We arrived after a 5-hour drive from Punta Cana under pouring rain. Even so, it was clear from the beginning that we were in a special place. After a personalized check-in process, we decided to have lunch before being shown to our room, since we would get wet getting there. Lunch was fabulous, from the cold Presidente to the seafood to the perfectly cooked meat. In fact, it's best to point out now that all the meals we had in the hotel's one restaurant were spot on. Our room was the Master River Suite, which is down a forest path on the "river" side of the property were the spa is (most of the rooms right now are ocean-facing). The river was rushing down on that weekend because of the rain, passing right in front of our balcony. The room was spacious and open, with high ceilings and an outdoor shower and jacuzzi. The only negative feedback that I can give the room is that it smelled very humid, especially the bedclothes. They might be able to address this with a dehumidifier or laundering the bedclothes right before guests come in. It wasn't enough for us to call and complain, but I imagine someone prone to allergies would have. On our first full day, we took the Bahía de las Águilas tour, which was spectacular. Our driver, Carlos, was knowledgable and courteous. The beach was gorgeous and the picnic that the hotel prepared for us was perfect- water, wine, beer, ceviche, sandwiches, and fruit. On the second day, we drove around town for awhile and then went back to the hotel for the canopy tour (very fun!) and the make-your-own-pizza experience on their brick oven, which was delicious. Later in the afternoon, we had the couples' massage riverside, which is well worth it. We were sad to leave the next morning, but we will be back! The impeccable service, beautiful countryside, and beautiful Bahía de las Águilas are worth a regular visit. Thank you to everyone on the staff for a wonderful anniversary experience!

I was on a road trip with my cousins through the South and we stopped here to see if they had any vacancy's after a recommendation from a friend. To our luck they were able to accommodate us. It is a little pricey but I will say you get what you pay for because the view is truly amazing. Our room was clean and the beds were comfortable. We spent hours at night talking by the pool and Jacuzzi. The staff was excellent. They checked on us every few minutes to make sure we were okay and brand our drinks straight to us. We definitely plan to go back and I would recommend it to everyone visiting the area.

Having heard/read great things about the place and the restaurant, we decided to stop for lunch on our way back from Bahia de las Aguilas. The female hostess was very courteous and proceeded to take us to the restaurant where they accommodated our party. Four of us ordered the dish called The Dominican Flag which consists of rice, beans, and meat but were told by the waiter to pick something else since that was too "complicated" for the kitchen and would take an hour to prepare. A bit baffled we decided to change our dishes. Upon asking if it contained onions (she's allergic to it) one member of out party ordered the avocado toast with the pico the gallo on the side. After ordering our food and drinks four of us went to the pool only to be called by a man who appeared to be the manager and told to get back to our tables because our food was ready. I was surprised because we had only been there for 15 minutes and the entrees had not arrived. We went back to our table, where there was no food whatsoever. After waiting for 20 minutes i asked the waiter where was the food that supposedly was ready but he had no clue. The hostess apologetically told us the pool was only for paying guests. Since we were paying for our food, im guessing she meant only for guests of the hotel. Which explained why were told the food was ready when it wasn't. It was simply to get us out of the pool (3 people out of 8). I just don't understand why the man had to lie. All he had to do was tell us about this rule and we would had simply returned to our table. After waiting for another 25 minutes, we got the avocado toast with the onions on top. We told the waiter we had specifically asked without it. He didn't seem to care. At this point (50 minutes or more) we just wanted to eat and leave. My Panini Prensado came without the salad. I had to ask for the menu and show the waiter it clearly stated it came with a side salad in order to get it. I also had to remind him of the bottle of water I had ordered upon arrival and had not received. Overall the food was simply eatable (the penne was overcooked and not al dente). We ate quickly looking forward to leave this unwelcoming place. We ordered the bill only to find out they were charging us for things we had not consumed. After telling the waiter what was wrong and what was missing, it took them another 15/20 minutes to figure it out. Beautiful location but horrible service. Definitely not stopping there again.

The casa bonita is certainly one of the most beautiful lodges to stay in the entire Dominican Republic. Hidden in the forest, but not remotely far away from "life", this small boutique hotel offers everything you need for a relaxing vacation: Great food & drinks, a large infinity pool, great service, a spa and rooms directly in the jungle - just great. We had the large suite with our own infinity pool, it was just great! The staff is very nice, the owner is taking very good care of his guests and the place. We will come back!!

Casa Bonita is a beautiful place to stay, very quiet if you're looking to rest and have a peaceful vacation, I had an awesome room with with a nice clean king size bed a beautiful balcony with a great view, having the best of both worlds, the mountains and the sea. the room service was excellent, but they need to improve the restaurant service, drinks, food, etc.
