Beautiful hotel let down by inconsistent service and ropey food. Having stayed at other 5* resorts in Mauritius this one is nowhere near the same quality when it comes to service and food. The Annabella buffets are really sub-standard while some staff are amazing and so helpful while others were unhelpful, unhappy and bordering on rude Additionally, If you are into water sports this probably isn't the resort to go to as the depth of the lagoon limits the activity to 2-3 hours per day with really bored staff who really couldn't care less. The 2nd water ski boat was broken for 5 of the 8 days we were there meaning 90 minute waits out on the pontoon with no urgency to get things fixed. Given the multiplying catalogue of small issues, I mentioned them all to the hotel manager who seemed surprised and tried to help but didn't seem to have a good acceptance on what the real issues were and limited leadership to actually fix them. Still had a great holiday...just not because of the hotel unfortunately. There are much better places available.

Ill keep it short and simple. I choose the hotels I stay based on the SLH website, as I am a member and never had a bad experience with the hotels they have. First impressions are the ones that count. Unfortunately the shuttle service i requested from the hotel (which costs 150 euros for each trip) was 45m late! I previously advised the hotel my flight number and landing time. Clearly something went wrong with the information given. I had to get in touch with the hotel directly to find out what happened with the shuttle service. Once arriving to the hotel, no apology was given by anybody. The hotel is beautiful in a french colony style, very clean too! I went with the half-board plan, as we do not drink much, so the difference doesn't really compensate much, and we prefer to have a light lunch during holidays I also had in mind, by what i had read online that it would be a nice couple hotel with pool for adults. Which clearly i was very wrong. There is no such thing at the Le Telfair, and it is a full on family hotel. If you have a family, you will enjoy it, if you looking for a quiet place to relax and gain some energy, look elsewhere! TIP: When you arrive, if you want to have dinner at their restaurant called Le Chateau, make sure you do it upon arrival, or maybe even 1 week before you travel. I dont like holidays with every minute of the time planned, and lets face it, its holidays! Im not sure what i will feel like to eat on a certain day. All though they have many restaurants around, when i tried to book dinner, or they were closed as its the off day (alternated days per restaurants), or either they are fully booked.. This was a bit annoying i confess.. I was able to book for the Gin'ja easily and the C Beach club with 2 days in advance. The Annabellas restaurant is good, and changes menu every day, not for breakfast though. After 3 days, i didnt know what else to eat in the morning. The facilities of the hotel are very good, however not much information in the rooms about the different restaurants, so you i would suggest you actually google around to find info about types of food etc. I did find the information given in the rooms about the facilities very poor. They have a very big and wide selection of things to do during the day, which is great to keep the kids entertained. You are given a schedule of a variety of activities if you want to join. The beach area is small, and if you enjoy hearing the waves of the sea...well.. you wont hear them at all, as the waves break very far from the beach. The rooms are very clean with a nice balcony. The beds are very hard and you will feel every single spring. Most hotels normally have a foam or duvet over the mattress so the bed feels more comfortable. The pillows are to the hard side which i struggled to sleep properly. On the room we stayed (1104) the roof fan was noisy doing its rounds, which gets to you when you want to try and fall asleep. The beach towels are counted.. Would of been better if they had a a place that you could pick some towels by the pool area. Ice seemed like a luxury. Every time i requested a bucket with ice for the waters, it seemed like this was a very strange request... I enjoyed the stay, but I wouldn't return. The prices are reasonable, its close to South Africa, so a 4h flight is easy! Also a 40m drive away from the Airport. Calm sea... great facilities, beautiful colonial look, nice food. Good family place, not a choice for couples looking for peace and quiet. Last and not least... I don't like cats walking around the restaurant area at night (Annabellas). Im not a feline lover due to allergies.. I understand its an opened restaurant, but these cats are stray animals! And mixing them with a food environment is just something i do not approve. Thumbs up for the awesome service given at the pool area by Gerome. He was defiantly the best server in the hotel facility we had.

We had the senior suite sea view with Alan as our butler. We've previously stayed at another hotel with a private pool but have decided the butler is better than the pool! He organised our short stay so that we maximised our time. The food here is yummy and varied, the staff are friendly and helpful, in particular the activity centre (thank you Ravin). We don't like to stay up too late and where we were we could hardly hear the music etc. The room was less polished style wise than others I've stayed in but was spotlessly clean and so comfortable with lots of little treats delivered throughout our stay. The buggy safari (frederic) is off site (within minutes) and I highly recommend this. We also hired a private speedboat for a half day - amazing and the best way to do it. We did a taxi tour of the south coast on our last day and that was fab.

Welcome to paradise. Our family of three just returned from Le Telfair after an 11 nights Easter Holiday, and wished we could have stayed for longer. Not only does Mauritius have a lot to offer, but having experienced it through Le Telfair was quite simply amazing. Since this is an old sugarcane estate, we were surrounded by beauty where ever we looked. We were also happily surprised that you can actually just walk out in the beautiful clear water directly from the beach and take a dip. This is not possibly in places where the coral is very close to the shore. The hotel is absolutely stunning and beautifully kept in white Colonial style, and the staff is very professional and very friendly in a most natural way, making us feel very welcome from start to end. We were upgraded to Junior suite 505 which no doubt made our stay even more amazing (not least also thanks to the butler Alan). The view from the balcony was breathtaking. A pre-dinner "Cavendish Diamond" (drink) at the Cavendish Bar was an event in itself every evening. The great choice of restaurants makes it a pleasure to be on the all inclusive deal and particularly the Pan-Asian "Gin'ja" was very nice (also at lunch). The breakfast was wonderful with lots of fresh fruits and juices (a little more variety from day to day would make it even better althought the choice is great). The all inclusive (Gourmet Bliss) is probably a good idea in the first place. The Spa was wonderful too. I would without any hesitation highly recommend a stay here. Our holiday was simply amazing and I very much hope to come back.
