Puri Wulandari in Bali, Indonesia

With a tapestry of rice fields, verdant flora and blue skies, Puri Wulandari, is the perfect prescription for a healing retreat. Located in Ubud, Bali, the resort has luxurious amenities and features prevailing Balinese architecture that weaves a ribbon of allure throughout the property. With less than three dozen one- and two-bedroom villas swathed in over-the-top comforts, private retreats include living and dining areas, bathrooms with oversize tubs, and private swimming pools for an intimate plunge. All the necessary modern devices are present as well, from flat-panel televisions and DVD players to mini bars stocked with a stash of gourmet snacks and premium spirits.

There is a pair of dining venues to sample, and both will leave you feeling satisfied after a sumptuous meal. At the Janger Restaurant you will find fine dining and a menu of fusion fare, while Legong Terrace presents a selection of Italian and Mediterranean dishes that tantalize the palate. But it is Lila Ulangun Spa where guests tend to spend the most indulgent time, enjoying an ultra pampering menu of soothing treatments. This sanctuary houses open-air treatment rooms where massages and body polishes are administered in quiet comfort. There are steam and sauna chambers plus an infinity-edge pool for added pleasure. The resort's setting on an idyllic slope side that overlooks the Ayung River Valley, truly feels as if you have been transported to the ends of the earth - a place to clear your mind and relish in the moment.

We spent 5 nights in a single room villa with pool . These are lovely villas large airy a mix of spaces and your own pool all very private and the jungle views are spectacular. This is the place to relax and to soak up the the peace. The complex is sited down a steep mountain side every rooms fronts the jungle with the river deep below. Your movement about the resort apart from walking are via buggies readily available. The surrounds and rooms are immaculately maintained. The breakfasts are excellent but the restaurant menu needs a makeover with the wine list extended and prices lowered if they want more guests to eat there..The resort is about a 15 minute drive into Ubud with regular shuttles running . The staff are very attentative and friendly, the massages highly recommended.

Definitively an unique view on the jungle and the rice fields of Bali. Never enjoyed before a room with such an incredible beautiful view of 360 degree.Very spacious villas with fabulous bathroom, including private shower outside. Perfect pool, but not heated.Very clean and comfortable. Breakfast at the terrace with the same incredible view. Just good, same is valid for dinner options at the restaurant or in the room. For the same value we got significantly better quality in other restaurants in Ubud as Locavore and Luxe BBQ. Very friendly staff but not consistently performing on a five star level, particularly at arrival.Guests are really there to enjoy the view and to rest, nothing else. For a more energetic environment you have to take the shuttle to the center of Ubud (30'). The only very energetic customers in the hotel are the frogs but the hotel staff tries to minimize disturbance with fluctuating success.

Our short stay here was remarkable. 2 bedroom villa on a bed & breakfast basis. The breakfast was amazing, more than enough, and the quality of food is second to none. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner on the first night in the hotel restaurant, again, the food was superb. Everything about this hotel is stunning and luxurious, spotlessly clean and well-maintained. The hotel is exactly as the promotional picture displays it. The views over the infinity pools are idillic. The staff are welcoming and very attentive, providing a high quality service. Our butler Wydia made sure our stay was perfect by ensuring we had everything we wanted. We would highly recommend this hotel if you are looking for complete relaxation and luxury. Thank you to all of the hotel staff for making our stay so enjoyable and memorable. We will return! 19/07/2017

I'm so glad we stayed here this last May 2017 and have nothing but good things to say about it. Although your on the out skirts of downtown Ubud (20-30 min away) it is well worth staying here if your up in the area. Every unit/room is basically your own huge villa with your own infinite pool that looks over the river jungle. In fact it was one of the best places we stayed in on our whole Bali trip. Unfortunately we only stayed two nights and wished we stayed more. This was a trip with my fiance and I'm not so sure it would be as great for a larger family with younger kids. The Best Parts of Puri: -The Views of the Jungle are amazing and your basically immersed right it. (so expect to see some critters like frogs, lizards, and even monkeys) - The staff was Amazing, very helpful, in fact we ate both our dinners at the Resort. One night they set up the villa so we can eat our dinner over looking the jungle. - The Individual Pools as well as the Main Pool. So cool, can't miss! - The breakfast was also really good and refreshing, not one single complaint! - THE RICE FIELDS IN THE ENTRANCE! There really is no need to leave the Resort to see the beautiful rice fields. They are literally all in front of the Resort. This was a big plus as we walked around for a morning stroll! So if you need a quiet comfortable place to stay, THIS is it! Here you can relax for a day and then get on with your Bali adventures!

My husband and I stayed for 3 nights during our 2 week trip to Bali and were impressed. The villa views are insanely gorgeous. Uninterrupted views of the jungle and we even spotted monkeys in the nearby trees. You feel like you're hidden away at a secluded jungle villa. The villas themselves are spacious. The outdoor showers are a treat. Although some villas did not seem to have full privacy as you'd hope. The pools are clean and refreshing and definitely usable. We enjoyed many hours soaking up the sun and lounging with the views in the evening. These were pretty private but again you could see through the shades. The rooms are clean but could probably use a sprucing up renovation soon. You can see how dated some of the finishes are but overall very clean and maintained. The staff is fantastic. We did experience a bit more profession at other hotels in Bali but we did enjoy chatting with the staff. Sometimes they seemed a little uncomfortable but overall very kind and hardworking. Room service was delicious and gorgeously set up. The one complaint is the pricing of the bar cocktails. We asked the bartender to recommend a cocktail and were recommended a mudslide. Upon receiving the bill we were astounded by the $36 USD equivalent price. For ONE cocktail. The hotel seems to train the staff to recommend this as it's the most expensive thing on the menu. They did make it right by covering our room service fee (which was about $22USD for salad, pizza, and dessert so relatively cheap in comparison). We enjoyed our stay and especially the grounds and the views!
