Located in the heart of Barcelona's bustling shopping and business center, and just minutes from the sea, you will experience this city in style. Plush rooms are bright and inviting, crafted with soft pastel tones and dark, rich wood furniture and accents. Sunlight streams through large picture windows, while city views and the Mediterranean in the distance will take your breath away. Luxurious bathrooms offer complete serenity, while all the modern amenities and services leave you feeling like royalty. Relax and enjoy all that Barcelona has to offer from the lap of luxury at the Hotel Princess Sofia.

Wake to a beautiful day on your first morning, and enjoy a fabulous breakfast at Contraste Restaurant or at iQ smart fresh food, with a menu carefully designed by a nutritionist. Venture out for the day to discover this amazing city, and start with a stroll down the famed La Rambla. Enjoy fantastic and eclectic shopping, vibrant street performances, and delightful cafés where you can sit, relax and people watch. Make your way to La Sagrada Familia, a magnificent temple designed by Anton Gaudi and begun in 1881, where you can marvel at its massive structure, which is still being constructed today. Continue on to Gaudi's psychedelic Park Guell, on a hill overlooking the city, and enjoy a pleasantly strange afternoon amongst serpentine benches, brilliant tile mosaics, giant decorative lizards, and gingerbread-styled houses. In the afternoon stop in at a lovely café for a true taste of Barcelona and enjoy fabulous fresh seafood and pintxos, the delightful tapas-styled local snacks. Take the rest of the afternoon to relax with a sail along the Mediterranean coast, or be moved by an astounding performance at the Gran Teatre del Liceu or L'Auditori. That night, return to the hotel for a well-deserved massage at AQUA Diagonal Spa, then enjoy a fun-filled dinner in the hotel's very own German Biergarten. At Hotel Sofia, every day is truly this magical.

Hyatt has lost me as a loyalist

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

Stayed on the third floor. It smells something horrible. The carpet in the elevator on the floors as nasty. The hotel is just really dirty and old. We checked in late and the AC wasn’t working well. You can tell that the hotel is not well managed anywhere. Attention to details matter. Definitely not even close to 5 stars. I have officially given up on Hyatt after this stay

Terrible Experience – Far From Luxury

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

This has easily been the worst check-in and hotel experience I’ve ever had. It took over an hour just to check in. The front desk had a sign posted blaming "system upgrades," but that is completely false. A computer upgrade doesn’t cause massive lines every single day for four straight days—it’s just a convenient excuse. The staff here clearly do not believe in customer service, offering zero acknowledgement or care for their guests. If you stand in the lobby for even five minutes, all you will hear are staff members making excuses instead of solutions. Maintenance is another major issue. I have asked multiple times for someone to look at my AC because the room simply will not cool down. Every time, they insist it's "working" while completely ignoring the actual temperature in the room, flat-out denying they have maintenance issues. To top it all off, the elevators are painfully slow, and the overall property is a far cry from the "luxury" they advertise. Save your time, your money, and your patience and stay somewhere else.

The Barcelona Grand Hyatt will exceed your expectations.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

I have stay at several Hyatt hotels in the USA and abroad. However, the Hyatt Grand in Barcelona exceeded my expectations. My best friend and I were shocked that as American Express customers that they upgraded our room, allowed us an early checkin (because the room was ready) and allowed us a late check out because my friend was taking a later flight back to the US then me! That has not happened EVER during my travels. The room was amazing with a great city view and with all of the amenities we expected. The location was perfect for us to walk to the shops or uber to the gay district. We took an Uber to the beach also. Breakfast was beyond amazing with many options including an Indian option! That I have never seen before even though I have traveled to areas with a large Brown person population. Ok I am a whisky loving man and the bar has amazing options and was well appointed. The bar area itself was beatuiful and inviting but I choose to sit outside on the covered patio area to drink my Double Double Johnny Walker Black! Lol It was so relaxing. Overall I was more than impressed.

Avoid this hotel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

Avoid this hotel. This is listed under Amex Travel as one of their hotel collections- it should be removed. Poor check in- slow service to even get your key monies to work in the gym. The breakfast buffet was mediocre. The location is crappy. I booked for the pool but was not impressed. This place was loud and screaming with kids. You can choose a better place

Was good room for improvement

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

Was there for a wedding. the room was big but not nearly enough wardrobe space and hardly any hangers. the room was big and clean and the cleaning lady was lovely but they left a dirty glass, knife and gym towel in the room for the whole stay. Pillows were awful and you need to ask for better ones that were ok. The pool area is ok but music is too loud and off putting and they do not let you bring food to the pool area which is stupid. Issac the concierge is amazing we asked him for 3 recommendations for restaurants and each one was 5 star. Breakfast was very good and they did not rush you to leave at 11. reception staff were not friendly and they tried to charge me for drinks that we "had". The lifts are a pain and during busy times good luck getting one. Gym was decent and clean. Overall was good i would not go back but we had a good time
