Very Disappointing Stay – Poor Service, Security Concerns & Missing Gold Earrings

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

Very Disappointing Stay – Poor Maintenance, Housekeeping & Security Concerns We booked a 2-bedroom Sea View Villa for 3 guests (4–6 September) and were offered an “upgrade” to a 3-bedroom villa. ( R61) Unfortunately, the upgrade turned into a very disappointing experience. The villa had numerous problems: weak/inconsistent water supply, inadequate air-conditioning, faulty electrical sockets, malfunctioning TV remote, no water from a toilet bidet, and a bedroom door that jammed. Most seriously, the main sliding entrance door could not be locked properly, which made us feel unsafe and caused us difficulty sleeping. The private pool water also appeared greenish and produced considerable bubbles/foam when disturbed, which made us uncomfortable using it. Housekeeping was equally disappointing. After returning around 10 pm from a full day out, we found towels and drinks had not been properly replenished, coffee/tea was not replaced, and a used cup had not been cleaned. Some supplies only arrived close to 11 pm and were still incomplete. The most concerning incident was discovering that a pair of gold earrings was missing from one of the bedrooms after we returned. We reported the matter and requested management to investigate, including checking staff access records and CCTV where available. Overall, what was supposed to be an enjoyable resort holiday became stressful because of poor maintenance, inadequate housekeeping, security concerns and the missing personal property. For the price and reputation of the resort, we expected a much higher standard. We have requested management to investigate the missing earrings and provide an appropriate resolution, including a refund for this very disappointing stay. So take care of yr belongings

Perfect Family Getaway with Exceptional Hospitality

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

Our stay at Montigo Resorts Nongsa began with such a wonderful welcome. From the ferry terminal, the team were there to greet and escort us through immigration and onwards to our private car. The resort is only a short drive from the ferry terminal, making the journey wonderfully seamless, and the refreshing welcome drink was a lovely first touch. We stayed in a beautiful Two-Bedroom Ocean View Villa, which was perfect for our family of four. Spacious, comfortable and thoughtfully equipped, with a coffee and tea area, kettle and our own private swimming pool, it gave us plenty of space to enjoy both family time and quiet moments. Dining was another highlight, with plenty of variety without needing to leave the resort. We enjoyed authentic Indonesian flavours at Warung, we recommend to try the yellow rice and sapi sambal hijau, Japanese cuisine at HINOTORI with its beautiful ocean views, and breakfast and sunset moments at Tiigo. We also enjoyed the fresh seafood at Pantai Restaurant, with the salted egg crab being a particular favourite. And when the children were simply too tired to go out, in-room dining made things wonderfully easy. For those little family moments in between, the resort’s shops are also incredibly handy. Whether we needed snacks, ice cream or a few treats for a late-night movie in the villa, everything was conveniently within reach, a small detail, but one parents really appreciate. For families, there is plenty to keep everyone busy. The Kids Club, cookie baking, family tie-dye, pizza making with private chef and air shooting gave the children plenty of opportunities to have fun, while our mangrove tour was a particularly memorable experience, a lovely way to explore the natural side of Batam together. We also made sure to leave some time for ourselves. An Indonesian massage overlooking the sea was exactly what we needed as parents, while the ATV experience added a little adventure to the stay. It was the small touches from the team that stayed with us most. Our housekeeping team kindly surprised the boys with beautiful towel art, which they were absolutely delighted by. It was such a simple gesture, but those are often the moments children remember most. And a very special mention must go to our butler, Mrs Lestari, who went far beyond what we could have expected. When I needed help finding an emergency doctor just before check-out, she continued assisting me even though she was already on leave. That level of personal care and genuine kindness is something you don't forget. Montigo Resorts Nongsa gave us more than a beautiful villa and wonderful facilities. It gave us genuine hospitality, meaningful family experiences and those thoughtful little moments that make a family holiday truly memorable.
