The overall experience has been wonderful. The room was stunning with everything I needed in the bathroom, room, dry cleaning service. My only disappointment was the noise early in the morning that is not good for a 5 stars hotel. Otherwise amazing experience. Thanks W!

The hotel is cleverly designed so that both side of the rooms will have an ocean view. The beauty starts from the outside which I have to say no more. Make sure you hit the Wow light button in the room, which is "Wow!". The staff is exceptional. I was asking the concierge to find me a table for dinner in New Year's eve at 6:30pm. Trust me, it is as difficult as going to the moon. They work with me for 40 min and finally get me one, even near the Spanish square which I can walk there in 10 min to do the count down. Well done!

Wow. Christmas 2017 was spectacular and in part due to the wonderful service at the W in Barcelona. My boyfriend and I traveled from Los Angeles to Barcelona. From the beginning the staff was helpful. I wrote prior to our trip asking for recommendations to local Vegetarian restaurants. Hugo gave us a handful with links and descriptions. Further, he responded to my question about a local swimming pool and provided a link and description. While staying at the W, the staff was courteous, friendly and accommodating. We ordered fresh coffee and soy milk every morning. The staff also helped us book last minute dinner reservations. My boyfriend treated us to massages on Christmas Eve day. The spa and the masseuses were beyond Pro and the facility clean and comfortable. I especially loved the selection of teas and comfy bathrobe. From our room, we could see boats in the harbor, sunrise and set. The W is in prime location right along the beach, off a running path. It’s a short walk to a variety of restaurants and cafes. We will definitely be back!

I am a global traveler and spend a considerable amount of time in upscale locations/hotels due to my profession. I am also a lifetime SPG Platinum member (only to demonstrate I am very much aware of the industry and the expectations that go along with it). I organize team events and conferences and on great experiences, come back to the same properties for family vacations. Imagine you have a choice of hotels. Out of 8 possible hotels to choose from for a conference, I picked the hotel that was the furthest away, the more expensive, and the least convenient. But I am a loyal SPG member and have been to almost every W Hotel on the planet. Now imagine getting there and they don’t recognize/acknowledge your status, indicate none of the typical amenities and perks are included, and do it with the most pretentious attitude imaginable. Why would you stay? It really bothered me. Not just once (I am very forgiving) but on night 2 and night 3. The straw that broke me was when I requested a late check out, per my status privileges. “No. Not possible. Yes. I know you are Platinum, but it’s not possible.” OK. What about until 1pm instead of Noon. Can you call your Manager and ask? Javier Garcia, Manager “After careful consideration, we can make this one time exception and extend 1 hour.” Wow. You are going to make an EXCEPTION just for me? Don’t do me any favors - with that kind of attitude - I changed my mind immediately and refused the ‘exceptional’ offer and decided to check out as soon as possible. I don’t remember the last time I felt so passionate about this level of poor service. It’s probably because I’ve had such exceptional stays in competing brands, I was just taken aback that this happened here. The General Manager, M. Stein Oyen, has some work to do on improving the professionalism and service attitude of his staff given the expectations of the discerning W clientele. As a result of this stay, I will not be holding my business events here and I will not be vacationing here. I do not recommend this hotel. There are fantastic experiences to be had all over Barcelona and would recommend readers to carefully consider priorities during your stay. I ignored mine, and the resulting decision was a bad one. 1 star for the Room (comfortable, nice, bright). 1 Star for the Breakfast (fresh, good variety) -1 for the Pretentius attitude -1 for the clearly undertrained front desk, night Manager, ’whatever’ staff, on managing requests in a professional and timely manner. -1 for the overall negative experience. I do not recommend and will not return.
