lebua at State Tower

This is the first time I am writing a review instead of doing my homework before making a booking. That is how easy it is to go back to Lebua. I stayed there in the last week of August last year. It was my first time in Thailand, a work trip, and I was nervous. As a queer traveller, the hotel is always the most important decision. I know it’s Thailand and it’s welcoming, but it’s always good to have assurance when brands go an extra mile to showcase their inclusivity initiatives. One key picture in taking that decision, was the Rainbow lights projected on the hotel facade. That told me that the hotel doesn't shy away from embarcing inclusivity boldly. Lebua DELIVERED. I felt safe and welcomed every single second of my stay. People from the community are present across the hotel in many roles, which instantly assures you the moment you checked in. Talked to a few Gay couples and queer guests, and they too were evidently comfortable in every space. Later in the year, a trans friend stayed for two nights on my recommendation and fell in love with the hotel too. The food was one of the biggest highlights. Hands down, Lebua serves THE BEST Mango Sticky Rice in Bangkok. I tried the ones from two very famous spots — K Panich included — and Lebua's still sits on top. Mango Sticky Rice = Lebua Bangkok. The hotel is situatued at a great location with convenient connectivity. The luxury and personal touches are unmatched. I came back to my room one day and my name was stitched on the pillow. Who does that!!!! You remember Lebua not just for the facilities and service, but for their people, and they make sure you feel seen. Thank you to each and everyone in the Lebua team for an unforgettable experience. I am coming back in a month. Iconic in every sense!!

Amazing stay, great place. Lebua is an extraordinary hotel.

I have stayed at Lebua several times over the past 15 years, and unfortunately this will be my last visit. The hotel has failed to keep up with the standards expected of a true 5-star property. I stayed in a Family Suite, but for the same price you can find many newer and far better hotels in Bangkok. The rooms are clearly showing their age and are long overdue for a complete renovation. It feels like the hotel is still living off its glory days rather than investing in its future. As for the rooftop bar… the views are spectacular, but the prices are even more breathtaking. Charging up to 3,000 THB (around $100) for a cocktail is simply absurd. Bangkok is full of world-class rooftop bars serving excellent drinks at reasonable prices, so unless you’ve always dreamed of paying luxury-watch prices for a cocktail, there are much better options. It almost feels like the hotel is still charging “Hangover movie” prices. The movie was filmed here many years ago—but time has moved on, while much of the hotel hasn’t. I genuinely hope Lebua invests in a full renovation and rethinks its pricing strategy, because it has incredible potential. Until then, I can’t recommend it considering what else Bangkok offers for the same money.

The service is top notch and being located at the hotel with such a lovely rooftop bar, restaurant, stage, etc. is the real pleasure. You really don't have to leave at all.
