Reviews for The Charter at Beaver Creek

Solo Ski Trip

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

Went for a ski trip. Venue had convenient shuttle for the short trip to the mountain or village. Beaver Creek village also has a shuttle that you can summon by app. My condo was clean and spacious. Daily room service for trash collection and clean towels. Ski rental onsite. Most of the staff was very friendly and helpful. I would stay here again.

Front desk lacking.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 months ago

The front desk waited until two bus loads of groups had all been placed into their units, instead of getting my unit ready by housekeeping even though I had arrived an hour earlier. I waited for two hours in their lobby. The best practice would have been to have housekeeping finish preparing my unit before the desk was slammed by the busses, that they knew were coming. I cannot recommend The Charter. There seems to be a lack of common sense at their front desk.

Nice condo complex within walking distance to the slopes

My wife, son, and I stayed at the Charter for 5 nights in December 2023. We stayed in a 1-bedroom condo in building C. The condo appeared to be newly renovated and was in great shape. The pictures we saw of the unit online turned out to be accurate. The unit was clean and had everything we could have needed for our stay. While some units may not be as up-to-date, we really enjoyed our stay. For a family of three, having all the space and amenities that the Charter offered was much better (for us) than a standard hotel room. The walk to the resort (Centennial Express lift area) is about 10 minutes. Very easy without equipment. A little tougher with ski equipment. We were very glad that the resort offered ski concierge services so we didn't have to carry our equipment each day. We didn't use everything the Charter had to offer, but everything we saw looked very nice. The spa and pool are great. We used the hot tubs and pools most evenings. They were clear and well-stocked. Perfect for after skiing. We did not use the restaurant. I do wish there was a small store on site (or closer) to purchase drinks, snacks, etc. I would recommend stopping on the way in and picking everything you need up beforehand. We did have a great kitchen with plenty of room. Our unit had a fireplace and fire wood was brought to the room (at a price) whenever we asked. Overall, I would absolutely stay at the Charter again when going to Beaver Creek.

December 2023 family stay

The Charter was in a great location close to everything. Beaver Creek Village is a quick 5 minute walk that puts you in the heart of everything. I have read some reviews that stated the rooms were outdated. We did not experience that at all. The rooms we booked were G130 and G135 and they were lovely, modern, fully renovated recently, and very well equipped. When booking your room on the Charter website they provide full photos of each unit so you can literally see what your exact unit looks like in the photos. I have no idea how people in this forum can write that they were “surprised” when they checked in. My advice, look at the unit photos, book based on those, and you most likely won’t be disappointed. The Charter is also very close to the Elkhorn, Centennial, and Strawberry Park Express lifts. The Elkhorn lift is right behind building F and G and is less than 3 minutes to walk down to that lift. It was closed as we were there early in the Season and the mountain was 30% open. But, in the middle of the season when open, it’s very convenient. The Centennial lift is a 3-5 minute shuttle ride and the free shuttle can be ordered “on demand” and we didn’t have to wait longer than 3-5 minutes to get a shuttle anywhere during our entire stay. The lobby area and bar/restaurant looked nice but we never ate there. I would definitely recommend the Charter for you and your family. It was our first stay in Beaver Creek and we would not hesitate to book there again in the future.

Bait-and-switch pricing practices

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 7 months ago

It's clear that The Charter and East West Hospitality don't mind lying to their customers, which I am sure is reflected in many of their business practices. If you have the choice to stay here or other locations in the area, don't stay here. The site we booked through (VRBO) indicated that parking is available, but it does not mention that parking costs $40 a day per car. We had two cars between the three of us. So the actual price ended up being 15% higher than was advertised. Had I known this at the time of booking, I would have booked somewhere else, since there were plenty of other reasonably priced options in the area. I called the Charter management to ask about this, they simply said "it's in the email we sent you after you already booked". They were right - it was in the email buried at the bottom in the "complimentary amenities" section that I received after entering my credit card and completing my reservation. The customer service agent I talked to wasn't concerned. She told me I could have read that email and cancelled the reservation, which is the definition of bait-and-switch. The Charter, and their management company East West Hospitality, are dishonest hosts. Avoid them if you can.
