Heritage Le Telfair Golf & Spa Resort

The hotel and service was great

We decided to try somewhere different this year for our summer break and following advice from Hannah Jones of Trailfinders Cardiff (thanks Hannah ) booked Heritage Le Telfair Mauritius. Never having been to Mauritius before we were a little nervous about what to expect although the reviews were very good. So after great Emirates flights from LHR to Mauritius via Dubai we finally arrived at the Domaine and what a wonderful place it turned out to be far exceeding our expectations. We were met in the elegant reception and filled in the usual bits and pieces - our room wasn't ready so we were shown to a special room to have a shower and change. Once done we were told that our room was ready and we were introduced to Noor, our personal stay host for the holiday who escorted us to our room and showed us the facilities etc. We had a Beachfront Suite in the Adults only area and it was superb. A big bedroom with a bed in the middle with a sitting area with chairs and table overlooking the beach, a huge bathroom with freestanding roll top bath and separate shower room again with views of the Indian ocean and a huge balcony with comfortable chairs and a table. Well stocked fridge (wine, beer, chocolate, soft drinks etc) and Nespresso coffee machine. He helped us arrange our dinner reservations and generally assisted in anything we wanted. The beach area has a large number of extremely comfortable beds with sunshades each with a call button for drinks/food service. The adults only pool which is set back slightly from the beach is warm and again has beds around it however these do not have shades. The sea water is crystal clear and blue and as it is within a lagoon is at low tide pretty shallow but at high tide has a strong tidal flow down the beach. We took beach shoes as we read that there was a lot of coral which there was. Near the edge of the beach is the Coco Shack where amazing coconut based cocktails within coconut shell are made - a must do. The Domaine has a number of restaurants all of which are excellent with food of a high quality. We had breakfast most mornings in Annabella's which has an adults only section is buffet based but with a huge selection of food. It was here we first met Garfield the poor little ginger stray cat - he has a badly damaged front leg and looks so sad. We did raise his situation with the management and eventually met their animal welfare people (Nishal and Christelle) who told us they had tried on many occasions to catch him but can't so they have promised to keep in touch with us about his future. There are a few cats and dogs on site but they are looked after by the welfare team and all except Garfield seem in good condition. We had a sundowner and meal in the Chateau transported there by shuttle to see the sunset followed by an excellent meal - beware of mosquitoes though ensure you wear inspect spray. Lots of watersports available paddleboarding, kayaks, sailing boats, pedalos in the safe lagoon environment and river. Cavendish is the elegant colonial style bar near Annabella's where we first met Spicy a wonderful helpful lady who couldn't do enough - like all the staff of Heritage. One evening we were invited for aperitifs with Mrs Jossy Chavagnan Head of Concierge in Cavendish - she like everyone was welcoming and warm and we had an interesting discussion about our holidays and her work. It is impossible to talk about all the restaurants except to say the standards are extremely high there are dress standards which men particularly need to be aware of but that only helps to make the experience that much more special. My wife has fairly particular dietary requirements and at all times these were respected and dealt with even to the extent that one evening the food manager had arranged for the chef to prepare a whole meal for her which was an amazing gesture. There is just so much more I could say about this amazing place but the best endorsement I can make is that we are already planning on returning next year. If you like a quiet elegant holiday where you are treated as treasured guests in a truly five star environment then you must visit here.

