We have just returned from 12 utterly blissful nights spent at this beautiful hotel. The minute we entered its idyllic setting we felt like we were in paradise. Our suite was directly on the beach and was very luxurious. The hotel staff were excellent especially Jenita who was our appointed guest host. She arranged for us to view all the facilities and also the Heritage Awali hotel. During our stay we had opted for the gourmet bliss package and we were not disappointed. All the food on offer at all the restaurants was exceptional, especially Ginja and Le Chateau. We even managed to get a lift in the hotels Range Rover to dinner at Le chateau which was amazing. We will definitely be returning to this wonderful hotel as soon as possible. It really is a little piece of paradise.

Advice, DO NOT listen to any reviews that say this place is bad. I can honestly say that Mauritius and staying in this hotel was the best 10 days of my life. South Mauritius is by far the best on the island, we hired a car and preferred the south out of all the places we visited. Back to the hotel, it's simply amazing. The staff really looked after us, nothing was too much for them and they really wanted us to have an amazing time. If you stay here, make sure Serves you at the bar, he is very funny and quite a character. Stop by for some ice cream with Devin and enjoy being waited on by Rupiraj. Thanks also to Josie for making sure everything was 100% perfect. I have never gone back to the same place twice, but I would go back to Mauritius and would stay at this hotel. Thanks again.

We've just returned home from spending 6 wonderful nights at this lovely, newly renovated hotel. We could have happily stayed much longer. We'd booked a room with a sea view but were upgraded on arrival to a junior suite which was spacious, fresh, light and comfortable, with a large balcony outside and a very comfortable seating area inside. The bathroom was large and well appointed, though we were told that these too are due to be renovated. Honestly, they were pretty luxurious as they are now. It was a pleasure to walk to a delicious breakfast at Annabella's each morning through the beautiful grounds. Evening cocktails and canapes at the Cavendish bar each evening were something to look forward to each day and, although we enjoyed food in many of the restaurants, the two meals we ate at Ginja really stood out. What made this stay truly special though, was the help of a butler (!) who comes with the junior suites. Melvin made our stay really memorable and he went out of his way to go above and beyond our hopes and expectations. Unfortunately,it just makes coming home and doing our own chores that much harder. There are many activities available on and around the grounds - some free and some with a charge - but, if you do nothing else, do visit the Frederica nature reserve; we drove a buggy through some lovely scenery with wild animals and ended up by a waterfall, swimming in the water under it. Take old clothes if you go there; you'll get dirty but you'll have a great time. All in all, we'd go back like a shot. I'm missing it already. Patsy and Paul

We did not actually stay at this hotel but merely visited for a few hours. It looked very nice and very well kept. This review is about the kitesurfing. The kitesurfing facility at the C club is part of the hotel and looks very well run with good equipment. You can walk out for about 100m and stay standing which is good for learning. As a complete beginner, you would be better off learning at Club Paridisio El Gouna in Egypt instead. ( I have reviewed this previously) However, depending on the wind conditions, there is a bit of a wind shadow due to the headland in the normal SE prevailing wind. A quick body dray will easily solve this. The bay is easily large enough, and it is a further distance to the reef when compared to Bellemare /Palamar school which operates from the Maritim Crystal hotel. The water is relatively flat and more so at low tide as the reef stops the larger waves coming in. I preferred this spot to Palamar as the bay is bigger. If you can afford this hotel, this would be a good base for a kitesurfing holiday, especially with a non-kitesurfing partner or spouse as the swimming pool and sun loungers are right at the launch site. An added advantage is a short taxi ride to Le Morne if the wind is better there. As an intermediate kiter, I preferred this spot to LeMorne as that got very busy. On the day we visited in mid-September there were 50 kiters out at Le Morne lagoon and only 4-6 at Bel Ombre. I would ask for a room near the kitesurfing club as that is also close to the beach, swimming pool and eating facilities.

I really don't know where to start! From the minute you arrive until they are actually waving you good bye, the experience is exceptional. We were met by Melvyn, with a welcome drink, he was our butler (and whilst we didn't think we needed a butler, we did). He first said that now we relax and he does all the work and that is what he did. Jokingly we believed that with the welcome drink was a tiny homing beacon because every time we had a question, we looked up and he was there, but never in a way that felt too much. What ever they pay him is not enough. A mention also needs to go to Yarick who took over on Melvyn's day off, he was also excellent. The hotel itself has just been refurbished and our room (which was only one up from the bottom) was very large with a huge bathroom. It was perfect. We went for the All inclusive option and were amazed that this included most food and drink items. Sandals, eat your heart out, this is how to do All inclusive. The food was really good, the Chateau was a really lovely experience, as was the Indian restaurant. Gin ja was also fantastic and manoj needs a mention as he was so helpful and good at his job. Also, the waiter at the golf course was exceptional. There is so much to do, we did the buggy safari and boat trip which were really worth doing. If you stay here you will not be disappointed.
