Soori Bali in Bali, Indonesia

Surrounded by verdant fields and fronting a beach of ebony sands along the Indian Ocean, Alila Villas Soori is the newest resort to grace the Balinese coast. Located mere minutes from one of Bali's most hallowed sites, Tanah Lot Temple, the resort contains an enclave of multi-room villas with varying views. Strategically designed to make the most of its surroundings, each abode was created to complement nature and has its own pool, direct beach access, inner courtyards bathed in natural light, and al fresco pavilions for relaxing. Guests are privy to butler service, round-the-clock room service, wireless internet access throughout the resort, and sensual indoor/outdoor showers.

While it is perfectly plausible to want to stay sequestered behind the door of your own personal paradise, there are other elements to explore. The two-level restaurant, with its glass-walled kitchen, is unlike any other eatery you may have experienced. The menu is incredibly creative, and the collection of dining nooks - which includes terraces and balcony beds for an unconventional experience - definitely add verve to your meal. Aside from your private pool there is also an infinity-edge pool with sweeping ocean views that is available to all guests. You may want to lounge in a private cabana along the beach, replete with plush mattress and the services of a beach butler. The spa is another haven in which to indulge. Local villages are idyllic for getting a sense of the Balinese culture, including Abiantuwung which is known for its famed dance school where visitors can take lessons, and Kerambitan where the Royal Stable is found with its well-maintained horses. Enjoy a blissful paradise with every amenity imaginable at Alila Villas Soori.

Soori Bali is a perfect hideaway and you get a more local taste of the rural Bali. We stayed in both mountain view and beach front. My personal take is mountain field overlooking the rice paddy for its tranquility and a unique Bali flavour. Breakfast is a-la-carte which you can enjoy at the Cotta restaurant (can order many times) or at your own villa (can only order once). The food is close to fine dining standard. We also love the refreshing juice. The architecture, interior design and toiletries are all very nice, but what really melted our hearts is the service. All staff are very genuine and passionate to help us and make our stay pleasant and memorable. We have to thank Marc for managing the resort really well. He does a great job in catering to the needs of every guest. We didn't plan any activities during our stay, and Sana quickly help us plan a whole-day itinerary and we are happy with his recommendations. Pen working at the western restaurant Ombak not only introduced us food, but also introduced us to the Balinese culture, and kept our 4-year-old daughter entertained at all times. And special thanks to Darma the driver who maneuvered the narrow roads safe and fast, beat the traffic jam, showed us to nice places and brought us to nice local restaurants.

A hotel in between the beach and rice paddies, so yes, literally you can have them all. The hotel room was so huge with private pool inside and the staff was also super friendly and genuinely want to help in anything that you need. Go outside at 5PM to avoid the harsh sun light during the day.

This a lovely hotel set between beautiful rice paddies and a stunning soft black sand beach, sadly the sea is too dangerous to swim in but makes for a remarkable ever changing vista. The rooms are stylish, large and very comfortable with an equally comfortable sala everything you could want. Great food, terrific spa, excellent and friendly staff,a very visible and present manager,Marc,no wonder it runs so well. It is an hour and a half from the airport but in a comfortable car and I guess it's a small price to pay to reach this still unspoilt part of Bali.Very friendly locals and not a hustler in sight. If you want the "joys" of Kuta,Seminyak,Legian and these days Ubud probably not for you but if you yearn for the paradise that Bali was......absolutely. And now the reason I have written this review, amongst all this excellence one person stood out,Ayu who looked after us every night for dinner. She is one of those people who just light up a room, add her detailed knowledge of Balinese cooking and ingredients, her pleasure in describing local customs and culture and you have the perfect host. If I was still in the hotel business I would have stolen her away. Don't miss her or this lovely resort.

I attended an event at this location. Stayed over the weekend. I loved the beachfront villa and Villa's service was great. Get a flavor of Balinese life by taking a stroll around the local small community in the area. The people are extremely friendly and welcoming. One negative: there is a small river stream that ends in the beach at the far end of the resort. The water seems contaminated - murky and smelly. Avoid the area and swimming in the beach.

We enjoyed an 8 night luxury escape package in an ocean view villa. The view is amazing and well worth the upgrade. The room is spacious and clean with an outdoor shower and a double bath that looks out over the ocean. The outdoor area includes a pavilion with seating and plenty of shade and the pool has sunny areas all day. There is a locked gate to access the lawns and beach. The beach is soft black volcanic sand. Golf buggies are available to transport you around the grounds. The staff were amazing from the gardeners to the managers. Nothing was too much trouble and everyone greeted you with a smile. The breakfast was a tasting menu, changing daily, that encouraged you to eat out of the box. The evening menu covered a vast sample of local cuisine. Be aware this hotel is isolated so don't expect night life or alternative eating venues, and is probably not for first time tourists, but for those who are looking for luxury and serenity this is the resort to try. The villas facing the rice paddies might be a bit of a distance from the breakfast, pool area but are larger and have 2 banana lounges in the villa unlike the beach, ocean, villas. The local villagers use the beach in front of the resort but in no way impede on the tourists. The only negative would be the ATV tour groups that go past to the bat cave but then use the path up to the view making it impassible for those of us that want to walk up the track. I certainly would recommend this resort to returning tourists who are looking for something different but special.
