Named for famed 19th century naturalist, Charles Telfair, Heritage Le Telfair Golf & Spa Resort, Mauritius embodies beauty and elegance while celebrating its natural, unspoiled backdrop adrift in the Indian Ocean. Stretched across 15 acres atop the sandy shores of Bel Ombre Beach, Heritage Le Telfair's intimate village design includes 20 villas, each with 6-8 rooms that enjoy breathtaking beach views, private balconies, and floor-to-ceiling windows that permit abundant natural light to flow into the expansive living quarters. Wonderful hotel, very colonial in appearance. Rooms are superb, especially those with an ocean view. Plenty of space to relax and enjoy the beautiful setting. Food is really excellent, there is a choice of 9 restaurants, all offering different experiences. Would recommend Gormet Bliss package. Wide variety of activities, from kite surfing to art, from a championship golf course to quad biking through a nature reserve, from paddle pilates to snooker. Staff are so friendly, determined to help you enjoy your holiday without being too pushy. Definitely hope to return one day. Only drawback is the 12 hour flight and we were delayed both ways on Air Mauritius.

We spent 8 nights at This hotel in The middle of Octobre. The hotel is very Beautiful, The beaches too. The Rooms Are great, We stayed at The beach view suit and We loved it!!! The only thing that did made me give This hotel a 4 star was The food! It was not good at all! The only good food was at The Boma safari (only tuesdays) and you have to book in advance. The roomservice was poor, They have me The wrong order 2 times. Well lets just day that We would not go back because of The food!!! The staff is friendly and helpful. Last year We stayed at The Shanti Maurice hotel very close to This one and over there The food was 5 stars!!!!! We do recommend This hotel but i think that you can find better, IF The food is not that important This hotel is perfect!!!

We had the most fantastic stay at the Le Telfair hotel. It was our first trip to Mauritius and we didn't know the island well, plus we booked last minute so we weren't really sure what to expect. From the moment we arrived we felt relaxed. The hotel is a small boutique hotel in terms of the amount of rooms / guests there are but the grounds are vast and there are so many beautiful areas to spend time. The rooms and grounds are pristine and the facilities are fabulous. We enjoyed using the bikes to explore some of the coastline and we spent a lot of time at the Beach Club using the water skis and various boats and facilities there. The spa is also top quality. The staff in this hotel are absolutely fantastic - and we liked the balance between the restaurant and bar staff and their formal and professional service and the relaxed, fun (and equally professional I hasten to add) service from the beach club team. The housekeeping staff are so friendly, so polite and so good at what they do - a special mention to Kadress who really looked after us well during our stay. We also had a small matter we wanted to discuss with the hotel manager about an event that was taking place during our stay - The Duty Manager we met with addressed our concern expertly and we were left with a fantastic impression of the hotel's commitment to listening to its customer feedback. The hotel really does have all you need to just stay there with little need to go out. We are quite used to spending our holidays being active and adventurous and were looking for something a bit different this time - I couldn't recommend this place more if R&R is what you are after. If you do fancy going out it's very easy to organise and get around. We did rent a car one day and took a fantastic boat trip another. We fell in love with Mauritius and with this hotel (which feels like so much more than "just a hotel") - topped off with the fact that we got engaged whilst there. We will always look back fondly and we will be back one day, of that we are sure.

If this is the best Mauritius can offer, then I wouldn’t bother. Firstly, the hotel didn’t honor the booking I made and gave us a lower room category than I booked through Travel Republic, even though the voucher clearly stated I’d booked a senior suite I was given a basic room. Secondly, the food overall was pretty sub standard for a 5 star hotel, even their signature Le Chateaux restaurant wasn’t anything to write home about, is this really the best restaurant on Mauritius???? Next the sailing equipment was poorly maintained and could lead to difficulties whilst out at sea, customers were allowed out with broken rudders, missing plugs which would lead to water flooding the hull, why was basic safety ignored??? If you go to the spa be warned about the up selling, they ‘discover’ an issue, and then offer an expensive potion which will alleviate the problem, don’t be a sucker and fall for it!!!! The Heritage is not a world class resort and this can be seen through their approach to customer care, they just don’t know how to manage customer complaints and basically don’t care, their attitude is they have your money so tough. We definitely will not be going back and won’t touch any of the Small Luxury Hotels of the world ever again.

We couldn't decide which hotel to go to so picked this one for a week and then on to lux le morne for a week. When we left the heritage telfair we were very sad and the lux didn't really compete at all. The telfair is by far the best hotel we have ever stayed in - it's beautiful. The rooms are huge, light and airy with gorgeous views even if you just have a garden view which we did - it looked out over the river and ir was so relaxing to sit on the balcony and watch the bats flying around ! We had bad weather unfortunately with 6 days out of 7 being cloudy and a fair bit of rain but even just sitting in the palmier restaurant on the beach having champagne with lunch watching the rain was pure heaven. It is such a relaxing place to be. The food is incredible and the all inclusive offering is superb - you will not find the quality and choice of restaurants anywhere else with all inclusive. Not to mention the unlimited champagne! Le chateau is fantastic and so romantic we went twice - they also have lovely live music there. Other hotels would charge you a supplement for restaurants like this - such as the lux - so you really get the feeling that this hotel is all about providing a lovely experience and not just about the money. We did think the gourmet bliss was great value for money when compared with the lux all inclusive. We also loved steak night at the golf club - also all included ! We would love to revisit the hotel again - perhaps when the weather is better ! Highly recommend this hotel ! Superb .
