Banyan Tree Bangkok in Bangkok, Thailand

There’s something to be said for a 21st-story outdoor swimming pool, but Banyan Tree Bangkok is not just a vertical resort. Situated in one of Southeast Asia’s most dynamic cultural centers, amidst the best retail and entertainment, this is a headquarters of sophistication. It even offers a “shopping companion” to guide you through the city’s alleyways. And with its aromatherapy burner, even your room is a journey for the senses. The restaurant’s 53rd-floor restaurant Taihei serves sake and sashimi in the clouds, and everyone from concierge to massage therapist extends the hospitality for which Thailand is known.

Indulge in a breakfast of banana pancakes and a traditional Thai coffee, sweetened with condensed milk. Energized, visit Bangkok’s Grand Palace, the home of Thailand’s president, and stroll through the famous Buddhist temple Wat Pho, home of the giant Reclining Buddha. On your way to the river, you’ll only need a couple dozen baht to enjoy the street food: chicken satay, mango sticky rice, roast pork belly or a shell of coconut milk. Board Banyan Tree’s own “Aspara” riverboat and enjoy an elegant dinner of crab in coconut broth as you see the traditional floating markets in action.

I had a room change on checkin and the front desk was extremely accommodating and made every effort to make it happen notwithstanding that I booked a prepaid package (which means changes are not allowed). The club level service staff were exceptional. I had to prepare a reference letter urgently for one of my co-workers on the day of arrival and needed help with printing and scanning and they made it happen without a charge. Saffron and Vertigo were also amazing in terms of service. Extremely attentive, particularly Vertigo - since I was there alone they made every effort to chat me up and made me feel engaged. Still one of my favourites in Bangkok!

A good hotel with superb Thai service let down by old rooms in desperate need of renovation. The lobby and spa area certainly lived up to its reputation of a premium hotel. However, one step into the room/suite was shockingly disappointing. The decor looks from the day the hotel first opened, back in the 90s.

I hardly recommend this hotel because of the good location, the Vertigo restaurant and service. Very nice stay on Bangkok. You shouldn't miss the Vertigo restaurant which is situeted on the roof od the hotel.

I stayed here for 3 nights in a twin bedroom suite. I was allocated a room high up as I had requested. Although the hotel is lovely, and the views are stunning from the rooftop bar, I felt the service was impersonal at times. Also, when I arrived early afternoon Thu. Feb. 8th and asked to check into my room, where I was going to be staying with my friend, I was given one room key. When I asked for a second key for my guest, I was actually told by the rather snooty (and silly) girl on reception (wish I had caught her name at the time) - "we only issue one room key". Stunning response. I then had to explain to her why two people staying in a room require two key cards. It also states in the room guide to ask for another key if you need one, but of course, this is a given, in any case. So anyway, if management do read this review - maybe train some of your staff better, as you are dealing with a very cosmopolitan, international clientele, who expect to be treated with courtesy. I also did find the beds a little uncomfortable and on the small side, but the hotel in general is very beautiful and worth a stay, and the room otherwise, was stunning. However, what makes a luxury hotel for me, in a city filled with luxury hotels, is the personal touch and service.
