Banyan Tree Bangkok in Bangkok, Thailand

There’s something to be said for a 21st-story outdoor swimming pool, but Banyan Tree Bangkok is not just a vertical resort. Situated in one of Southeast Asia’s most dynamic cultural centers, amidst the best retail and entertainment, this is a headquarters of sophistication. It even offers a “shopping companion” to guide you through the city’s alleyways. And with its aromatherapy burner, even your room is a journey for the senses. The restaurant’s 53rd-floor restaurant Taihei serves sake and sashimi in the clouds, and everyone from concierge to massage therapist extends the hospitality for which Thailand is known.

Indulge in a breakfast of banana pancakes and a traditional Thai coffee, sweetened with condensed milk. Energized, visit Bangkok’s Grand Palace, the home of Thailand’s president, and stroll through the famous Buddhist temple Wat Pho, home of the giant Reclining Buddha. On your way to the river, you’ll only need a couple dozen baht to enjoy the street food: chicken satay, mango sticky rice, roast pork belly or a shell of coconut milk. Board Banyan Tree’s own “Aspara” riverboat and enjoy an elegant dinner of crab in coconut broth as you see the traditional floating markets in action.

We, altogether 9 people, were staying in the hotel between 19 June and 22June 2017. The hotel was classy and the rooms were very spacious. The service was intimate. All staff were very well mannered and helpful. Yet there was an incident of not letting two of my friends entering the Moon Bar, merely because of wearing sandals and short pants, slightly wrecked our high appraisal. Ms Chu

We stayed at the Banyan Tree for 3 nights in June 2017 on the final leg of our honeymoon Positives: The limo driver from the airport was amazing. So friendly and informative. Very nice guy. The staff on the front desk were also lovely and helpful The room was spacious and the bed was comfortable and really big. The bathroom was lovely too and very big. The breakfast selection is fantastic and caters for all nationalities The pool area is great and the staff that come round offering to clean your sunglasses etc. are a very nice touch Wifi throughout the hotel is great The Skybar (not Vertigo) is incredible. That's been done really, really well and the drinks, service and surroundings were faultless. I'd go back to the Banyan Tree to have another drink in that bar. Vertigo restaurant was also a highlight of our trip although you don't need to be a guest in the hotel to eat there Negatives: The staff at breakfast do not speak good enough English. I asked for a knife and wasn't understood. The room was lovely and modern but our shower head was broken, the bath plug was broken and the maid was rubbish. She left rubbish around the room for our entire stay, empty bottles of water etc. Annoying for things like the shower to not work properly...! The room service was awful, we ordered a pizza on our first night and it was really bad. We also specifically asked them not to forget some ketchup and mayonnaise or something similar and they did forget For a luxury hotel there's definite room for improvement. I'd go back to the Banyan Tree for the Skybar and Vertigo restaurants but not to stay.

We stayed in the 2 room suite. The room was spacious and the service was excellent with very responsive and attentive staff. A slight problem is that the food in the club lounge was the same every day.

I stayed one night here and got an amazing deal on the room - bedroom and living room. Really nice place. Friendly and helpful staff. Great views from 41st floor. Definitely recommended and in a good location

Spent 3 nights at Banyan and was extremely disappointed. We arrived at about 8am following a 12 hour flight and were absolutely shattered. The entrance was quite grand and looked very promising. Check in was smooth and fortunately for us, our room was ready even though check-in is officially at 2pm. Our room was on the 45th floor, which had a lovely view, and that was where it stopped. The room was stale and dated with dusty shelves and cupboards that made me sneeze continuously. I requested a room change due to this stale stench that would not go. I was told that the room would be sprayed with "air freshener." We were eventually moved to the 47th floor, which was 'slightly' better. Staff were very pleasant and did their best to attend to our requests. We didn't have breakfast but dined at Vertigo roof top which had amazing views of the city at night. The gym was well equipped and the pool on the 21st floor albeit small, was very nice at night with nice views of the city. With a bit of a re-vamp the hotel has the potential to be more than the current 3 stars(advertised as 5 stars) that it is now. Until that happens, will definitely not be staying at Banyan Tree Bangkok again.
