Claris Hotel

Great inner city location. Some city noise is to be expected. Very nice accommodations and atmosphere. We generally don't eat at the hotel restaurants. However, we are glad we did at the Claris. The dinner meal and staff were wonderful, and very reasonable.

We had a fantastic time staying at The Claris Hotel. Our room was spectacular. But the thing that made our stay so special was the amazing friendly staff. Everyone seemed so happy and energised to be working at the hotel. A particular shout out to Eric at Guest Services /Concierge who was so knowledgeable, friendly and helpful in sorting out restaurants for us. The whole reception team including doorman were exceptional. Well done.

SUMMARY: This Hotel has some very creepy vibes and the staff were barely professional with issues that arose during our stay. For reference, I've traveled to nearly 70 countries and haven't had an experience at a five-star hotel like this one. My mother and I booked the Claris Hotel for 2026 New Years Day celebration and were expecting a great experience at the hotel. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a terrible experience for both of us. First of all, the rooms are laid out with pagan statues and idols, with creepy vibes and when we asked if they could be removed, we were told that they could not be removed. We looked through the other rooms to find that every single room was the same, and that there was no option of removing the statues from the room. So, we asked the reception if we could be refunded for the two nights we booked - for which the front desk staff did not feel any empathy towards us or or want to help us out with our situation. After an enormous hassle, they ultimately agreed to refund us for one night, which we reluctantly accepted - and stayed at the Grand Hyatt Barcelona, a superb hotel in comparison. UPDATE: I called American Express today to ask about the one night refund to find that the manager hadn't even approved the refund, and I have since had to call the property twice so far to no avail. It's been a nightmare situation and has felt like pulling teeth from start to finish. I recommend you stay elsewhere, there are so many better options in Barcelona.

At check-in, I was told by one employee that I had a €200 hotel credit usable toward the spa or restaurants. I confirmed this with another employee, who stated the credit would be applied at checkout. I was also given a €25 spa discount voucher. Relying on this information, I spent €180 at the spa and over €150 at the hotel restaurant. At checkout, the €200 credit was not applied, and the €25 spa voucher was also not honored. The employee handling checkout said there was no such credit on my reservation and assured me he would follow up, but no follow-up ever occurred. Additionally, although the reservation was made in my name, the hotel changed the booking to my husband’s name upon check-in without my consent. This was inappropriate and unacceptable. While the stay itself was pleasant, these issues left a very bad impression. The representations made to us directly influenced our spending decisions, and I feel misled. This is not the level of service I would expect. I will not be returning or recommending this hotel.
