About the Hotel

Open your eyes to verdant tree-lined streets, a vibrant atmosphere embracing the arts, and the beautiful sunshine and weather of the Mediterranean, as you arrive at the Hotel Sofia. Located in the heart of Barcelona's bustling shopping and business center, and just minutes from the sea, you will experience this city in style. Plush rooms are bright and inviting, crafted with soft pastel tones and dark, rich wood furniture and accents. Sunlight streams through large picture windows, while city views and the Mediterranean in the distance will take your breath away. Luxurious bathrooms offer complete serenity, while all the modern amenities and services leave you feeling like royalty. Relax and enjoy all that Barcelona has to offer from the lap of luxury at the Hotel Princess Sofia.

Wake to a beautiful day on your first morning, and enjoy a fabulous breakfast at Contraste Restaurant or at iQ smart fresh food, with a menu carefully designed by a nutritionist. Venture out for the day to discover this amazing city, and start with a stroll down the famed La Rambla. Enjoy fantastic and eclectic shopping, vibrant street performances, and delightful cafés where you can sit, relax and people watch. Make your way to La Sagrada Familia, a magnificent temple designed by Anton Gaudi and begun in 1881, where you can marvel at its massive structure, which is still being constructed today. Continue on to Gaudi's psychedelic Park Guell, on a hill overlooking the city, and enjoy a pleasantly strange afternoon amongst serpentine benches, brilliant tile mosaics, giant decorative lizards, and gingerbread-styled houses. In the afternoon stop in at a lovely café for a true taste of Barcelona and enjoy fabulous fresh seafood and pintxos, the delightful tapas-styled local snacks. Take the rest of the afternoon to relax with a sail along the Mediterranean coast, or be moved by an astounding performance at the Gran Teatre del Liceu or L'Auditori. That night, return to the hotel for a well-deserved massage at AQUA Diagonal Spa, then enjoy a fun-filled dinner in the hotel's very own German Biergarten. At Hotel Sofia, every day is truly this magical.

There are better pre cruise options

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

Our cruise agent had booked a one night pre cruise double bedroom for us here. The check in was charming but lengthy. The room had a third camp bed for some reason 🤷🏻‍♀️. The aircon was not working efficiently, a maintenance person was called but never arrived. The TV sound was faulty. Too soft or too loud depending on if the sound bar was attached or not. We wondered why it had been detached. The room was generally scuffed and shabby looking onto the air vents below. The bed was comfortable. We didn’t complain as time was limited, it was just a ‘convenient’ stopover but would look elsewhere next cruise. Note: all the staff we encountered were excellent. Our dinner in Leña was great. B’fast was ok but again the breakfast staff were delightful. The general maintenance of this property lets them down.

Noisy, not aoundproofed.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 days ago

Hotel had potential to be lovely, but there was someone above us who was walking across the floor past 3:00 am and moving furniture. Rooms were not soundproofed. Lots of hard surface. We heard every noise from the hallway as well.

nothing admirable

I can say the only thing good that makes this hotel still good is just the location to the Camp Nou stadium I stayed here 3 times before They don’t change anything , staff at the reception is so slow , breakfast is average and the pool outside is so limited for the capacity of the hotel They changed the rooms and imo it’s a downgrade

Exceptional Service and a Beautiful, Spotless Hotel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

The Grand Hyatt Barcelona was wonderful! The hotel was exceptionally clean, beautifully maintained, and very comfortable. What really stood out, though, was the excellent service. Every staff member we encountered was friendly, helpful, and genuinely attentive. From arrival through our stay, we felt very well taken care of. I would absolutely recommend the Grand Hyatt Barcelona and would happily stay here again.
