For comparison, we've stayed at Banff Springs before and wanted something a bit different this time, mainly air conditioning. Coming from Houston, we're accustomed to air conditioning year-round regardless of outdoor temperature. It may sound weird, but everyone has their own preferences. Overall, we enjoyed the stay. We booked two Signature Grandview Rooms on the 7th floor, and they are spacious with nice furniture, fireplaces and large balconies. The rooms felt a bit more like home as opposed to a standard hotel room, so if you're looking for more space to spread out, these suites might be right for you. We dined in Larkspur, Primrose and ordered from room service, and all the meals were good. I won't say the food is excellent, but we tried several different dining items and we were satisfied with most of them. Everyone we encountered from the staff was exceptional and willing to help. Valet, restaurant service, room service attendants and even the maintenance guys that had to fix a minor issue were courteous and willing to engage in a conversation. We had one mishap with front desk service help, and it's surprising how one person truly can ruin an experience with a bad attitude. If you're looking in the higher end price range, look at Banff Springs and Rimrock. They are comparable in some ways and different in some ways. It all depends what you're looking for. I wouldn't hesitate to stay at either hotel next time.

Enjoyed a week at RimRock resort with my family and our neighbours and their family. The rooms were very clean, comfortable and excellent views. While the rest of our group went skiing I enjoyed the spa and fitness center each day! The pool area was super clean and the steam room was lovely. I enjoyed the fitness equipment and book the squash court for my additional work outs each morning for a larger space! The staff at rimrock are friendly and helpful. The valet parking made things quite easy and the valet staff were very friendly. Housekeeping provided excellent cleaning of our rooms and she was so friendly as I had met her a couple of mornings and we would chat. Concierge was helpful and very friendly as well!!Check In desk was seamless and helpful. Had a delicious chai latte from the cafe and each morning the breakfasts were excellent and a very good variety was available either in the buffet or the menu. I will definitely be back next year and bring more family and friends with us. This was our first experience in Banff and the RimRock will keep us coming back. We were able to enjoy one of the promotions the hotel offers for stay, parking & breakfast so be sure to book through RimRock reservations directly and or their website definitely best prices.
We booked this after considering the nearby iconic, historic hotel. We were glad we did. Here are the pros and cons: Pros: reasonable price; even obstructed view room had spectacular views; restaurants are very nice; main public area has incredible views with a fireplace; outdoor areas are well maintained; staff helpful and friendly; room was clean and reasonably modern; located within walking distance of Banff Gondola and Upper Hot Springs. Cons: add $20 per day for self parking; breakfast not included in price; needs a more extensive snack “fast food” option.
