Named for famed 19th century naturalist, Charles Telfair, Heritage Le Telfair Golf & Spa Resort, Mauritius embodies beauty and elegance while celebrating its natural, unspoiled backdrop adrift in the Indian Ocean. Stretched across 15 acres atop the sandy shores of Bel Ombre Beach, Heritage Le Telfair's intimate village design includes 20 villas, each with 6-8 rooms that enjoy breathtaking beach views, private balconies, and floor-to-ceiling windows that permit abundant natural light to flow into the expansive living quarters. With design inspired by the French Colonial period on the island, rooms are outfitted with dark wood, over sized four-poster beds, lavish drapery and textiles, and a soft palette of light blue, green, and brown hues. En-suite bathrooms include claw-foot tubs in suites, walk-in showers, spacious dressing facilities, and plush bathrobes. At Heritage Le Telfair the smallest details are handled with the greatest care, because your comfort, pleasure, and experience are top priority.

The quality of a hotel is not based solely on its geographical location, the condition of its rooms, or—in the case of Heritage Le Telfair—its beach, which some may judge one way and others differently. In any case, I also measure a hotel’s quality by how it deals with problems and by the level of service provided by its staff. Yes, there are certainly various things I have to criticize about this hotel. However, I found it extraordinarily positive how the hotel handled these issues, and overall the quality of service provided by the employees was outstanding. In this context, I would like to highlight first and foremost Ashni, who, as our guest relations officer, was always helpful and supportive. But I would also like to mention the marketing manager Jimmy, Mukesh and Shalini from the Annabelle’s restaurant, as well as Anita from room cleaning and Reshna from housekeeping, all of whom did everything they could to make our stay at Le Telfair as pleasant as possible. Although the restaurants not really reached our expectations, it has to be mentioned that Rizqhi’s Teppan Yaki in the Gin-Ja was excellent and the presentation was stunning. We thank all of you, and also those who are not mentioned here.

My family and I spent Christmas and New Year's here. It is a lovely colonial-style hotel embedded in lush gardens and right on the shore of the Indian Ocean. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. In particular, our personal hostess, Ashni, went out of her way to make our stay perfect. She was always there to help us book excursions and make dinner reservations. With efficiency, professionalism, and a smile, she catered to our every whim. Thank you, Ashni! There are many exciting activities and excursions, such as golf, tennis, zip-lining in the jungle, and my favourite: kite-surfing. The rooms are what you would expect from a 5-star resort: large, clean, and quiet. It wasn't cheap, but again, what you would expect from a 5-star resort in the Indian Ocean. A memory of a lifetime!

We had a beautiful family stay once again at Heritage Le Telfair, and as always, the team did everything possible to make our stay truly special. From the recreation team, wonderfully led by Lionel, to the fantastic service at Ginja Restaurant with Greg and his team, everything was handled with care and flexibility. They constantly adapt to your needs and make you feel genuinely welcome. A special mention also goes to the concierge team, who always facilitate everything with great professionalism. This time, Adrien took particularly good care of our friends and us throughout the stay, ensuring that every detail was perfectly managed. A big thank you to the entire Heritage Le Telfair team for another memorable experience. We always leave with great memories and look forward to coming back.

The whole family had a very relaxing and enjoyable stay at the property over new years. We were on the gourmet bliss package. The food was excellent but I expected more given all the hype. It was a bit annoying to have to pay a supplement for a few items. The hotel should review this policy as the effect to their bottom line can’t be much but the irritation factor for the guests is high. The reason I didn’t give full marks for the rooms is because there were ants in both our rooms. Other than that service, location and experience is very good. Some of the staff could do with better training, as they fell short of a five star experience, but overall the staff were very pleasant. My designated butler, Adrienne, was lacking and although a very pleasant person he needs to improve his communication skills as he was very slow talking and seemed to hang around for a long time and we found this annoying to the point where we avoided him wherever possible. We had pre booked our dinner reservations so he had very little to do for us. Another point I would bring to management’s attention is a staff member at the restaurant Le Chateau was very unprofessional in New Year’s Eve, as we wanted to leave a tip but she asked that we put cash in an envelope and leave it at reception in her name otherwise the tip would be shared with the entire staff at the resort. The Managment should address this issue and review their policy on tipping. It comes across very badly when the staff request this and reflects badly on management. Other than this I would recommend the property to others.
