We were greeted at the airport as arranged and transported in 7 series BMW through very busy Bangkok to the hotel. On arrival we were whisked straight up to our room which was a spacious, pristine Grand Deluxe room with sweeping views of the river. Some people have noted that the rooms are dated. On one hand I would agree in so far as they are certainly not contemporary, however they are decorated classically in warm tones and immaculately maintained. After a sound sleep we had breakfast the next day in the River Cafe & Terrace restaurant. Staff go out of their way to seat you where you choose. We opted for outside on the terrace which although busy, manages to be a relaxing space which is a lovely way to start the day. The food offering has something for everyone and is of a high quality and plentiful. The pool area is charming and tranquil. Again, staff stand out. They help you to find a lounger ensuring that you are happy and comfortable. Service is efficient and friendly. It is a lovely place to unwind. We also ate at the Thiptara Thai restaurant which is located by the river. It is really pretty at night. The food was excellent and the staff even better. The common vein running through this review is about how wonderful the staff are at the Peninsular. We had interaction with many and without exception they were some of the best. We have visited Bangkok many times over the years and last stayed at the Peninsula around 15 years ago. We wish that we had returned sooner, however we are glad that at last we did. We look forward to staying again soon. Our stay ended by being transported back to the airport where we were met, helped with checking in for our flight before saying our warm goodbyes!

As usual, the best hotel chain in Asia. Everything perfection. Prices are to be expected but in no way abusive. Staff with the classic Thai courtesy and hospitality. Will come back again and again

The Peninsula is one of the grand old hotels of Bangkok. It is luxurious and a great experience. We don't usually stay in hotels like this - 5* big hotels as we prefer smaller boutique type hotels. This trip we stayed for a week at another more contemporary hotel and decided to spend our last 3 days on the river. In that regard the riverfront location cannot be beat. Fabulous views and the terrace bar/restaurant sits right on the water's edge. The style of the hotel is old fashioned and could use a bit of an upgrade to more contemporary furniture but it is well maintained, pristine condition. The pool is spectacular, the pool bar service amazing and unparalleled. Actually all the staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. The boat service at your request (with no planning) gets you across the river, to Icon Siam and to the BTS station, which is so helpful and fun. Our only real criticisms, minor as they are, include lack of plugs next to both sides of the bed, toilet seats that aren't soft closing, and the kind of sappy old pop music they sometimes played in the lobby. Sometimes, it was nice quiet classical music, sometimes a small live group, so it varied. The breakfast buffet was spectacular. We didn't eat at the Thai restaurant or Chinese restaurant so can't comment. We got an upgrade to a suite which was HUGE and with spectacular 180 degree view of the river. What ever you do, get a room on the riverside with a view. I'd highly recommend for a spectacular riverside experience with great service.

This is a beautiful old hotel in a good location. It could use some updating in some areas, but the room was spacious with a lovely river view. The hotel provides a boat shuttle to the nearby shopping mall. The open air restaurant was the perfect place to enjoy the delicious buffet breakfast every morning. The largest negative is that the elevators are woefully inadequate. There are not nearly enough elevators for a hotel this size and they are not synchronized or modernized in any form. We repeatedly stopped on floors where no one got on or off the elevator, making every ride take forever. Also, wait times for an elevator to arrive exceeded 10 minutes more than once.

A luxurious hotel with excellent service. The staff were very attentive, the room was extremely comfortable, and the breakfast was outstanding.
