Banyan Tree Bangkok in Bangkok, Thailand

There’s something to be said for a 21st-story outdoor swimming pool, but Banyan Tree Bangkok is not just a vertical resort. Situated in one of Southeast Asia’s most dynamic cultural centers, amidst the best retail and entertainment, this is a headquarters of sophistication. It even offers a “shopping companion” to guide you through the city’s alleyways. And with its aromatherapy burner, even your room is a journey for the senses. The restaurant’s 53rd-floor restaurant Taihei serves sake and sashimi in the clouds, and everyone from concierge to massage therapist extends the hospitality for which Thailand is known.

Indulge in a breakfast of banana pancakes and a traditional Thai coffee, sweetened with condensed milk. Energized, visit Bangkok’s Grand Palace, the home of Thailand’s president, and stroll through the famous Buddhist temple Wat Pho, home of the giant Reclining Buddha. On your way to the river, you’ll only need a couple dozen baht to enjoy the street food: chicken satay, mango sticky rice, roast pork belly or a shell of coconut milk. Board Banyan Tree’s own “Aspara” riverboat and enjoy an elegant dinner of crab in coconut broth as you see the traditional floating markets in action.

A superb hotel in a crazy city! It really was a haven of tranquility to come back to every day after exploring the sites. We were lucky enough to have an upgrade, and enjoyed the lounge service (the staff are just amazing!) but the ultimate was the rooftop dining - utterly fabulous! Expensive, but unique. If you get the chance, treat yourself. The Banyan Tree really does offer sublime service, we can't single out any one staff member, they were all so lovely - professional yet approachable, discrete yet ready to divulge little insights into Thai culture.

AVOID THIS PLACE. The staff lied to me at check in, took money from my account without my knowledge or authorisation, when I asked them why I was smirked at and told there was nothing they could do apart from say 'sorry' and hopefully it will be returned in the next couple of weeks (I now need to waste more time talking to my bank to get the payment stopped and returned). The food was awful - think microwave meal or plane food level - and totally over priced. The rooms and pool were OK. The spa was lovely - but you don't need to be a guest to use it so you would be better off staying in a place that actually values their customers and then heading over for here for a treatment, but undoubtably the spa is no better than any of the other higher level hotels.

Hotel was clean and professional. Food choices and quality not what I expected for a hotel at this level. Restaurants and bars busy. Some tour groups were noisy and loud. Staff very helpful and professional.

We have just spent an amazing few days here where the staff are second to none. A more polite, efficient team we have not come across before. The food is amazing from breakfast to dinner in Saffron Restaurant. A special mention to Mr Wat who organised a personal tour for us with a taxi to the floating markets and a visit to the Grand Palace. We would recommend a stay here to anyone visiting Bangkok.

From the moment I arrived at this hotel, I knew that this place was going to be one of best Bangkok hotel stay. Front desk greeted with a natural sweet flower drink and showed where the seating were. Checking in was amazing!! No need to wait in line. Everything was fast and done as I sat in the comfortable chairs! The room had an intimate and romantic vibe. Fresh fruit and stocked goodies. The view from the tub was breath-taking. Huge bathroom with his and her sink. Only disappointment: Rooftop bar is more intimate. Darker than other Bangkok rooftop. Everyone was seated. Really hard to stand to get good view due to other guests seatings.
