Just over a week at this incredible resort. Came to Mauritius for our honeymoon 32 years ago and decided to return and try Heritage Le Telfair. My husband found the golf outstanding. Both Le Chateau and La Reserve course were excellent and challenging. The Hotel experience was impeccable. Our host, Sharmine, was quietly available to us throughout organising our candlelit anniversary dinner, a boat trip, spa treatments and ensuring we had whatever we needed. Beyond 5 star service. A special mention to all the chefs. The food at this resort is world class.

We have just returned from a wonderful stay at Le Telfair. Travelling with a young family of three children under five the hotel was absolutely perfect. On arrival, our concierge Sharmine took the order of our baby food and ensured that all the baby’s food was prepared ahead of each restaurant booking - very helpful! Our children are frequent travellers but usually refuse kids club- at Le Telfair they were very keen to go every day, amazing activities including horse riding and fishing. Outside of kids club my girls made great friends with Spicy one of the waitressing team. She was so playful with my children and made the best ice creams! A real asset to the hotel to give us parents a break, the children are asking where she is at home! The main cavendish bar is beautiful, delicious cocktails although service can be slow and the drinks are not always made consistently. Nitesh and his team made the experience lots of fun and we loved his dark n stormy! We recommend eating breakfast C beach. It’s an à la carte experience included with half board package and it was delicious. Murkesh and Sharan always had our fresh coffee arrive within minutes of us sitting down and remembered our small preferences which made the experience so memorable- we kept returning! The real asset to the hotel is Emily, the restaurant reservations manager. She pre booked all our restaurants via WhatsApp before arrival and made sure all our preferences were catered to. Even when she wasn’t working she responded within seconds via WhatsApp and was so willing and helpful to put us in right direction to any challenges we had. I think she will be hotel manager one day! We had a few small challenges, but the hotel manager Olivia was very understanding and quickly rectified our issues with much grace. We also had a wonderful trip to visit the crocodiles with the hotel driver Widley- a very knowledgeable man and we learnt a lot about Mauritius. Overall, a wonderful relaxing stay and a beautiful resort. Highly recommend for family stay.

We stayed one night to celebrate our son’s birthday, and although short, we made the most of it — running on the beach, relaxing in the spa jacuzzi, cycling Château Bel Ombre, and enjoying a delicious lunch at the golf reserve. A special thank you to Jimmy for always making sure we are well settled and for organizing a birthday cake, which was absolutely delicious, and to Yannick for his kind assistance during our stay. The service was warm and attentive throughout. A memorable stay — we only wish it had been longer and will definitely be back!

The hotel experience was above expectations. We were there for the anniversary of my wife and she had a wonderfull experience. The diner at le Palmietr, with the special attention to my wifes birthday was much appreciated. The lobster by the way was excellent, as well as the advise of the sommelier. I would like to mention especially Sharmine, who accompanied us during the stay and was exceptional in helping us along. Also Jason and his team at the bar made our lunch experience unforgettable. The golf course at le Chateau was one of the best we ever played on, the staff was most helpfull and the clubs we rented of the highest quality. I can only recommend this hotel , we will certainly come back for a longer stay.

Heritage Le Telfair is undoubtedly a beautiful and well-maintained resort, and our arrival was handled very well. The hotel itself is elegant, spacious and set in a lovely, peaceful environment. Upon check-in we were welcomed in a calm and relaxed atmosphere and were assigned a host, Ashley, who truly deserves special recognition. She was outstanding: every request was handled immediately and efficiently, and when our son felt unwell, she went above and beyond to arrange thoughtful extras. Her service was genuinely excellent and very much appreciated. Unfortunately, our overall experience changed significantly once we entered the dining areas. From that moment on, the hotel felt more like a children’s resort than a luxury retreat. There were children everywhere — running around, shouting and treating the restaurants like a playground. The atmosphere was loud and chaotic, which came as a surprise for a hotel marketed as a luxury SLH property. On the evening of our arrival (around 8:30 pm), the only restaurant open was the buffet. Most of the food was already gone, and what remained had clearly been sitting under heat lamps for too long: dried out, unappealing and far below what one would expect from a hotel of this category. The following morning at breakfast, the situation was similar: again very noisy, with many unsupervised children throughout the restaurant. We raised this issue with Ashley, who once more handled it perfectly by arranging seating for us in the adults-only area — which made a noticeable and welcome difference. In terms of dining quality, we can honestly say that we only truly enjoyed our meals at Gin’ja and Infinity Blue, both of which delivered a good atmosphere and satisfying food. The other restaurants were very disappointing. Even Le Château, often promoted as “fine dining”, did not live up to that label in our experience — neither in execution, creativity nor overall culinary level. Conclusion: Heritage Le Telfair is, in reality, a paradise for families with young children — they are clearly allowed to roam freely, shout and play without much limitation. However, for couples or travelers seeking tranquility, relaxation and refined gastronomy, this hotel is not suitable. The combination of a very child-heavy environment and a generally mediocre culinary offering makes it hard to consider this a true luxury retreat, despite the beautiful setting and excellent personal service from staff like Ashley.
