Named for famed 19th century naturalist, Charles Telfair, Heritage Le Telfair Golf & Spa Resort, Mauritius embodies beauty and elegance while celebrating its natural, unspoiled backdrop adrift in the Indian Ocean. Stretched across 15 acres atop the sandy shores of Bel Ombre Beach, Heritage Le Telfair's intimate village design includes 20 villas, each with 6-8 rooms that enjoy breathtaking beach views, private balconies, and floor-to-ceiling windows that permit abundant natural light to flow into the expansive living quarters. With design inspired by the French Colonial period on the island, rooms are outfitted with dark wood, over sized four-poster beds, lavish drapery and textiles, and a soft palette of light blue, green, and brown hues. En-suite bathrooms include claw-foot tubs in suites, walk-in showers, spacious dressing facilities, and plush bathrobes. At Heritage Le Telfair the smallest details are handled with the greatest care, because your comfort, pleasure, and experience are top priority.

Third visit to Heritage this year was much improved. This time we booked the Gourmet Bliss (GB) package. Positives: full board limited to all inclusive meals and local drinks. Negatives, really limited GB wine list Hotel complex: nice location very close to golf, well maintained although will be going through a big refurb soon. always sun beds and space available even with 90%+ occupancy, never felt rushed. Super friendly staff many of whom recognised us from previous visits right from the start with warm friendly hugs and greetings - felt at home from the get go. Great use of WhatsApp to communicate bookings, events and communication Management team call the Telfair a 5 star plus, they’re striving to get there Concierge: Anais is a breath of fresh air, approachable, fast to act and follow through on everything. A real credit to Heritage. Reception Valerie was the consummate professional, Calm, efficient and a pleasure to deal with. Thanks for the pen Valerie 😎 Rooms: nice big and clean, special thanks to Marie Ange and once again Marie Anne who made sure everything was shipshape and spotless. Marie Anne is a great host Dinning: Many thanks to the ever helpful Akishta arranging not only our dinner bookings, but immediate action on any problems and always just making sure that we were OK, an absolute star and a real credit to Heritage As for the Restaurants they were a mix of excellent and abjectly poor. La Reserve: the evening dinner with management was Michelin Star level, 70 guests and management for a superb evening. This was a stark difference to the food served during the day which although abundant was too slow to arrive 45 minutes wait (after 4.5hr round of golf) for a huge barely edible club sandwich - the concept of just a small meal is all but lost there. Ginja excellent, delicious food and friendly service. Carene once again was superb, navigating us through the Japanese delights. Annabellas, excellent for Breakfast and dinner, great service from Pamela.- loved the endless supply of Crepe’s and a wonderful outgoing personality. Akishta and Ashley pounced on a mischarge issue and were relentless until it was resolved to our satisfaction, Vimal and Akishta set up a surprise super last day dinner, the table setting and service were truly outstanding. Zafarini Indian restaurant much improved - now have really spiced food, great food and service C Beach and La Parmier quality continues to decline Le Chateau. The location in the old mansion is superb, unfortunately the venison and wild boar main courses were barely edible in stark contrast to Desert which was was superb. The staff in general pleasant to the point one brought over mosquito repellant to help as we were eating on the veranda. Shame it didn’t repel the head waiter (?) who was pretentious, obnoxious and had a real attitude problem. Health Spa: The free 20min jet lag massage was superb, but the follow up Massage with Shannon was even better. Great facilities and wonderful staff. Shannon was so kind and considerate managing my wife’s massage - converting her from hating massage having been hurt by a previous masseuse to now loving it. The golf courses: Challenging Courses, fast and tricky greens, brutal deep rough. Long hilly walk with distance between Green and next Tees if you don’t use a buggy LA Reserve, fantastic links golf, 1 round, buggy and practice balls included per 7 day stay. Spectacular ocean views on every hole. A real challenge when the wind gets up - and it does 15-20mph, bring plenty of balls you’ll probably need them. Mauritius Open Championship rough eats them. Garmin golf watch doesn’t work at this course. Arrive early as 1st hole is a 15 minute buggy ride from practice area. Starter-shack has practice putting green so you can hit some balls on the range then go to the shack and warm up the putter 😎 Whatever your handicap don’t be put off play from the right tees and you will enjoy a spectacular round - just take lots of balls, you can buy recently lost balls at low cost from locals on the beach 🫢 Le Chateau. Green fees, buggy and practice balls every day currently included in the Gourmet Bliss package. Much easier to play than La Reserve. Great views and super course - has also hosted the Mauritius Open. From mid 2026 apparently you will have to pay for golf on both courses - currently included in Gourmet bliss at this time. Major downside going forward as other comparable Golf resorts on the island offer Golf as part of their packages at lower cost Below is my review from our November visit, on Tripadvisor you have to delete your old review if you wish to add a new one. In the interests of fairness Le Telfair have improved I have included the old review below for completeness Second visit to Heritage this year was an abject disappointment. Awali is definitely better value for money. Half Board at Le Te Fair vs All Inclusive at Awali in February, All the same restaurants and most of the facilities for a lower price at Awali. Major gripe this time - being charged for bottled water with meals, come on Telfair surely you’re better than that!!! Management team call the Telfair a 5 star plus, it’s not anywhere near, they gave lots of lip service but rarely followed through and delivered, when they did it was usually an apology for not being able to help with request. Hotel complex: nice location very close to golf, well maintained although will be going through a big refurb soon. always sun beds and space available even with 90%+ occupancy, never felt rushed. Rooms: nice big and clean, special thanks to Marie Anne who made sure everything was shipshape and spotless. As for the Restaurants they were a mix of excellent and abjectly poor. Ginja excellent, delicious food and friendly service. Annabellas, excellent for Breakfast, great service from Mukesh and Pamela.- loved the endless supply of Crepe’s 😎 Dinner was average at best and the sight of the Tenerec (Rodent) walking through restaurant didn’t impress C Beach was much better last time we visited OGrill, at La Chateau absolutely abysmal. Requested Au Poivre Sauce with steak and the “Cook” - couldn’t credit the with the title chef had no idea how to cook it , not a black peppercorn in sight ! Golf courses: Challenging Course, fast and tricky greens, brutal deep rough. Long hilly walk with distance between Green and next Tees if you don’t use a buggy. Entertaining spectators as a Troop of 10 monkeys followed us down the 6th fairway 😱 Facilities, staff, service and condition very good. Although clubs never cleaned properly by caddies

Once again, it was a thoroughly enjoyable stay. The butler service and room service were attentive, friendly and very helpful. As always, the quality of the food and the friendliness of the staff were of the highest standard, and the condition of the Le Chateau and La Réserve Golf Links courses couldn’t be better. Everything here is just perfect. Many thanks to all the staff and, above all, to Ashni Sunnassee for your support every minute of the day in making our stay such a success. See you soon!
