Tour guide Vincent who works also in the concierge was erudite and personable. For $83 Canabucks per person for the 5 hour tour — it was worth every penny. Rooms small and bathrooms dated but staff impeccable. Once there you do not need a car. Good thing as parking is a whopping $48 per day. Buses are the ticket in Banff!

Someone needs to say and be listened to as to how bad this hotel is. It cannot be allowed to rely on its beautiful views alone. The fact that the hotel is to fully close later this year for a full refurb must be a huge red flag !! Our non smoking room looks like it had been smoked in for the last 50yrs. Unkempt, uncared for, unclean and nothing in it is of a condition to survive beyond the refurb. Currently the front and sides of the hotel are clad in scaffolding with a letter in every room (so we were informed by management) stating work will be taking place every day between 9am to 5pm, so to have a builder on the rig outside our window shouting down 7 floors to his colleague at 7.45am, let's say no more, but he-ho, we did get an apology from the receptionist after I went down to inquire, this trip I had to make, as our telephone didn't work, and still doesn't, despite reporting it 1hr after our check-in. Also be aware the hotel takes a down payment of $250 Canadian upon check-in, quite normal these days, but, as soon as you charge anything to your room, even below this amount, they increase this amount without informing you!!! Upon check out our final bill was less than the $250 but they had still taken the extra without our permission or advising us this was going to happen. Interestingly, it will now take 3 days or more to re-enter our account, As we were informed it's all down to our own bank!! Banff is amazing and to leave on a positive note is that the majority of the staff here, have been warm, friendly and attentive. It must be so difficult to work on the front line in a hotel with so many obvious issues.

Power tool noises, front desk unresponsive. Was told it’s going to be every summer. Peeling paint, leaky faucets, cheap particle board furniture for $1k/day. Shame because restaurants are very good - Eden is world class restaurant- but hotel forgot was hospitality is about. Do not stay here, just go to Eden.

With a room on Floor 7 on the side of the building we had a beautiful view of the forest and mountains. With deer on the pathway below on both mornings. Breakfast was very good, though we did not have the buffet, but chose from the extensive menu. The Buttermilk pancakes were divine, enough for two. As was the Granola bowl. We had booked dinner on the first night and this was superb, though expensive. Suggest eating in Banff town and then having something from the Bar menu on an evening. The Charcuterie Share plate was very reasonable and beautifully presented. Wine was very expensive even when choosing local BC wine. All the staff were polite and accommodating. There are two free shuttle buses down into Banff and the hotel is walking distance of the Banff Gondola. Did not chance the pathway along the bottom of the hotel, as bears had been seen recently, though sadly did not see any. Did not have time to try the pool & spa & rain on both evenings spoilt the chance of sitting out on the Ground Floor area, but the views from the main bar and dining room worth it.

Although they offered bus passes, I found the location very remote. I prefer to walk out of a hotel right into the streets of Banff. The breakfast buffet was extremely nice. We called it the upside-down hotel, as you would go down from the lobby to floor 2, for example. Rooms comfortable, having room views in two directions. They offered slippers, had a bathmat (getting more rare) and magnifying mirror.
