The Siam Hotel in Bangkok, Thailand

Board a private speedboat bound for The Siam Hotel at Saphan Taksin central pier and leave Bangkok’s chaos behind. This urban retreat, part of the Legend collection of Preferred Hotels & Resorts, is a one-of-a-kind marriage of traditional Thai culture and delicious Art Deco ornamentation designed by “Architectural Digest’s Top 100” recipient Bill Bensley and overseen by Krissada Sukosol Clapp, a Thai pop singer and actor who won the country’s equivalent of a Best Actor Oscar. The resort sits on three acres of riverfront land in the royal Dusit district and draws inspiration from Paris’s Musée d’Orsay. Guests are blanketed in tranquility in oversized suites teeming with antiques.

Rise early and call your butler for breakfast to be delivered to your suite. Take a walk along the Chao Phraya River. Join the resort’s guest practitioner for some breezy vinyasas on the outdoor yoga deck. Recline by the riverside infinity pool. Order a traditional Thai whiskey soda to sip poolside. And dine on homemade curries in a former private residence that entertained glitterati including Jackie Kennedy and John Rockefeller.

Everything about my experience was exceptional. The arrival experience is fantastic, as one relishes the incredible art collection. This is somehow then matched by the incredible gardens and central court yard. Each room is different and totally unique - worth the expense, The hotel colleagues were attentive and very knowledgeable. My dining experience was one of the best in Bangkok. The Easy Set - a degustation of incredible Thai dishes was sensational. I wish I hadn’t eaten for 3 days before so I could have made even more room for this delicious dietary delight ! Treat yourself to the complimentary boat trip back towards central Bangkok,

Sadly only got to stay one night at the end of our holiday and wish we could have stayed longer. Gorgeous design, amazing antiques, boxing ring in the gym and stunning pool by the river. Really sumptuous and spacious room with river views. Sadly didn’t have time to try the spa. Quite unique and never encountered staff quite as helpful and kind. Will definitely be back. Can’t fault it. Highly recommended. Totally loved it.

What a treat to have found this amazing oasis in Bangkok This is a beautiful hotel in an amazing art deco building. We had a beautiful tastefully decorated River View Suite which was spacious with luxurious fixtures and fittings Great food and wonderful service The free shuttle boat service works a treat. We never had to get a taxi anywhere And even when we almost got stranded after a visit to the royal palace, we only had to call in to get picked up! Have I mentioned the smart phone you are given? This enables you to make direct calls to the hotel free of charge and serves as a good navigation guide The butler service is pleasant. And being met after each boat ride with a fresh cold towel and a drink is just bliss The food in the restaurant is delicious and the breakfast service is wonderful all enjoyed in a cool calm setting One downside was we reported one of the shower heads in the bathroom faulty on a number of occasions but for some reason this was never addressed. I will forgive them this though as I can’t say it marred our overall experience

I don't usually write reviews but feel compelled to do so. I have travelled a lot and stayed in many wonderful hotels around the world. The Siam has set a new standard for me. The hotel is gorgeous and the staff extraordinary. The Hotel: Is a feast on the senses. The beautiful art deco layout and gardens are sublime. They have everything you need. Infinity pool; gym; screening room; private classes from meditation to Muay Thai boxing; massage spa; cooking classes and use of their private boat. AND a butler. The Butler: This service is what separates this hotel rom the rest. I was looked after and given space by my wonderful butler Sumet. He was happy to help organise a day trip, hotel bookings, always checked in to see if I was happy. Also, when I took my day trip they gave me a phone in case I needed any assistance. They even checked in to make sure I wasn't lost in the chaos of Bangkok. The Room: During my time here I felt like Royalty. I say room but really it's a villa with your own private little pool, courtyard and sun deck. The 'room' was perfect. Spacious and cosy but at the same time opulent. And the bedding was sooooo comfortable. The staff: So kind, helpful and warm. Pleasure to be around. I will definitely going back. Thank you The Siam & Sumet for such a special stay.

Great Hotel! A oasis in the middle of Bangkok. The suits are amazing. Huge bathroom, styled bed with two TV screens. The staff is very friendly and service oriented. The hotel has his own boat to bring you to the city. The food is really good and the can cook asian and western food
