We spent a happy two and a half days here recently. A lovely oasis set apart from the Bangkok madness. The front desk staff were a delight for the entire stay - we were upgraded, and our room was perfect. At one point we walked along the riverside path at the front of the hotel and looked over into the rather average hotel next door - which just emphasised that the qualities of the Riva Surya. A couple of minor criticisms - the central piece of resistance kit in the gym was out of action, which was a blow for me, as I like to exercise every day. And we decided that the team working around the pool needed to learn the maxim 'if you have time to lean, you have time to clean'. That's it really. The pizzas are really very good. :)

Situated in the perfect spot for exploring Bangkok's Old Town, the Riva Surya was absolutely fantastic. Right away, the staff was super friendly and made sure that we felt right at home. One of the first things we wanted to do upon arrival was to explore the city, Khao San Road, and exchange money. The staff gave us great directions and recommendations. The room was amazing; the view of the river and city was very nice and gave a great energy. It was clean and comfortable and great place to call "home" for a few days. The pool was very nice, as was the bar and restaurant, which served a variety of drinks and a great mixture of local and western food options. One of the best experiences we had during our whole trip through Vietnam and Thailand was a Tuk Tuk Street Food Tour, which the location of the hotel made for a perfect pick up spot. It's also very well situated for visiting the Grand Palace, Wat Arun, and many other sight seeing destinations. And, while a little pricier than other hotels, I would argue that, for what you get and where you get it, it's extremely competitive and well within reason.

I stayed here on December 9th and had a wonderful experience. Every single member of the staff—regardless of their role—was incredibly friendly and polite. The rooms were spotless and offered a beautiful view. Highly recommend for anyone looking for great service and a clean stay
