I stayed at the W four years ago and it was amazing, I have very good memories of it. I came again June 2017 and it has completely changed in my eyes. The decor is outdated, the red halls are not cool anymore, the cushions and pillows by the pool are dirty they must have been there for years. The lounges by the beach are uncomfortable (no cushion). The room was very nice & clean but no balcony. The first day we got here at 11 am our room wasn't ready till 3 pm even though we requested early check in. We ordered a salmon salad and fish tacos. I had a stomach ache the entire day from it the salmon was meant to be raw in the salad but I'm not sure how good quality it was. I never ate in the hotel again after that. The beach was nice but while sitting all day there and overhearing others conversations 80% of the people sitting on the beach weren't staying at the hotel. In general, the hotel was extremely overcrowded and the staff gave us no attention. We waited 30 minutes at the pool for a beer. When we asked the concierge if there's anything to do besides clubbing at night she responded in a very rude way "no, nothing to do besides clubs". We felt stupid for asking... really nothing special about this hotel and it's service. Also, to use the sauna or steam room they charge 20 euro Person. I would recommend this hotel to anyone single looking to meet people and not so interested in the service and style of the hotel.

When reservations were made I secured a sea-view room. A few days prior to my departure I received an e mail asking if I wanted to pay $35 euros for an upgrade to a city view/sea-view room? I accepted and was looking forward to by first time in Barcelona. When we checking in(pls note as always I request a high floor) I was fearful when I heard the room was on the 4th floor. Before even seeing room I asked for a higher floor and was told there was nothing available. I am premier member of Starwood and was very disappointed in my service.I was told perhaps in a day or so I could change; I was there for 3 nights and was not going to do that. We went up to the room and my heart dropped; we were 402 right past the elevator. The entire part of city view was blocked by part of the hotel. I went right back down to the Starwood desk and the original person who helped was no longer there. Madelena (who is an intern) stepped in and made our entire stay. Thanks to Madelena later in the day we were shown to room 1110. The view from the room was breath-taking. The bed is floating in the middle of the room and there are floor to ceiling windows. We never closed the shades as no one could see us and completely enjoyed the view both morning and night. Not sure how an intern could help and the original person couldn't or perhaps didn't care to! My room recommendation is 8th floor & above even room #'s no lower than 08.

My friend and I decided to stop by The W one night for a drink. The outside pool has a great atmosphere, however it is luck if you find a seat after 9pm. Would recommend arriving out of peak time to secure your spot.

A fantastic hotel staff go above and beyond the call of duty view to die for this hotel is on the beach a bit out of town so taxi or a 20 min walk to find a bit of life food in hotel very good but a bit pricey has underground parking

This is my third time at this hotel. This opportunity my stay was even more special because of our housekeeper NORYSMER from Dominican Republic. She took special care of us. We stayed at room 919 it was spectacular. If you can book this room
