Named for famed 19th century naturalist, Charles Telfair, Heritage Le Telfair Golf & Spa Resort, Mauritius embodies beauty and elegance while celebrating its natural, unspoiled backdrop adrift in the Indian Ocean. Stretched across 15 acres atop the sandy shores of Bel Ombre Beach, Heritage Le Telfair's intimate village design includes 20 villas, each with 6-8 rooms that enjoy breathtaking beach views, private balconies, and floor-to-ceiling windows that permit abundant natural light to flow into the expansive living quarters. We couldn't decide which hotel to go to so picked this one for a week and then on to lux le morne for a week. When we left the heritage telfair we were very sad and the lux didn't really compete at all. The telfair is by far the best hotel we have ever stayed in - it's beautiful. The rooms are huge, light and airy with gorgeous views even if you just have a garden view which we did - it looked out over the river and ir was so relaxing to sit on the balcony and watch the bats flying around ! We had bad weather unfortunately with 6 days out of 7 being cloudy and a fair bit of rain but even just sitting in the palmier restaurant on the beach having champagne with lunch watching the rain was pure heaven. It is such a relaxing place to be. The food is incredible and the all inclusive offering is superb - you will not find the quality and choice of restaurants anywhere else with all inclusive. Not to mention the unlimited champagne! Le chateau is fantastic and so romantic we went twice - they also have lovely live music there. Other hotels would charge you a supplement for restaurants like this - such as the lux - so you really get the feeling that this hotel is all about providing a lovely experience and not just about the money. We did think the gourmet bliss was great value for money when compared with the lux all inclusive. We also loved steak night at the golf club - also all included ! We would love to revisit the hotel again - perhaps when the weather is better ! Highly recommend this hotel ! Superb .

the Telfair is our favourite destination, which we have now visited several times over the last 10 years, and it never disappoints. After extensive refurbishment in the hotel, beach area, pool decking, new restaurant Le Palmier, it is even better. The golf course is in super condition. Many of the staff we remember, and they us, so it feels like a second home as soon as we arrive. Hope we can go again next year.

We spent 11 wonderful nights at Le Telfair. Lovely welcome, beautiful room with every you could possibly need. The food in the hotel, wherever you chose to eat was gorgeous, service was bordering on slow but you are on holiday so what's the rush? Le Chateau is a must, as many times as you can get a reservation. Gin'Ja was also fabulous and we enjoyed many a sunset from the tables on the beach next to the restaurant. The staff in there were the best staff in the hotel! Le Palmier was good and Annabella's although good quality was quite a limited choice in the evening. That said, their breakfast (pancakes especially) was outstanding for quality and choice. We ordered a packed lunch for a day trip and that was substantial. The Cavendish Bar appears to be the main hub, especially in the evening and although there was an abundance of staff the speed of service was very slow A drink could take 30 minutes to arrive from the point of ordering. We were on the Gourmet Bliss package which pretty much included everything. The prices were very high for people on B & B or half board. We arranged a day trip around the island which was considerably cheaper than the one offered by the hotel as were the airport transfers. My husband thoroughly enjoyed the golf and we used the pedalos, kayaks and sailing boats which were all great fun.

This is our second visit to this delightful hotel and, as we found previously, the warmth and friendliness of the staff from gardeners to management was exceptional. Manuela who looked after us for the entirety of our stay was attentive and caring. From making dinner reservations to golf bookings, nothing was too much trouble. Our room overlooked the small heated pool and had a sea view. It was spacious and had recently been tastefully renovated with lighter decor and very comfortable patio chairs, ideal for a quiet snooze or afternoon reading. The gardens are tranquil with a variety of locations to sit and enjoy the surroundings. Don’t miss the small courtyard area where you can sample delicious pancakes, enjoy afternoon tea or something stronger! My husband and I had many an enjoyable round of golf on the excellent nearby course. The variety of tees make it a challenge for all handicap levels and the views of mountains and the Indian Ocean were a delight. We had two superb evening dinners at The Chateau de Bel Ombre, a venue not to be missed. Michel Fredric’s vision for this hotel will make it somewhere you’ll want to visit again and again - we certainly do.

• Impressed by the great hospitality from all the staff. (Special thanks to Visham, Jenny & Ashley) • Magical resort with a lot of activities. • 6-7 bars & restaurants to dine in. • Room was really nice, spacious with all comforts. • Best breakfast I have seen so far. • Perfect place for honeymooners.
