I trusted fellowTripAdvisors and booked this hotel for my husband and I for our last night in Bangkok- and we were not disappointed! The views of the river were great! (Although the river is definitely dirty so be warned!!) The hotel does a BOGO happy hour from 5 to 7 so be sure to try one of their super refreshing cocktails as you sit on the deck and watch the longboats go by! The hotel facilities and staff were also top notch! We were greeted promptly with a welcome drink and cool towel, which was perfect to escape the Bangkok humidity and heat. The staff took great care of us, and our room was a peaceful oasis away from the chaos on the street. We loved this hotel and would stay here again!

We booked city view room. We were little bit afraid of the street noise from the road but the room has 2 doors in between the balcony. Could not hear anything from outside. Room cozy and nice bed. Many restaurants and coffee shops around and close pier for public boat.

Perhaps a caveat is in order here before I continue with this review. While this hotel is quite wonderful, it is not the Mandarin Oriental or some other super-luxe, huge corporate hotel. After going to the Mandarin Oriental though, I would much rather stay here since it was quiet, not corporate (stay in enough of those for work!), close to everything, and right on the water. This is a small boutique hotel that really goes the extra mile in service to make up for its small size. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and had all the usual amenities. The bathroom is a nice size but would be nice to have a fan to suck up all the shower steam. However, I have noticed that many hotels are forgoing the bathroom fan...I wonder why? The hotel has a small pool next to a restaurant with river views. It is a little up the river so you cannot see the Wat Arun or other sites but it is nice nonetheless. I had a massage poolside but I do not know if I would recommend it. The only reason is that they did not have a massage table (with the face hole) but rather it was performed on the cabana lounge chair which gave me a little neck crick. Get the breakfast option because the food is quite yummy here. If you do not want to eat at the hotel, there are plenty of cafes and restaurants within walking distance. Lots of street vendors too who sell freshly squeezed juices (almost didn't get one because I thought the person was squeezing lime juice...Thai oranges are small!). Overall, an incredible value for the location, amenities, etc. I was very surprised as I was not sure what to expect driving up but it really was what a boutique hotel should be.

I've just stayed at the Riva Surya Bangkok and cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. The room was lovely, the hotel restaurant atmosphere and food were excellent and the warm feel of the place isn't just due to the stylish and tasteful decor but more down to the staff who were extremely helpful, polite and funny. I even had a Thai massage after a long day sight seeing and it was the best I have had in Thailand, having had one or two after diving on Phi Phi! As a lone traveller they made me feel welcome from the second I arrived to when I left. I will certainly stay here again when I'm next in Bangkok and would advise anyone looking for a modern boutique type hotel to choose the Riva Surya.....and if you weren't look no further! 10/10 for me (or 5/5 for TripAdvisor!)

We spent our first 3 nights in Thailand here and couldn’t have had a better base for a first visit to Bangkok. The room is spacious and well equipped, with a large balcony offering great views of the river. The pool area is a relaxing place to hang out and cool down after a day of sight seeing. If Khao San Road is your thing, it’s a short walk from the hotel. You can avoid Bangkok traffic by taking the Chao Praya Express Boat: 15 baht and 10mins to get to the Grand Palace and Wat Pho (the breeze and view are free). There a plenty of places nearby to eat and drink but the hotel's restaurant is very good. And to top it off: the staff are very friendly and helpful. It gets top marks.
