Spent 3 nights before a cruise....had a beautiful room with water views...loved the Nespresso machine in the room and proximity to the cute little town of Barcelonta on the water. I have to say we have stayed at many W's (mostly stateside) the guest service here was 5STAR! Everyone we encountered was warm, friendly and made us feel like home! Would love to go back just to stay at W Barcelona! Bravo...

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this W hotel. Lots of activity & people at all hours but never heard a sound in our room, even though we saw the lines for the nightclub upstairs when we came in each night. Arrived at 10a after an overnight flight from the US and they were able to check us in right away at no extra charge, which was hugely appreciated! Always plenty of lounge chairs, whether at the pool, the beach or the upper sun deck to the pool, and even cabanas & double sunbeds could be used without a fee or reservation. Public beach area was always busy which made for good people watching - can't imagine what it's like in peak July/Aug season! Rooms were spacious & contemporary, very much like every W I've been to in the US. My one criticism of the hotel is that it's not very centrally located to the sites of Barcelona. Every day was either a €15 cab ride or a 15+ min walk to the Metro to get to what we wanted to do. That said, the Old Town area IS walkable from here, as long as you are up for 1.5mi each way plus walking around. FWIW though, the Barceloneta beach area had many bars & restaurants (as does the hotel, although pricey) so you don't necessarily have to go into the City Center. And BTW, the Metro was very easy to navigate & felt very safe, even late at night. Loved our time in Barcelona & can't wait to return!

I stayed at the W Barcelona twice in 2015 and i loved it! such a cool, hip, modern, luxurious, classy, fun hotel to stay in. The staff age is mainly in the 20s and early 30s yet, they are very professional, and that's why i love to stay at the W anywhere in the world because the prople working there are within my same age group. The check in was very smooth and fast, i had a couple of questions to the concierge and by the time i went up to my suite they already had a feedback. I stayed in a suite overlooking the Mediterranean and the view was absolutely breathtaking.. the room are provided with different lighting scenarios which can shift you from one mood to another.. and the be was one of the comfiest ever. They have to pools, one of them on higher level, more quite and the other one is the one with all the parties and music and it's amazing to spend the day there. There was always a party going on at the hotel, whether a day or a night pool party, or at their top club "eclipse".. and since the moment i arrived and checked in, given my status at the starwood hotel group, i had VIP tickets at my door step every day to any party happening at the hotel that day, and the security would take us directly to the vip area.. and that was a sign for how professional they are and how they pamper their guests. also the food at the pool bar was so good and i had the best bloody mary ever, also they get these amazing olives with it that i have never had in my whole life. A very special place that i would always return to.

This is one of the best hotels where I've stayed. The service is excellent and the view was amazing.... I would go back for sure. The room was big , with big windows all over it. In this moment I can't find a minus for this place.

The W is in the best location in Barcelona and is stunning. I would never go back however, as they apply discriminatory policies and service is so-so. They arranged for a table in the night club but failed to tell us that the hotel applies a discriminatory policy of allowing women to wear shorts, but not men. Even well-dressed in highly fashionable shirt and smart shorts, one of us was refused entry (while women more dressed than street walkers in shorts) were allowed entry. We then asked them to open the clothes store next to the elevator so we could purchase a pair of pants, but even that was beyond the service of this supposed luxury hotel. Being in what is a civilised European country it surprised me that they impose a gender on people and then impose their view on how that gender should dress. It is appalling that a well-known hotel fails in even basic LGTQ policies.
