Reviews for Montigo Resorts Nongsa

Amazing stay

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 18 hours ago

Seems a bit late to share my review, I stayed here on July 13–15 this year. It was a great experience, I was warmly welcomed by a friendly and cheerful front desk staff, Ardi, who gave clear information about the facilities and house rules. The villa was comfortable, and the view was amazing, especially during sunset. All the other staff were also humble and helpful. I truly hope to have another stay at this resort in the future.

Unacceptable Conditions: From "Go-To" Getaway to Health Hazard

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

We are shell-shocked and profoundly disappointed by our recent stay. This resort used to be our go-to spot for short getaways, but our experience this time was an absolute disaster that raises serious concerns about cleanliness and management standards. Deceptive Advertising and Maintenance Failure (Room 1): Our initial room looked nothing like the photos advertised. We found the beds poorly maintained with falling under-linings, and the cutlery provided was noticeably unclean. The staff even mentioned this was their most renovated room, but actual fact the room was run down. He even mentioned moving forward the rooms will all have a revamp to this new brown-ish look. I mentioned that the marketing team should keep the listings up to date and as checked today, the images are still the 4 poster beds unlike what they said or the room we entered. Horrifying Health Violation (Room 2): After complaining, we were moved to a different room that matched the advertised images. However, upon inspection, we discovered a USED CONDOM left in the bathroom hamper. (SEE THE PHOTOS) S-H-E-L-L-E-D S-H-O-C-K-E-D The general facility maintenance was equally poor; the pool water was visibly dirty. This is a severe, non-negotiable health and safety violation that is completely inexcusable. Unusable Amenities and Failed Service (Room 3): Following the horrifying discovery in our room, we requested to change rooms again and were even willing to pay a significant upgrade fee. Management refused our offer to pay for a better room and instead moved us to a third room that was clearly run-down and felt substandard. This was their hill side, 2 Bedroom suite, which we have been in before. This final room was also a jarring disappointment, reflecting a property long past its glory days. Features like the once-huge, two-person tub were reduced to a tiny tub with shaky standing faucet, no more mirror in the room for you to do your make-up, the kitchenette and items also removed. The general state of maintenance was sad, with visible neglect to the lighting, walls, and paint work. The Service ground team was great and friendly though.

Doesn’t live up to the hype

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

Reading other reviews, it’s hard to believe we stayed at the same place. Our trip started out fine. We arrived earlier than the 3pm check-in time, so I wasn’t surprised to have to wait for our room to be ready. I’d booked a one-bedroom villa and was upgraded to a two-bedroom. Ok, great, but we really didn’t need it since there were only two of us. While we waited, we had lunch and then did batik painting. The ladies in the shop who oversaw the batik were great. I found the villa to be a bit underwhelming. The space is huge, but sparse. The living room furniture looks and feels like outdoor furniture and is not very comfortable. It’s also so far from the television that it wouldn’t even make sense to try to watch something while sitting on the sofa. The minibar was just a few cans of tea and fruit juice. No glasses or any dishes, just a few mugs. It would be great if the private pool had a couple of lounge chairs. Apparently some villas have them and others don’t?! It makes no sense. Who wants to get out of the pool and sit at a dining table? The roof terrace also has no furniture. There were cushions that we could have dragged outside if we’d cared to, but it hardly makes the terrace a usable feature. On our last night there, we started to hear an awful and loud rumbling noise in our villa. After some trial and error, we figured out it had something to do with one of the aircon units. The villas could definitely use some maintenance! It was interesting to read a recent review that mentioned maintenance issues in the same villa we stayed in, 65. All communication with the resort is done over WhatsApp, which can be a pain. The number to message for room service should be included on the room service menu. There were little things like this where information that could have been provided just wasn’t. The food is pricey and the service in the restaurants was slow. I had to hunt someone down so I could sign the bill after each meal. Servers never came to check on us and see if we needed anything. We had to flag them down anytime we wanted to order. Despite all of this, my daughter and I enjoyed our time together. Until something she ate made her sick on the final night. And then I got sick once we were back home. Be wary of the food and water… The icing on the cake was check-out….I was told the bus to the ferry terminal was an hour before the ferry time. We were on the 3:40pm ferry, so I requested a late check-out. I was told we could have one….for 500,000 IDR. I’ve never been charged for a late check-out before! Either you don’t need to turn the room over right away or you do! But fine, I agreed to it. I called for a buggy to go to reception around 2:15. It took about 20 minutes and after waiting another 5 minutes to talk to someone to finalize the bill, he asked if I could wait for a bit while they checked the room. Excuse me? Check the room for what?! There’s no paid minibar! And I was never informed that I would need to check out early enough for the room the be checked. So I said no, my ferry was at 3:40. He pulled up my invoice and I paid the bill. He said I was set. No mention of the bus and whether it was ready or that it would be leaving. When I started to wonder why there hadn’t been any sort of announcement or anything about the bus leaving, I went outside to find out what was going on. Either there hadn’t been one, or we’d missed it, despite the fact that we were sitting in the lobby and it was known that we were on the 3:40 ferry. Eventually we were driven to the terminal, but the utter lack of communication was ridiculous. It got even better once I was back in Singapore. As I was making my way from the ferry to immigration, I received a message from the resort asking if I had checked out. I replied yes and then was asked if I had gone to the lobby to settle the bill. ?!?! Do you not have the record of my credit card payment?! How is that possible? How do you not know a guest has checked out and settled their bill?! Did they really think I had just left? The lapses in communication are astonishing. I guess you have to pay more for the butler service, which I wasn’t even aware of as an option, or be an IG influencer to get decent service here.

Great resort with personalised service, we love every single bit of our time here. Thank you Montigo Resort Nongsa team for making us feels at home🥰 Special mention to Clara who assisted us on arrival and throughout our stay, along with Arjuna, Isra and Cinthya. They gave a surprised visit with a birthday cake and song! Just love it! Not forgetting Ely at Tadd who attended us during our lunch. Kiddos to all, we will definitely come back!
