Soori Bali in Bali, Indonesia

Surrounded by verdant fields and fronting a beach of ebony sands along the Indian Ocean, Soori Bali is the newest resort to grace the Balinese coast. Located mere minutes from one of Bali's most hallowed sites, Tanah Lot Temple, the resort contains an enclave of multi-room villas with varying views. Strategically designed to make the most of its surroundings, each abode was created to complement nature and has its own pool, direct beach access, inner courtyards bathed in natural light, and al fresco pavilions for relaxing. Guests are privy to butler service, round-the-clock room service, wireless internet access throughout the resort, and sensual indoor/outdoor showers.

While it is perfectly plausible to want to stay sequestered behind the door of your own personal paradise, there are other elements to explore. The two-level restaurant, with its glass-walled kitchen, is unlike any other eatery you may have experienced. The menu is incredibly creative, and the collection of dining nooks - which includes terraces and balcony beds for an unconventional experience - definitely add verve to your meal. Aside from your private pool there is also an infinity-edge pool with sweeping ocean views that is available to all guests. You may want to lounge in a private cabana along the beach, replete with plush mattress and the services of a beach butler. The spa is another haven in which to indulge. Local villages are idyllic for getting a sense of the Balinese culture, including Abiantuwung which is known for its famed dance school where visitors can take lessons, and Kerambitan where the Royal Stable is found with its well-maintained horses. Enjoy a blissful paradise with every amenity imaginable at Soori Bali.

Soori is a very magical place, perfect for a quiet getaway. The view of the ocean is stunning especially from the villas in the private pool! Every villa has a private pool indeed and an open shower in nature! The black sand is mesmerizing and the SPA is perfect! The massages are super relaxing and very well done!

Stayed at Soori Bali for the Korean Thanks-Giving. The most amazing time I had with my family. Perfect place for a private getaway for couples and family with an exciting daily activities provided by the villa. Good food, amazing views throughout the whole villa, very friendly people, gym, yoga, massage, little book cafe by the restaurant. The private pool right infront of your living room was awesome. They have a bigger public pool, which no one ever use, right next to the restaurant. You will think it's a fountain at first but it's a pool and yes you can use it. Make sure to check out the temple near by or hike/bike through the town which can be arranged as a daily activity from the front desk. For sure, definitely going back again once the volcanoes calms down.

If you are after a quiet, relaxed Bali holiday where you can eat quality food, where the service is amazing and the location extraordinary then this is the place for you. Well designed, large villas with private swimming pools - we had an ocean view villa, spent our days in the pool watching the waves, black sand and local people working and playing. Our villa hosts were very accommodating and attentive to our needs. The spa is exceptional, products and service first class. They even have a Chinese medicine doctor - I had acupuncture and a spinal realignment done. We made use of the segways and took a tour around the local village.

From the minute you arrive at Soori, Marc and his team make you feel part of the Tabanan family. The resort is excellently maintained and provides a great facility for a BALI holiday removed from the noise and bustle of the main areas. We were fortunate to spend New Years at the resort and had an amazing dinner with fireworks and entertainment throughout the night.

We enjoyed our time at Soori. The food and service are quite good --in particular Ayu who lights up the dining room, the excellent Italian chef, and Eri who is the best pool attendant one could ask for! The design is also excellent, as one would expect given the caliber of the architect (Soo K Chan). There were a few areas for improvement that I think the management could focus on: 1. The rooms: we stayed in both a beach view villa and mountain view villa. The beach view was very dark and also felt dated. We enjoyed the mountain view much more. However, there are some frays on the edges and they could do with a refresh 2. Pricing: we ordered room service one night and every item price we were charged was different than the price listed in the menu (some were more and some were less). They need to make the prices consistent. When prompted, this was corrected as expected. 3. Beach garbage: the beach in front of the hotel is littered with tons of garbage and detracts from the ambiance. This was very different than Jimbaran Beach for example, which was much cleaner. I understand this is particularly pronounced in rainy season but the management should try to do a better job cleaning it. 4. Butler service needs to be clarified. When this property was an Alila, I believe the ratio of butlers to rooms was lower, and therefore, it was truly a bespoke/highly attentive service. Our "butler" service was more like a standard luxury hotel housekeeping service with 2x room cleaning (which makes sense as they staff this with a 10:1 ratio) but not someone who felt like a butler.
