About the Hotel

There’s something to be said for a 21st-story outdoor swimming pool, but Banyan Tree Bangkok is not just a vertical resort. Situated in one of Southeast Asia’s most dynamic cultural centers, amidst the best retail and entertainment, this is a headquarters of sophistication. It even offers a “shopping companion” to guide you through the city’s alleyways. And with its aromatherapy burner, even your room is a journey for the senses. The restaurant’s 53rd-floor restaurant Taihei serves sake and sashimi in the clouds, and everyone from concierge to massage therapist extends the hospitality for which Thailand is known.

The Banyan Tree Bangkok: marvellous as always with some exciting new touches

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 7 hours ago

Since 2011, we have the pleasure of coming back to the Banyan Tree Bangkok every few years. Each time we count the days until our stay, and our hearts make a happy leap when we cross the threshold – this blessed experience is made even better by not only seeing the friendly smiling faces of the staff, but by recognizing several of them. This time, our arrival was made even more joyful by Khun Boyo and Khun Trii at the Concierge desk and by Khun Jimho who handled our check-in with the same grace as last year. One of the highlights was to receive an upgrade to the highest-floor room the hotel has to offer, and we were delighted to take the elevator up to floor 58 and to make room 5809 our home for a few nights. We read some reviews and noticed guests complaining about noise from the restaurant floor above – we did not find that disturbing. If you wonder about a special unmentioned perk you can expect on a high floor: In the morning you will wake up to the chirps of singing birds and the view of their spectacular flights right outside your bedroom window. The room itself was splendid, tastefully furnished, impeccably clean, and very welcoming. The gentle room renovations over the last 15 years have resulted in a more spacious and airy feel, and the bathroom is much lighter, which is a real benefit. The shower is huge, the free-standing bathtub stunning (though it remained unused), and the double wash basins come in handy when preparing for a nice dinner. There could be a little more closet space, but we have to admit that we were burdened with luggage from 2+ weeks. For our 3-night stay, the closet space was definitely more than enough, and we thoroughly enjoyed calling 5809 our home for a few days. As mentioned, our stay was made even more memorable by meeting so many staff members we had encountered before. We highly recommend visiting this lovely hotel more than once – it adds a very personal and beautiful touch to know your way around, to recognize people and to be recognized, and in our mind long-term staff retention really speaks to the quality of an establishment. Our special thanks go to: Khun Wat who took us from the hotel to Lumphini station in the electric Tuk-Tuk – this is a real highlight, do not miss the experience when you’re a hotel guest! Khun Suksan, Khun Ptaschaken, Khun Korakit (“Badminton”), and Khun Angela at the pool area – stunning as always with the most enjoyable afternoon nibbles and drinks. Khun Sabmai for keeping the plants watered in Bangkok’s heat and for not being bothered by us early-morning swimmers. Khun Ray, Khun Aor, Khun Nine, Khun Fong, Khun Jimmy, Khun Anny and of course Khun Chef Chongchai at breakfast. Starting the day with this fabulous breakfast is always a treat – and since the downstairs restaurant is closed for renovation, the breakfast was moved to floor 60. You can imagine that not only our mouths and tummies were in for our treat, but also our eyes – enjoying the first meal of the day with a splendid view Bangkok was really special. Khun Namton at Saffron for taking the time to chat and reminisce during our afternoon drinks and telling us about exciting upcoming redecorations – we are already excited to see what the Banyan Tree will reveal. Khun Pop at the Apsara cruise for doing an excellent job presenting the dishes over the fairly loud saxophone music. Aside from the delicious dinner creations, we enjoyed the most impressive moments of the cruise on the top deck, floating along the majestic Chao Phraja and enjoying the skyline of Bangkok. Khun Tik and Khun Aree at the spa area for the most wonderful massages of our entire trip (and this being Thailand, land of perfect massages, this says a lot!). Whenever you stay at the Banyan Tree, do find the time to indulge in a spa treatment – it is truly blissful. Khun Mint and Khun Baas for housekeeping and the careful treatment of our clothing. … and finally, Khun Nicky at check-out for making the sad moment of farewell much more bearable with a professional and personal touch. Thank you all so very much for warming our hearts with beautiful moments and lasting memories. We are already longing to come back!

I would like to sincerely compliment Mr. Naris for his outstanding service at Banyan Tree Bangkok. He was extremely helpful and professional throughout my stay and assisting smoothly with the check-in process, helping to find the room, and clearly explaining all the room details and hotel facilities. His warm hospitality, attentiveness, and excellent customer service truly made the experience comfortable and memorable. Thank you, Mr. Naris, for going above and beyond to ensure guests feel welcomed and well taken care of

A poor experience

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 16 hours ago

We stayed in this hotel as part of our holiday in Thailand for my 45th birthday. We stayed here for 3 nights. My husband had been planning this trip all year and had worked with the hotel concierge on organising restaurants and activities. On our first night, my birthday, we dined on the rooftop and had an amazing experience with dinner and drinks. It was extremely expensive but the food was delicious and views spectacular. It really is great up there. Unfortunately that’s where the good experiences ended. The following day we had Muay Thai boxing booked. We had booked this with the hotel concierge in January and reconfirmed everything before arrival. When we went to collect our tickets we were told they didn’t have them and that the event was sold out. What makes matters worse, they tried to blame this on us saying we should have come to pay for the tickets as soon as we checked in the day before. Because we didn’t, they let the tickets go. I want to point out we had always offered to pay for the tickets in advance, we were always told we didn’t need to. At no point during check in, did they say we must pay for the boxing tickets. If they would have told us during check in, we would have. At no point did they attempt to contact us to pay for the tickets before releasing them. Such a lack of care that I don’t believe the ever had the tickets. The manager found us another boxing event to go to but it was a real disappointment as the event was empty and lacked the atmosphere we were excited for at the Rajadamnern arena, where we should have been. I feel the hotel didn’t deal with this serious lack of error in the correct way. Throughout all the conversations, it was clear the manager was not prepared to offer a good enough form of compensation to rectify the error. Errors happen. The sign of a good hotel is when they recognise this and make it right to gain back the customers trust. I now will now no longer trust this hotel brand and so will never stay with them again. A shame as I’ve stayed in many Banyan Tree resorts over the years and was looking forward to organising my next trip with them in Krabi.

The hotel was excellent, good size club rooms, with a great stylish bathroom, the club service was amazing with a good selection of food, the club staff were very helpful. We usually stay in the hotel next to the Banyan Tree which we love, but would come back to this hotel again for sure.
