Puri Wulandari in Bali, Indonesia

With a tapestry of rice fields, verdant flora and blue skies, Puri Wulandari, is the perfect prescription for a healing retreat. Located in Ubud, Bali, the resort has luxurious amenities and features prevailing Balinese architecture that weaves a ribbon of allure throughout the property. With less than three dozen one- and two-bedroom villas swathed in over-the-top comforts, private retreats include living and dining areas, bathrooms with oversize tubs, and private swimming pools for an intimate plunge. All the necessary modern devices are present as well, from flat-panel televisions and DVD players to mini bars stocked with a stash of gourmet snacks and premium spirits.

There is a pair of dining venues to sample, and both will leave you feeling satisfied after a sumptuous meal. At the Janger Restaurant you will find fine dining and a menu of fusion fare, while Legong Terrace presents a selection of Italian and Mediterranean dishes that tantalize the palate. But it is Lila Ulangun Spa where guests tend to spend the most indulgent time, enjoying an ultra pampering menu of soothing treatments. This sanctuary houses open-air treatment rooms where massages and body polishes are administered in quiet comfort. There are steam and sauna chambers plus an infinity-edge pool for added pleasure. The resort's setting on an idyllic slope side that overlooks the Ayung River Valley, truly feels as if you have been transported to the ends of the earth - a place to clear your mind and relish in the moment.

One of my favourite places I've ever stayed. The staff are super keen to help and make sure every second of your stay is just how you want it. You have personal butlers always just a call away to help with anything you may need. When you order room service to your room, 3/4 staff turn up and set up your table and serve you privately, there's also a buggy service to and from the lobby to your hidden away forest villa, which is fully airconed. Serviced daily with special little cakes and chocolates. (Yum yum, was exciting getting back to see what was left for us) haha. Literally a full on relaxing experience- you don't even need to open your bedsheets to get into bed (afternoon bed turning service is provided) makes me sound super lazy however, I'm on holiday. Hour Shuttles into Ubud, the food was beautiful and also good vegetarian options..... Book this place, you will not be disappointed

We stayed here for a week with family for a nice quiet getaway in the jungle to unwind and relax. The two bedroom villa had a nice layout and the outdoor lounge room offered a nice place to relax overlooking the jungle with the sound of the river flowing below. The bar and restaurant were a little quiet whilst we were there and the food was priced a little higher than some other restaurants in the area. That said the manager did put on a complimentary dinner for us, which was very pleasant. Access to the villas is typically by golf cart as the property is very steep. Staff are efficient at picking you up so it is not too much of an inconvenience. Wildlife is close by. After leaving our doors open on the first day we found a monkey sitting in our fruit bowl, eating our bananas and snake skin fruit. He left peacefully enough and provided a good laugh. Overall a nice place and atmosphere.

The location was the best part of this resort. Our villa had an amazing view over the jungle, which was the first thing we saw waking up and swimming in the pool. The whole villa itself was very big a spacious. The wifi was bad, kept dropping out and was slow. Also have to keep longing in to connect. I dont like the buggy service, it was a bit of a wait at times. The villa was not as private as we thought, people could overlook in our pool etc. There were things which were included in lower star villas but had to pay for at this resort.

We have just returned from 8 wonderful nights here and would return soon if possible. Beautiful villa with indoor and outdoor living with great pool overlooking the jungle. Quiet location and great food with excellent room service. There is a shuttle into Ubud and a buggy service around resort. Main pool is stunning and quite large with infinity edges. Spa is the most beautiful I have ever seen and food prices are very reasonable. A true luxury boutique resort which will delight you from the moment you arrive. Sad to leave but we will be back. We stayed in a one-bedroom pool villa for 3 nights at Puri Wulandari. It was one of the best experiences I've ever had. The location of this property is incredible with unreal views of the forest and rice fields. Service and the way the hotel is run is exceptional. The staff is very friendly and go out of their way for guests. The villa was well maintained and well furnished. The food at the restaurants is good, especially the breakfast. I would plan a trip to Bali just to be able to stay here again!
