Puri Wulandari in Bali, Indonesia

With a tapestry of rice fields, verdant flora and blue skies, Puri Wulandari, is the perfect prescription for a healing retreat. Located in Ubud, Bali, the resort has luxurious amenities and features prevailing Balinese architecture that weaves a ribbon of allure throughout the property. With less than three dozen one- and two-bedroom villas swathed in over-the-top comforts, private retreats include living and dining areas, bathrooms with oversize tubs, and private swimming pools for an intimate plunge. All the necessary modern devices are present as well, from flat-panel televisions and DVD players to mini bars stocked with a stash of gourmet snacks and premium spirits.

There is a pair of dining venues to sample, and both will leave you feeling satisfied after a sumptuous meal. At the Janger Restaurant you will find fine dining and a menu of fusion fare, while Legong Terrace presents a selection of Italian and Mediterranean dishes that tantalize the palate. But it is Lila Ulangun Spa where guests tend to spend the most indulgent time, enjoying an ultra pampering menu of soothing treatments. This sanctuary houses open-air treatment rooms where massages and body polishes are administered in quiet comfort. There are steam and sauna chambers plus an infinity-edge pool for added pleasure. The resort's setting on an idyllic slope side that overlooks the Ayung River Valley, truly feels as if you have been transported to the ends of the earth - a place to clear your mind and relish in the moment.

I and my wife as a Muslim couple stayed here on 7-10 September 2017. I sent a request to the hotel for booking a villa in highest level with exact privacy because of religious Hijab of my wife. Fortunately, our villa was in the best location with good privacy. We received warm welcoming upon arrival in the lobby and we were transferred by a club car to the villa. Staff are polite, friendly and well trained. All of them are ready to assist with a friendly smile on their face. We were lucky that Rudy attended us during checking in and checking out process. Rudy is the best butler who I have ever met in a hotel. Thank you Rudy for every thing. Hotel is located in a breathtaking place with incredible view, specially its breakfast area near the main pool has an amazing view. Breakfast has 3 main categories including of American, continental and Indonesian menu with good variety. Breakfast is OK, although I preferred a buffet one. Our villa had a small but amazing private pool with beautiful view of jungle. The hotel is 20 minutes far from Ubud center with regular shuttle services to and from Ubud. Every thing in this hotel is excellent and we found here as the best place for relaxation in Bali. I hope that we could come back Bali to stay here again.

Literally, it's heaven on earth. Tranquility, cleanliness, privacy, beauty, relaxation! Very friendly staff. You get ur room cleaned twice a day. The food is amazing there! We loved every part of it! The only thing about it is that there are alot of bugs out there. Harmless. It is so natural that you find a lizard on ur wall or walking down the street, but if you ignore these creatures, you'll have the best times of ur life! A MUST!

Breathtaking view by default since the hotel is situated in a captivating location. The staff was courteous and their service was very good. We were told that we lucky to have got the best Pool Villa since it has the best view from all the other villas- Villa 113. This is true. Lovely view. However I felt that for a very fancy hotel like this they miss some very basic things - Example : I was disappointed that when I rang up and requested to borrow an iron to press my clothes myself in the room since they were in crushed state. I was replied to that they have a laundry service which includes ironing by the front desk. ( The other hotel I stayed at before arriving at Puri Wulandari offered me an iron to borrow with a smile even through the hotel was not high end or as expensive as this one they met my requests.) I did not want my clothes laundered - just wanted them ironed/ pressed so as to be presentable at the breakfast table. And I was informed that they do not have irons to borrow. This type of rigid policy should be reconsidered by the management as travelers generally don't pack their own irons due to weight concerns. The breakfast was great. But they had completely missed out to keep napkins at the table. For such a high end resort I expected white napkins at the tables but however did not even have paper tissues at the tables to use while dinning. It was not just my table but we noticed none of the guests had any napkins on their tables during breakfast. Also wish to suggest to have mini salt & pepper cellars available for diners who request for the same. I requested for salt and pepper for the soft boiled eggs I ordered. However the staff member came over with a giant woodan pepper cellar and offered to crush the pepper on my plate and took it back without leaving me the option of applying pepper on my food - as and how I wanted throughout my meal. Now that was NOT very fancy for such a fancy resort even though the concept of the steward crushing pepper off the cellar and taking it back may seem glamorous or stylish. Wish to request the management to have the bathroom ( The toilet ) checked in Villa 113 for better flushing functionality as it took a very long time to refill for the second flush. This was very annoying. On the day we arrived, there was a wedding happening and we were informed that due to the private function in progress , that area of the restaurant section was off limits. We completely understand and respect this situation. However even I was merely facing that direction and taking photographs of the flowers and nature in the closer proximity, I was politely reminded over and over again by the front desk staff that the area ahead of me is off limits due to the ongoing wedding ceremony and I found this very irritating since I heard them the first time and clearly acknowledged to them that I agree and understood this. There was no need for repetition of that order to create annoyance. Other than the above the staff is very polite. The Pool Villa Room 113 was great with a gorgeous view.

I would suggest anyone and everyone to stay here for at least a few nights if you visit Ubud! It's jaw dropping and unbelievable. We stayed in the Skirandi villa for 5 nights and it was arguably the best hotel we've been to in the world-- and we travel a lot. The infinity pool and jungles views on top of the Ayung River are remarkable. The private pool is very chilly though, no heater, so it was a bit of a bummer since the days we stayed weren't very hot. But, you'll get over that quickly since it's so beautiful. There's also a ton of wildlife around so we had to chase out a frog and other little critters from time to time. The butler service and waitresses at the restaurant are top notch! Each person greeted us anytime we walked the grounds, and were all accommodating and hospitable. Service was amazing!!! Included breakfast was SO delicious and they may have the world's best chocolate croissants. It's also so aesthetically pleasing with vibrant fresh fruit. The wifi in the villa is a bit spotty which can pose a problem since we needed it for business but worked about 95% of the time. We were also there during a wedding so there was only one night the music was terribly loud but we did not complain since we knew it was someone's special day. A bit surprising though at such a serene boutique resort. I'm sure this is an exception though. I give very honest reviews and with all things considered, I would stay here over and over if we frequented Bali! It's amazing! Thank you to all the staff a Puri Wulandari. Incredible experience we'll never forget celebrating our anniversary.
