Named for famed 19th century naturalist, Charles Telfair, Heritage Le Telfair Golf & Spa Resort, Mauritius embodies beauty and elegance while celebrating its natural, unspoiled backdrop adrift in the Indian Ocean. Stretched across 15 acres atop the sandy shores of Bel Ombre Beach, Heritage Le Telfair's intimate village design includes 20 villas, each with 6-8 rooms that enjoy breathtaking beach views, private balconies, and floor-to-ceiling windows that permit abundant natural light to flow into the expansive living quarters. With design inspired by the French Colonial period on the island, rooms are outfitted with dark wood, over sized four-poster beds, lavish drapery and textiles, and a soft palette of light blue, green, and brown hues. En-suite bathrooms include claw-foot tubs in suites, walk-in showers, spacious dressing facilities, and plush bathrobes. At Heritage Le Telfair the smallest details are handled with the greatest care, because your comfort, pleasure, and experience are top priority.

We have already come back to the Telfair in Mauritius for the third time in August because of the very agreeable and mild climate, the beautiful architecture of the resort and the many options and activities for every family member. The white two-storey apartment buildings in the style of colonial homes are very well integrated into the lush and varied tropical vegetation, so that the resort feels less like a hotel but like an upper-class residential area. The rooms are spacious and also decorated in colonial style. There are two very large pools and one smaller one which are never overcrowded and allow for some proper lap-swimming with the giant fruit bats circling overhead in the evening. We also enjoy the varied breakfast buffet with lots of fresh fruit but also egg-specialties, pancakes, crepes and warm (Indian) dishes. There is so much to do here that even two weeks aren‘t long enough to try it all. We came for the kite-surfing, snorkeling and tennis and ended up doing so much more from pickle-ball to volleyball, mat-pilates, and hitting a few golf-balls at the driving-range before getting a relaxing massage at the Spa. We went on a dolphin and turtle tour and were lucky to swim with both types of friendly sea-dwellers. We cycled to Le Morne and managed to climb the sacred big rock all the way to the top. We also visited the Chamarel rum-distillery and the giant tortoises at Casela Nature Park by rental car. But there is still more to explore! We are also charmed by the very friendly and attentive staff who have welcomed us back with gifts for our second and third stay. We were truly pleased with the patient and caring management & staff at the Kite-Center, who were always helpful and friendly. I was truly smitten with David, the pilates-teacher and head of activities, who explains and demonstrates very well while exuding self -confidence and kindness. He even devoted his free time to explaining some of the pilates exercises to me in greater detail after class. We will be back for more Mauritius at the Telfair for sure! Mainly people from France, Britain, Germany but also from Arab countries enjoy the Telfair, which makes for an interesting and varied clientele. Like the Mauritians, who are of varied origin but respect each other, the guests get along well too.

Fantastic holiday as a family of 5 (kids 8-12). Staff were brilliant and couldn’t do enough to help. Pool, padel, water sports all really good fun and location is perfect. Special shout out to the team at Cavendish - they really looked after us very well. Ademola, Spicy and Adijat especially!!
