Villa Le Maschere in Barberino di Mugello, Italy

Located in the Tuscan countryside, just a short ride from Florence, sits the fashionable Villa Le Maschere. Its stately exterior and luxury status comes from a mélange of centuries-old tradition and cutting-edge hospitality. The building dates back to the 18th century and its architectural features - the stunning frescoes and Venetian plaster - are proof positive. Inside, a new day has dawned with a collection of modern furnishings designed and produced on Italian soil. There are 65 minimalist-style guest rooms that rest beneath hand-painted ceilings, housed in either the Chini Pavilion or the main villa. Crisp color schemes are infused with bold splashes of red, sage, eggplant and ebony, and billowy fabrics frame canopied beds and windows. Bathrooms are cloaked in cool Italian marble and outfitted with large and inviting soaking tubs. Public spaces are equally striking with ultra modern embellishments.

Italy is known for its stunning gardens, and Villa Le Maschere is no exception. A sweeping staircase leads from the terrace down to sprawling park-like grounds, where a pair of swimming pools provide a refreshing escape on warm seasonal days. There is a delightful restaurant where elegant buffets are laid out for guests to enjoy a leisurely meal. The intimate bar is a place to retreat in the evening for an aperitif and conversation. Villa Le Maschere is near Lago di Bilancino as well as the small village of Barberino di Mugello. You can also spend the day in Florence scouring the many renowned museums, piazzas and public markets - or seek out a lush vineyard for an Italian-style picnic. For a revival of tradition with a contemporary twist, experience Villa Le Maschere.

We spent 3 nights here on our tour of Italy. What a beautiful place!! The location is in the beautiful countryside of Tuscany, away from the hustle of bustle of life. The staff was so friendly and accommodating, and very welcoming. The villa is beautiful, with lovely grounds, outside terrace and patio and welcoming pools. The inside spa and whirlpools and with jetted beds were amazing!! Our room was spacious and so incredible comfortable, from the bed,to the pillow to the bathroom. Loved it!! Dinner was lovely, sitting outside enjoying the view and the incredible food. Bar service was a bit slow, but there were quite a few of us to serve!

As we arrived we were full of wonder at the magnificent hotel we found ourselves staying at. Our room overlooked beautiful rose gardens, we experienced amazing meals served by an efficient, charming team of people. Christina and Giovanni particularly shone with their personal attention to our every need. They had the ability to make us feel very special and we were treated as friends, we were very impressed by their kind, generous and charming service yet professionally courteous at all times. We will sing the praises of this charming hotel to anyone looking for an exclusive spa experience in a beautiful location. Quite simply outstanding from beginning of check in to check out.

We stayed for a long weekend and I have to say this hotel is exactly how it's been described on their website. Staff were very friendly specially Sylvia in reception has been most helpful she gave us lots of useful advise that made our stay more enjoyable . Highly recommend this place for couples it's a bit too tranquil for kids but for couples it's romantic, peaceful and chilling. We didn't go to the spa but it did look good. Nice hotel but not in Florence need your car or taxi although there is a free shuttle everyday to Florence and that comes very handy.
