Heritage Le Telfair Golf & Spa Resort in Bel Ombre, Mauritius

Named for famed 19th century naturalist, Charles Telfair, Heritage Le Telfair Golf & Spa Resort, Mauritius embodies beauty and elegance while celebrating its natural, unspoiled backdrop adrift in the Indian Ocean. Stretched across 15 acres atop the sandy shores of Bel Ombre Beach, Heritage Le Telfair's intimate village design includes 20 villas, each with 6-8 rooms that enjoy breathtaking beach views, private balconies, and floor-to-ceiling windows that permit abundant natural light to flow into the expansive living quarters. With design inspired by the French Colonial period on the island, rooms are outfitted with dark wood, over sized four-poster beds, lavish drapery and textiles, and a soft palette of light blue, green, and brown hues. En-suite bathrooms include claw-foot tubs in suites, walk-in showers, spacious dressing facilities, and plush bathrobes. At Heritage Le Telfair the smallest details are handled with the greatest care, because your comfort, pleasure, and experience are top priority.

The resort's spa provides a complete catalogue of treatments that integrate traditional and modern spa therapies, as well as a comprehensive wellness program that focuses on rejuvenating the mind and body. Guests may indulge in a manicure/pedicure combination while pondering a new look ŕ la the on-site hair stylist, or unwind in the vitality pool while troubles drift away amidst the soothing vibration of a bubble bed. Whatever your pleasure, you will find it at Heritage Le Telfair, where nature is valued just as it is, and you are always welcome.

Having had two great holidays in Mauritus we were nervous about going to a different resort but Le Telfair was excellent. Great rooms, very spacious. Great selection of restaurants, Ginja and Le Palmier were outstanding and in tremendous locations by the beach. Everyone was very helpful and very keen to help, our only niggle was that booking restaurants for your whole stay seemed unnecessary and once done trying to make any changes were difficult. We went just to chill out and play some golf and had a great time. We are already talking of a return trip and would not hesitate to recommend the resort.

Our first two visits to the Heritage Le Telfair Golf & Spa Resort in 2012 and 2013 were fantastic experiences, so we decided to come back in November 2017 to discover the resort again after its recent renovations. We were delighted to see that the hotel kept its high standards and added a fresh and up-to-date feel to the colonial atmosphere. The large and comfortable rooms are tastefully re-decorated and very well equipped. The beach area has become more spacious and the main pool area was uplifted with the addition of water cabanas and an elegant sundeck, which aligns stylishly with the completely remodelled seafood restaurant (Le Palmier) and the new seating area in front of the Cavendish bar. The food concept has also been adjusted so that it is now possible to enjoy a variety of different restaurants as part of the half board package and that even the premier restaurants (Gin’Ja and Le Chateau de Bel Ombre) offer a credit for the guests with a meal package. The Chateau de Bel Ombre has been renewed and offers the unique opportunity to travel back in time and stay for a night in the suite of this historical building. Our residence host (formerly called butler) provided us with travel boxes to pack our necessities and escorted us to the chateau where we were greeted with a glass of champagne to enjoy the sunset. The very knowledgeable head sommelier offered us a vine and cheese tasting and gave us interesting insights about vine around the world before we settled on the terrace for a gourmet dinner. After a good night sleep the experience was rounded off with a perfect breakfast served on the terrace overlooking the beautiful garden and the wonderful golf course. During our stay we had the opportunity to talk to the Executive Assistant Manager Kavi Lutchmiah and learn more about the ambitious projects to sustain and advance the Heritage Le Telfair’s status as one of the leading resorts on Mauritius. We were very impressed with his personal approach of managing the hotel, his great attention to detail and genuine friendliness. He truly exemplifies Mauritian hospitality and inspires this behaviour in his team and the staff. For us the third visit at the Telfair was certainly very memorable and we left with a big smile, being sure that we will return soon again to this very special place.

this is a rather very good hotel in terms of the building and location of the hotel , the rooms are very well placed with a very good view of most of the rooms , ( up to hear is nice start ) but to be honest the service is not that good , below are few examples of :- - the house keeping is a real mess , you hardly get what you ask about , not a sign of a five start , but a kind of a two star hotel . - you need to walk with a spray of mosquito killer as otherwise you will have a real bad time - very strict of check in and check out times , no flexibility .. to be also fair the restaurants are good , the service is good but also the variety of food is not that excellent ...

We are about to return to Le Telfair for the third year running. We don't normally return to a resort with such regularity but this one is so good, I'm afraid I'd just be disappointed if I went elsewhere. Great food, great golf, beautiful surroundings and staff that can't do enough for you. This is a truly special place to relax and unwind where you are welcomed like friends and treated like Royalty.

We had a lovely stay at the hotel for a week to celebrate my birthday. We stayed in one of the sea-view suites, absolutely lovely, size and amenities. Our evening housekeeper Angelee was a real delight to see every evening. The food is amazing, great atmosphere and the hotel is gorgeous. The dinner at the chateaux is a must, the best dining experience - it really is something special. The only critique I could give is the service on the beach is a little slow. I would stay here again.
