Unique Luxury - Special Hotel worth every penny

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

We have been going to Twin Farms at least once a year for 20 years and its still just as special as the first time. It is so relaxing and cozy. The food is incredible and they have added a number of facilities which has enhanced the experience even more. Some public rooms and cottages are probably due for some upgrades but overall still one of the best hotels in the world

The Magic of Twin Farms...

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 months ago

Words can not possibly explain the wonder and brilliance of Twin Farms. It is that kind of mystical setting that in order to truly understand it, one must visit. My wife and I visited Twin Farms for the first time in early January, immediately after the holidays. We could not have been more blown away by our experience. We are discerning travelers, having had the amazing opportunity to visit many incredible places and hotels, both domestically and internationally. There truly is a mystique that you "feel" as you move through the entry gate. The setting and grounds are beautiful. The arrival experience was outstanding. The food that we tasted, whether in the main dining room, at Twiggs, or through in room was dining was perfect every time. The craft cocktail and wine offerings were thoughtfully and beautifully prepared. Our intent for this brief two day visit was to relax and disconnect. Twin Farms provided the perfect setting to do that. We spent hours, sitting in our bed, looking out the floor to ceiling glass of our tree house, just absorbed in the spectacular surroundings. And I should add that our tree house was outstanding... such a beautiful, well thought out space, with every amenity we could want. We had the opportunity to use the spa for a couples massage, and the treatment was amazing. We lounged in the Furo for an hour, and that was also outstanding. We had an opportunity to have a picnic at the top of the mountain in the lift operator dwelling, and that was incredible. We both said that we could have easily spent a week there, if time had allowed for it.. But the real reason that Twin Farms is what it is, is due to the most lovely and caring staff. They have the mastered the art of service to a level that is difficult to describe. As one other reviewer noted, the word "no" does not exist. It is only about, what can we do to make your experience memorable, no matter how great or small the ask... Upon leaving the property, we had already booked our next stay within 30 minutes. Twin Farms will be a place that we will return to, again and again..

Twin Farms smells of private equity

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 months ago

As others have noted, the priorities at Twin Farms have shifted from being a unique guest experience to one of expansion and dilution of services to maximize profit.. As a multiple time repeat guest I have been witness to these unfortunate changes, which I first noticed in 2020 when management decreed that house keeping would not be doing laundry “because of covid” even though they didn’t bristle at changing the bed sheets. Then came the expansion plans to knock down trees to add more guest cottages and an additional dining room to feed them at the expense of eliminating the charming game room, “Twigs", which was an ode to the founder of Twin Farms, Thurston Twig-Smith. Twin farms also now requires reservations for dinner and encourages tipping (even though advertised as all inclusive). The end result is the transformation of a once charming, personal experience, which had soul to one of a hum drum over priced corporate hotel hatched by private equity. So sad…

A lovely place for a Vermont getaway

We had a delightful stay at Twin Farms this September. As a group of four (two couples). We stayed in Washington's room and Dorothy's room. The location of the property is pretty remote (which is part of the beauty of the place), so you will almost certainly have all meals on the property, and that's to your benefit. We used the bikes and enjoyed a wonderful ride through the countryside. My sister-in-law took part in the painting activity, and there were plenty of other activities available: scavenger hunts, puzzles, hikes... I'm usually wary of dining options at inclusive places but both restaurants and all meals were absolutely terrific. The concierge had us complete our food preferences in advance and they tailored each meal to our personal requests. I personally preferred the rooms and suites in the main lodge to the newer treehouses because it felt like an authentic experience from the original farm. The treehouses are newer and beautiful and adjacent but not connected to the property The contemporary art was interesting and fun to browse along with the old books. Just before departure at breakfast, the waiter asked us if we would like lunch for the road, and we took four yummy sandwich bags, which came in handy on our drive to NYC. I absolutely recommend Twin Farms for a remote Vermont Getaway!

Great place to celebrate!

Wow! What an amazing experience. Our suite was lovely. The service was exceptional. And the food was delicious. We had the tasting menu and a special wine dinner in the Main Dining Room as well as dinner at Twiggs. The spa was great. There is lots to do on site as well as in nearby Woodstock. So glad we went.
