About the Hotel

Open your eyes to verdant tree-lined streets, a vibrant atmosphere embracing the arts, and the beautiful sunshine and weather of the Mediterranean, as you arrive at the Hotel Sofia. Located in the heart of Barcelona's bustling shopping and business center, and just minutes from the sea, you will experience this city in style. Plush rooms are bright and inviting, crafted with soft pastel tones and dark, rich wood furniture and accents. Sunlight streams through large picture windows, while city views and the Mediterranean in the distance will take your breath away. Luxurious bathrooms offer complete serenity, while all the modern amenities and services leave you feeling like royalty. Relax and enjoy all that Barcelona has to offer from the lap of luxury at the Hotel Princess Sofia.

Wake to a beautiful day on your first morning, and enjoy a fabulous breakfast at Contraste Restaurant or at iQ smart fresh food, with a menu carefully designed by a nutritionist. Venture out for the day to discover this amazing city, and start with a stroll down the famed La Rambla. Enjoy fantastic and eclectic shopping, vibrant street performances, and delightful cafés where you can sit, relax and people watch. Make your way to La Sagrada Familia, a magnificent temple designed by Anton Gaudi and begun in 1881, where you can marvel at its massive structure, which is still being constructed today. Continue on to Gaudi's psychedelic Park Guell, on a hill overlooking the city, and enjoy a pleasantly strange afternoon amongst serpentine benches, brilliant tile mosaics, giant decorative lizards, and gingerbread-styled houses. In the afternoon stop in at a lovely café for a true taste of Barcelona and enjoy fabulous fresh seafood and pintxos, the delightful tapas-styled local snacks. Take the rest of the afternoon to relax with a sail along the Mediterranean coast, or be moved by an astounding performance at the Gran Teatre del Liceu or L'Auditori. That night, return to the hotel for a well-deserved massage at AQUA Diagonal Spa, then enjoy a fun-filled dinner in the hotel's very own German Biergarten. At Hotel Sofia, every day is truly this magical.

Reviews for Hotel Sofia

Our favorite Grand Hyatt

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

We loved this hotel. It’s just out of the inner city in a beautiful neighborhood. Close to the subway, parks, and shopping. Also great restaurants around and in the hotel. The staff were excellent. Everyone was so nice. Our room was very modern and special. Loved the mattress as well. Firm but not too firm.

Awesome hotel

First time in Barcelona. This was an ideal space to stay. It’s just outside the city proper, but just enough to get a feel for the city. Barcelona soccer (football) stadium is a 10 min walk from there. Carlos at the front desk was amazing. Utilize the breakfast buffet, worth every penny. First class and all you can eat.The Peruvian rooftop bar was awesome and quite scenic full 360 view of the city. Staff were professional and very accommodating. Tours with trip advisor will pick up from here. Room was nice and modern, no complaints. Will use this hotel again.

Amazing location with easy access into the city center great restaurants, bars, and good choices on site, terrific service, beautiful rooms that are well kept and cleaned perfectly, open and spacious lobby with plenty of seating, and an amazing experience overall. I would highly recommend anyone to stay there.

well-equipped with good amenities

We spent two nights here while exploring the city. The location isn’t particularly central, but a short walk to the nearest tube station puts you just 15–20 minutes from the city centre, which is perfectly manageable. The room itself was clean, well put together, and the shower was good. The coffee shop downstairs is a highlight, and the rooftop bar is enjoyable, though be prepared for loud music! And the same applies to the ground floor restaurant, which serves decent food but has the volume firmly cranked up. I’d imagine it gets significantly noisier when a sports game is on! There’s also a dedicated restaurant within the hotel, which we didn’t get to try, and the spa and pool look like they’d be good to enjoy in the later summer months. Staff were friendly and reasonably prompt at sorting any issues, though the charge for a single teabag was frankly absurd. The lifts are a little chaotic, and it’s easy to find yourself stranded on the wrong floor. It’s possible that the hotel caters heavily to conferences and event, as we saw a few forums, and bridal parties taking place! A comfortable stay, just bring your own tea bags!