Our 6th time at Heritage Le Telfair and a truly wonderful stay once again. We really enjoy all of the different restaurant choices available on the Gourmet Bliss package all offering a wide variety of menu options. The food quality and flavours as well as the service that we received was exceptional in every restaurant. We were delighted to receive an invitation to a special ‘repeaters’ dinner during our stay hosted by the GM Mr Dominique Grel and the management team. We enjoyed excellent food, wine pairing, service and entertainment and a big thank you to all the chefs and staff that contributed to such a fantastic evening. There are also several bars spread around the resort, our favourites being watching the magical sunsets at Gin’ja with a ‘monkey business’ cocktail in hand to a post dinner ‘espresso martini’ at the Cavendish Bar listening to some excellent musicians. The mixologists were all very friendly and did a brilliant job of concocting some delicious cocktails. We really hope that the hotel continues to hold events such as the weekly Rum tasting evening as well as the Barbecue pig roast at Annabella’s on Sunday’s which are always very popular with guests. Whilst I am playing golf on the two outstanding courses which has the green fees included in the Gourmet Bliss package, my wife is able to fully relax in the peaceful and tranquil surroundings of the adults only zone and pool. The beach staff at La Casa Bar worked tirelessly to keep everyone happy and a big thank you to Viven and Valerie and the ever smiling Vimal at the Coco shack for their fantastic service. A special mention and thank you to the following people:- Ashni our wonderful host who gracefully took care of all our requests during our stay. Nishal for his kindness and generosity in arranging for the pastry chef to make a special desert. It was a pleasure to spend time with him and Jimmy. Daksh at Gin’ja who’s kindness, warm personality and exceptional service made every visit there a treat. Yoven who we have become good friends with over the years and who always takes exceptional care of us when we visit Annabella’s. Shyama at La Reserve is a ray of sunshine and her warmth and kindness makes every visit to the restaurant a pleasure. Ashley, Pucki and Drishtee at the Chateau Golf Club who were brilliant and always provided excellent service and cocktails! And finally our heartfelt gratitude to the General Manager Mr Dominique Grel whose leadership and generosity has undoubtedly contributed to the fantastic improvements to the resort that we have experienced since his arrival…. This was our second visit to Heritage Le Telfair, and this time we brought the whole family, including our grandchildren, to celebrate a special birthday and share this wonderful resort with them. We were not disappointed. From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel as though we had come home. The resort offers an excellent range of facilities, with both family-friendly areas and peaceful adults-only spaces for those seeking relaxation away from the children. Throughout the resort, there are fantastic options for dining and refreshments during the day. Our grandchildren thoroughly enjoyed the Kids Club, which is extremely well managed and provides a safe, caring environment. Meanwhile, the adults made good use of the Wellness Spa. We also appreciated the complimentary daily wellness activities, including yoga, Pilates, and meditation. The instructors were professional, knowledgeable, and passionate about what they did. What truly sets this resort apart is its people. Every member of staff showed an exceptional commitment to making our stay memorable. A special thank you to Noor, our host, who ensured every detail of our stay was perfectly organised and that every member of our family was well looked after. We would also like to thank Swastee, who looked after our room so wonderfully throughout our stay. The Food & Beverage team consistently delivered outstanding service. They genuinely cared about ensuring we enjoyed every meal. While the whole team deserves recognition, we would particularly like to thank Jean Pierre, Chris, Mukesh (Annabella and C Beach Club), Naresh, Steward (C Beach Club), and Sheetal (Le Château), all of whom went above and beyond to make our dining experiences so enjoyable. It was also refreshing to see the senior leadership team visible around the resort. General Manager Dominique could be seen daily, spending time with guests while also supporting his team. This created a welcoming atmosphere and demonstrated a genuine commitment to excellence. Overall, this was a fantastic holiday and reaffirmed why Heritage Le Telfair is one of our favourite hotels. We have created more wonderful family memories and are already looking forward to returning next year.

Returned once again believe me having been so many times but still to experience a fantastic holiday,the staff far to many to mention individually we would love to thank them each and everyone of them particularly because of my wife’s ongoing problem with her leg without them it would have impacted on our holiday a great deal thanks to you all. The hotel grounds are always beautifully maintained buy the gardeners .The food is never a problem because there is always lots of options to chose from, drinks try all the different cocktails all well prepared and good quality products. Room always spotlessly clean thanks again thanks again to the staff.Golf the two courses are in fantastic condition and it’s your choice how adventurous you want to play . To sum up a big thank you to our butler for her work and all the staff plus must not forget the management we cannot fault you we will return again.
