate all of our meals at the Oberoi - was truly incredible and some of the best we’ve ever had in any hotel, anywhere in the world. From delicious breakfasts to authentic Neapolitan pizzas and Indian curries, everything was not only delicious but served with the utmost care and attention. My wife has a gluten allergy and they could not have looked after her any better, often preparing gluten free pasta and off-menu dishes completely from scratch (on this note - please add GF pizza bases). The setting for the breakfast is sublime, perched right next to the beach yet perfectly shaded by the Oberoi’s signature, colourful umbrellas. The main restaurant, Kura Kura, is just as impressive and well priced for the quality of food and service. The beach area in front of the hotel is kept free of sun loungers, so although the beach is public, it never felt crowded. Do note that it’s a very popular beach to either side. Beach access is easy, and although I wouldn’t really consider Seminyak beach that good for a relaxing swim, the hotel has a lifeguard on standby throughout the day. The pool area is absolutely gorgeous and the photos you see online don’t really do it justice. The pool is staffed from 7am-7pm, but open 24/7 if you are looking for an early-morning or late-night dip. The sunsets from here are stunning, and being in the pool while the sun went down is not something I will forget anytime soon. The Oberoi Bali is a beautiful property with a real sense of history and place, unmatched service and impeccable food. It isn’t showy or trying to cater to current, shallow trends and fads, but instead presents itself as a hotel that is sure of itself and how it wants to make its guests feel – comfortable, cared for and like nothing is too much trouble. We cannot wait to be back.

This place was an amazing stay. Staff was welcoming and friendly! They found out it was our honeymoon and went the extra mile placing flowers and cakes as a surprise for us, and the food was amazing! It’s right by the beach but farther from the bars and music. A wonderful retreat from the city life outside. Beautiful gardens that are well kept

An amazing hotel set in beautiful spacious gardens. The staff were incredible and friendly, anticipating your every need. You really don't need to leave the hotel as the beach is at the front
