Heritage Le Telfair Golf & Spa Resort in Bel Ombre, Mauritius

Named for famed 19th century naturalist, Charles Telfair, Heritage Le Telfair Golf & Spa Resort, Mauritius embodies beauty and elegance while celebrating its natural, unspoiled backdrop adrift in the Indian Ocean. Stretched across 15 acres atop the sandy shores of Bel Ombre Beach, Heritage Le Telfair's intimate village design includes 20 villas, each with 6-8 rooms that enjoy breathtaking beach views, private balconies, and floor-to-ceiling windows that permit abundant natural light to flow into the expansive living quarters. With design inspired by the French Colonial period on the island, rooms are outfitted with dark wood, over sized four-poster beds, lavish drapery and textiles, and a soft palette of light blue, green, and brown hues. En-suite bathrooms include claw-foot tubs in suites, walk-in showers, spacious dressing facilities, and plush bathrobes. At Heritage Le Telfair the smallest details are handled with the greatest care, because your comfort, pleasure, and experience are top priority.

Heritage Le Telfair's prime location on Bel Ombre Beach, surrounded by golf clubs, resorts, and the sparkling ocean, means there is always something new to do and see. Not only does the resort include three on-site restaurants and a bar, but with eight surrounding eateries nearby guests can enjoy everything from local favorites to international delights. The resort's spa provides a complete catalogue of treatments that integrate traditional and modern spa therapies, as well as a comprehensive wellness program that focuses on rejuvenating the mind and body. Guests may indulge in a manicure/pedicure combination while pondering a new look ŕ la the on-site hair stylist, or unwind in the vitality pool while troubles drift away amidst the soothing vibration of a bubble bed. Whatever your pleasure, you will find it at Heritage Le Telfair, where nature is valued just as it is, and you are always welcome.

We arrived at this beautiful resort with a wonderful welcome from our butler Khem wwho was very helpful and showed us to our lovely room .It was a basic garden view room but absolutely perfect and a good size .After 2 days we were upgraded upstairs to a senior suite as they needed to do some work in our room . The suite was very large an comfortable with a huge bathroom . Many thanks to Kevin the duty manager as i gave him such a fright when i thought we had been robbed as went to my safe whilst my husband was playing golf and safe was empty .What i didnt realise was that in new room there were two safes ! So apologies Kevin !! The food was best we have ever had in any 5 star hotel and the staff are exceptional . Special thanks to Vikesh in la Palmiere and Christof in Ginja and also our lovely barman in Cavendish sorry cant remember your name .We will definitely return as we loved it so much .Weather was not perfect but did not spoil our holiday . Do not hesitate to book the Gourmet Bliss Package it is worth it !!

We are well travelled people, used to staying in nice places, but this took our experiences to a new level. You just need to read the other reviews to get a feel for what makes Le Telfair special and, for us, every aspect of our visit was exceptional. We arrived around 8am to a warm and friendly welcome, after which we were encouraged to take breakfast and relax until such time as our suite was ready. Full changing facilities were made available to change into beachwear and by lunchtime we had been tracked down on the beach by our fabulous resident host Ashni, who, from that point on, pampered us with attention for the rest of the holiday. Anything at all that we required was channelled through Ashni - from golf and restaurant reservations to advice on activities and excursions to special requests relating to our room requirements - and nothing was ever any trouble. She was truly wonderful. Our beachfront suite was ten paces from the sand and ten paces from a small secondary swimming pool which meant it was quiet and sparsely used at most times of the day. The views were to die for and sunset shone directly on our beach front terrace - sundowners were never drunk in a more appropriate setting. Getting the picture ? I could go on and on but suffice to say everything was brilliant - the quality of the breakfast and food in general, the staff (with particular mention to Ashni, Ashley (our regular breakfast waiter) and Widley, who took us on a full day tour of the South of the Island in the hotel Range Rover and blew our minds with the beauty of the place. I may only have named three members of staff as they were the ones we saw most, but EVERY single member of staff was brilliant, demonstrating the true spirit of the friendly, ever-smiling Mauritian people. A very special holiday in a very special place, and we couldn't recommend it highly enough.

From the moment we drove through the large iron gates and up the beautiful long drive we knew that this holiday was going to be very special. The reception is elegant, charming and serene, which are the exact words we would use to describe the reception staff and the welcome they gave us. It is really difficult to know where to begin to describe this little piece of Paradise. The grounds are beautiful and very well looked after. The rooms are fabulously designed, spacious and very clean. Our room had the most amazing view over the Indian ocean, waking up every morning to sun, sea and fantastic coconut trees made us feel that we were actually in heaven. We were on the Gourmet Bliss dine around package. The breakfast area in Annabella’s restaurant was perfect, with everything you could wish for to start your morning. During the day you can do as much or as little as you want. Le Telfair has a fantastic activity centre with a wide range of things to do. It is worth going to the activity centre early in your stay to arrange an activity that takes your fancy. Le Telfair has a wonderful Spa which once again has a large range of treatments available. There are water sports available to please everyone at all levels. Lunch is available on the beautiful beach or in Annabella’s, Le Palimier or at the C Beach Club all serving from a sandwich to pizza to steak everything is excellent and very well presented. The Heritage Golf Club is championship standard. The course is simply outstanding it is very well maintained, very well organised and has some breathtaking views over the Indian Ocean. The golf club also have a superb lunch time menu overlooking the beautiful course. The selection and quality of restaurants for dinner is the best we have ever had. If we had to highlight a few we would pick, The Chateau which is almost a 300 years old Colonial Mansion. From the second you arrive to the moment you leave, you are made to feel like a special guest of the Chateau owner, with an outstanding 5 star menu. Ginja is a very stylish Asian restaurant right on the beach front serving the most amazing dishes. Another place to go is The Steak House, which is at the golf club only open on Thursday and Friday evenings, the quality of the steaks being first class. The single most important element which makes the Le Telfair so special is the staff. Every single member of staff we met was charming, smiling and above all wanted to make sure you were have a great time at their hotel and your every need or wish attended to. We want to mention a few, that for us, were extra, extra special in making our holiday perfect. Anita front desk assistant manager, who was so attentive and went the extra mile for us, resulting in our magical stay. Savelin, our butler who greeted us each morning to attend to our bookings and any assistance. At the Ginga, Geoffrey & Ashil. At The Chatau, Jimmy and all the exceptional staff and chefs. All that is left for us to say is thank you to Le Telfair for making our first trip to Mauritius so special with many fantastic memories and one of the best holidays ever!

Great facilities, great food options, beautiful beach location. We especially appreciated the kids club. We have an infant and a 7 year old. They entertained them while we were able to enjoy all the hotel had to offer. The grounds are nice too. One of the staff drove us around the villas and the golf course to enjoy the scenery. There are plenty of food options and activities to choose from. We've stayed at many different resorts around Mauritius, this was definitely the best. Will definitely be returning.
