Stayed at the Rosewood in Beijing for four nights for work. Here are the highlights: 1) Beautiful, modern rooms with large desk, couch, coffee table set with fresh flowers. Rooms that rival this room in Asia are Upper House in Hong Kong, the newer Shangrila in Shanghai. Hard to pick the best of the three, they are all top notch. 2) Great maid service. They’ll tidy up your closet by folding clothes, arrange your toiletries on a towel, and turn down service with bottled water and a crystal glass by your bed. Some of this is more standard at Asian five star hotels, but the Rosewood’s service is a touch above. 3) Country Kitchen, the on-site duck restaurant is very good. Nice atmosphere. Also had short ribs and the lamb wrapped and broiled on branches. Great presentation and very good. 4) Went to the famous duck restaurant, Da Dong, the branch at Jin Bao Place. Traditional duck with some modern dishes that are arranged like art, much like you would find at a place like Per Se. Pictures on the walls of people like Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, eating here. For a fun dessert, try the chocolate mousse bonbons that they freeze in liquid nitrogen at your table. When you pop them in your mouth, you can blow smoke rings! Compared to Duck de Chine, one of the other famous duck restaurants, it is very different. Duck De Chine is in an artsy warehouse district with kind of an old Beijng flare. At Duck de Chine, I love how they put the duck sauce into small plates and swirl it around to make a patten. Food is excellent and the place feels more spacious and relaxed in more of a garden setting. 5) Last day, I got back late to the hotel, after the gift shop had closed. I called the front desk to see if there was anywhere that I could buy stuffed animals for my two daughters. They said, no problem, we’ll find you a few stuffed animals. Within 5 minutes, they sent up two very cute, high quality stuffed animals that I know my girls love. Now that’s service! Thank you for a wonderful time!

We had high expectations for The rosewood Hotel as the rooms are one of the most expensive ones in Beijing. I must say the hotel did not disappoint us. My friends and I had an impeccable stay at the rosewood Hotel Beijing for 5 nights in April, 2018. The hotel is centrally located away from the china mall. The front desk team greeted us joyfully at the entrance upon check in. All hotel facilities including the gym, swimming pool in the spa, restaurants and bar are elegantly, stylishly and detail oriented decorated. Staffs are friendly and our suite was spacious, comfortable and luxuriously prepared for us. Turn down service and housekeeping were very attentive - glasses cleaning wipes/cloth and recharger cable were provided and always tidy rolled up and fixed with a branded cable fixer (don't know the appropriate word for that) but a here again all in the small details. Me and my friends all enjoyed our stay. Thank you all Rosewood staffs for taking good care of us.

I recently departed from a 3 night stay at the Rosewood in Beijing and had a very pleasant stay. I had booked a Grand Studio on, but due to high occupancy levels I was upgraded to one of the Manor Suites. The room was clean and very well presented with all the amenities you'd expect from a 5* Hotel of the Rosewood chain. The swimming pool is fantastic, a good size and very very quiet, even during the expected "peak" times. Little details, like coming back to the room to find all my chargers had been neatly tided away and wrapped up with branded cable wraps. And also the fact they had cleaned my reading glasses and left a little cleaner cloth for them too. Very well presented and the Gong Bar Chicken is a must try in the Asian restaurant. Stylish bar with some nice cocktails too. I am back in Beijing in a few weeks and will probably stay here before returning to London. It is very good value for money. Even if the room was a little noisy at times due to being on the side of the hotel with the ring road - however I dont really think this was a problem, though I was on the 20th Floor! Thank you,

This hotel truly has amazing rooms, with a wonderful modern design incorporating traditional Chinese elements and their size is massive. If that’s all you’re looking for in a hotel, then I highly recommend the Rosewood. However, in all other aspects I was not impressed with this hotel. Firstly, its location is a bit strange. It is close to the famous CCTV tower, which we figured would be a local hotspot with places to dine and shop. Unfortunately, this is not the case. There really does not seem to be much around the hotel besides an isolated mall. To get to all the sights you need to take a taxi about half an hour and even longer if there is traffic (we went during Qingming Festival so there was a ton). Secondly, the food is not the best and has a high price point. One time, we ordered two courses each and were surprised when both courses were brought out at the same time. It was a bit annoying since our main courses got cold while we were eating our appetizers. Lastly, the service was a bit subpar. It seemed like the concierge was unorganized or simply not trying that hard. We organized a tour our first day in Beijing and scheduled it for 9:00am. Since we arrived quite late at night we asked for the tour to be moved to the next day and received confirmation it had been rescheduled. The next day we received a call at 8:10am asking us where we were since the tour, in fact, started at 8:00. We were very confused since we thought the tour’s starting time would remain the same and had not been notified it was changed. We ended up getting down to the lobby at 8:45 and felt guilty for having our tour guide wait for almost an hour. Also, I felt the recommendations from the concierge weren’t too great. They made reservations for us twice. The first time, we requested to eat the best Peking Duck in Beijing. We were disappointed when we realized the place they arranged us to eat was actually a chain that also existed in Shanghai, where we live. The second time they recommended a Mongolian hot pot place close to the hotel. It was in the isolated mall I mentioned before. All the lights were off in the mall and few people were inside. It seemed a big portion was being reconstructed. The restaurant was completely empty besides us and it was right next to the reconstruction so it stank of paint. We debated leaving but decided to stay because we were very hungry and didn’t have time to find another place before our flight out. Although the food was not terrible, the smell of paint gave us both headaches and we had stomach aches afterwards. We had hoped the concierge would have better judgement.
