Hilton Diagonal Mar Barcelona

Stayed at this hotel with the family over the Easter week. Although the location was away from the centre, it is only 20mins by tram or metro.. the local beaches are just 10mins walk and the large Diagonal Mar shopping centre is just across the road. Our family room was on the 12th floor, which had wonderful large bathroom & shower with a window...that was a plus! However, a soft-close toilet seat would've been appreciated, especially during the nights! Also, a new set of shower door seals is needed to stop the floor getting flooded! The breakfast buffet was worth the money for a good start to the day and not needing to venture out to seatch for food, but got a bit tiring after 6 days. Couple of things that became really inconvenient was that the secure box was faulty and could not be programmed and that the A/C either was really weak or faulty. Even after being in the room for 1 hour and with all windows closed (an open window turns the A/C off !), the room remained hot and stuffy ( not helped by the heat given off by the fridge). Luckily, the outside temperature was only 18c/8c during day/night, so we opened both windows in order the breathe and cool the room down. I feel sorry for guests staying during the Summer months! Both these issues were reported to the hotel via their WhatsApp after checked into the room, but their only response was "OK" . So beware !

When arriving at the hotel, check in was a little uncomfortable felt the staff member was a bit rude! And was hit with a higher city tax than expected, for my Wife and myself, it was £117,32p.This was for seven days. When we got our room there was an electric socket hanging off the wall in the bathroom! Luckily I saw it before my son. I got reception to repair it. The room faced the main road. There was a lot of noise at night from the room next door! It turned out to be a service room for staff. We could hear the lifts

No swimming pool! I am sure when I booked it was scheduled to be in use for April otherwise wouldn't have booked, a couple of very disappointed young children!! Hotel would have been perfect but this has very much let us down.

The hotel is located in the Diagonal Mar area, which is not in the center of Barcelona, but a couple of minutes walk from the metro station, which connects you everywhere. On the other side of the road there is the famous large Diagonal Mar shopping center, also with many restaurants of all types and prices. The building is large, tall and modern, with 4 quick elevators. The area is relatively quiet, which I guess is even more emphasized on the higher floors. The room was big and quiet, with a quiet fridge and lots of storage space. If you have a room with a sea view – good for you! You may have the chance to take pictures of a beautiful sunrise. There was a mixture of plywood floor and a carpet. A rich breakfast was served on floor 1, though sometimes it was really busy with a bit of waiting for entering. It happened to me twice that I was assigned a free table, just to find it occupied after I came back with food. The receptionists were very helpful. I must mention Xavi and Valentina that seemed to do their best to help despite my many questions and requests. There were no bottles of water supplied to the room (a small thing that could make a big difference). There was something about the back of the bed which made occasional loud "clicks" after leaning on it. Also, during daytime there was a remote construction noise.

Business trip stayed for 3 nights whilst attending a congress at the congress centre around the corner. It took less than 5 minutes to get to each building so very convenient. Bedrooms were comfortable and a great size, and breakfast was plentiful with lots of choice. The only negative was time it took to check in, however staff were all very helpful. The bar on the 13th floor had amazing views and was lovely for drinks and tapas. Great staff. Would definitely stay here again especially as a single female.
