Reviews for lebua at State Tower
We came to the Lebua State Tower for our final night of the holiday. We were initially told we couldn't enter due to our footwear - so we did have to go and change. The drinks are VERYYYYYYY pricey but I would say you do have to experience this whilst in Bangkok. Very chilled vibe/atmosphere and could have stayed up there for hours.

For our last night we booked a 3 bedroom suite. Ours was on the 24th floor. The suite is HUGE and the views beautiful. The check-in staff and bellmen were excellent. Tons of space, full kitchen, even a washer and dryer. We also enjoyed the sky bar on the 64th floor.

Way to go Lebua - how to ruin what should have been an exceptional stay. This was our second visit to Lebua and, no question, things have gone down hill considerably. Under the management of Sven Brunssen this hotel has taken rules and regulations way beyond the norm and the net impact has been hugely deleterious in terms of the overall experience. Should you be thinking of visiting on the basis of the Sky Bar - don't bother. It's massively over-priced and, although the view is stunning, this sadly does not compensate for the other limitations. Just one example - we paid over 2000 Baht for 2 martinis (equivalent of Ā£45) - this would be bad enough in itself but, to add insult to injury, the vodka served was not even premium - it was Absolut! If you are pitching a premium experience then you must at least serve a genuinely premium brand. on top of this we were originally denied access as there is a requirement now that men wear full length trousers and closed shoes - despite temperatures of 95 degrees! We are well travelled and so do understand the need to set in place standards to maintain desired decorum but, in the hotel's desperate attempt to create the right perceived ambience, they have sacrificed experience for rules. Indeed the manager had the audacity to say that we had paid only for the room - no we paid for a 'hotel experience' which extends beyond the room alone and we were sorely disappointed. To say nothing of the fact that there is one rule for men and another for women - this is the worst kind of reverse sexism. Bottom line there is an undeniable sense of the staff being required to ENFORCE rules rather than engendering a holistic, customer facing ambience. Given the plethora of great hotels in Bangkok I'd avoid this one at any cost. As one example check out the Riva Surya; much smaller and with a rooftop bar only on the fifth floor. However, the staff were attentive, the drinks reasonably priced and the experience infinitely better! We won't be back...great breakfast mind!

Stayed here with my girlfriend for 3 nights during a trip through Thailand. I've visited many 'top' hotels in Bangkok over a period spanning 20 years. This is a hotel I wouldn't stay at again. The lifts service many other businesses within the tower including restaurants and apartments. There's simply not enough of them and you can find yourself waiting an age to get to your room which I find quite irritating. The room itself was pleasant enough. My other major issue was the queue at breakfast. I don't expect to have to wait in a huge line to get seated at breakfast. After 10 minutes I gave up and went outside the hotel to eat instead.

The room was nice and we had a great balcony. The pool restaurant had great food, especially the breakfast. The skybar was okay. Cramped but a great view. Overall, this was a nice hotel but way too much for this city. We got just as nice of the room, great food, and tons of scenic rooftop bars all over the city and for 3/4 of the price. Also, I know there ferry and skytrain are right there, but I felt like it was a little far from the action. It took almost 30-40 minutes to get anywhere by public transit, which does not seem like much but in 100 degree Bangkok heat, it's torture. If you don't have a burning need to stay here try to find something closer to the Grand Palace or off Soi 11
