Relaxing hotel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

Nice & quiet if you want to relax ! Large compound, you can either walk or use the buggy service (Thanks Avinash & one of his night colleague for the lifts & exchanges). Gym & pétanque playground OK ! Unfortunately very windy during our stay, no use of swimming pool (not a heated one plus it’s the only pool available). Security lady at the gate very welcoming, Shivani & Raj assured a warm welcome at reception area. Not impressed at all by the room, need some refreshing touches here & there coz getting a bit old. For a 5*, was expecting quality materials & surgical cleanliness ! Outside tub dirty. Comfortable bedding & quilt/pillow though. Mauritian night for the dinner buffet ! So so nice & mouth watering dishes ! Everything was perfect, Alain & the lady at farata/dalpuri bar were helpful & welcoming, had a nice chat with them. Large variety of everything even though it’s a small buffet, cater for both veg & non veg clients ! A lot of greenery in the hotel compound, well maintained. That’s a feel good point. A walk on the beach at sunset definitely tops the stay ! Enjoyable hotel but doesn’t live up a title of 5*, could have been a 4*.

Nice experience

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

Overall nice experience at the So/Mauritius hotel. Positive points: - Hotel is situated in a green setting - Good food (we’ve got a Mauritian buffet, the theme was respected). - Confortable bed. - Staffs always ask if everything’s is ok or if we need anything! Points to be improved : - Not impressed by the room for a five star hotel, - Only 1 coffee/person is offered in the room. Thank you to all staffs, special thanks to Avinash, Shivanee, Raj, Divya. Thanks to Alain from the restaurant who listened to our request for refilling the buffet.

Fabulous 5* Stay

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

Where do I start... OMG the bed 5* 🙌 this hotel has the biggest, comfiest bed I ever slept on. The most welcoming staff in the hotel that greet you by your name. We were welcomed on arrival by Divya guest relations who explained everything to get us started. Arrival was in the morning after our flight from UK. We were greeted in the welcome pavilion with a drink and holt refreshing towel whilst waiting for our buggy to main hotel reception. However rooms not available until 3pm usually but a shower facility in the spa can be arranged whilst waiting for the room. They will do all they can to make the room available for you ASAP. Once shown to our room, wow.! Massive bed, beautiful facilities, outdoor shower in a totally private courtyard, out door bath in a semi private garden (leads to the beach ) plus a proper shower etc in the bathroom, robes, slippers, dressing area, full length mirrors, hair dryer, towels, face cloths, toiletries... They've thought of it all. Magnificent. (room number 134) Restaurants-The food is lovely, there's always something to eat, the buffet changes daily ranging from Mauritian / Asian / Seafood /Mediterranean cuisine fusions. Breakfast is a also a delicious buffet. Waiting staff in the restaurant, particularly Levi are excellent and offer wine recommendations based on the cuisine on offer that evening. The bar staff are outstanding and so friendly. Jamy, Neelan, Amman to name but a few are just perfect hosts to brighten your already sunny day. Concierge Raj is a brilliant chap, helped us book our car hire with Europcar. Always checking in on us and making sure we are well and all is good in our stay. We came to celebrate our anniversary and a lovely cake was arranged and a light show in the bedroom in the evening which was a lovely touch. We used an independent travel agent with a ground handler to come here. The ground handlers Coquille Bonheur have been amazing. They were faultless at the airport on arrival, came to see us on our hotel, organised trips if we wanted them (we did Ile Aux Cerf with them I'll write that separately) it was outstanding and the driver was also your guide for the journey. Highly recommend them. Evening entertainment is a singer or 2 very chilled atmosphere, no 'show style' entertainment or Animation team. So if you're looking for loud brash 'all inclusive' holiday this isn't the place for you. But if you want superb comfort, top class service and a chilled relaxed atmosphere then I would recommend here. We would definitely come back.

SO an experience to live! We will be back!

The resort hugs you with its natural escape and allows a complete rest, cut from all stress. The front area is a clean, spacious and refreshing environment that immediately makes you feel at peace with the resort. Being Welcomed by the Front Office team and the General Manager was really heartwarming and they very professionally, gave a pleasant Kickstart to our short journey there. We have been by pampered by Nayesh, Divya, Avinash and Rakesh, making sure with their human touch, that our stay felt special. We sincerely thank them with all our heart. On our First day, lunch at Takamaka bar was exquisite and timely served. Their club sandwich was so consistent and delicious and we also highly recommend their chicken croissant. Also had chicken burger which felt a bit dry... Maybe the chef would want to opt for a crispy version or selection of signature sauces for those who would prefer not having grilled pineapple. We were then escorted to the room by Divya who carefully made sure we got all necessary infos and even proposed and booked a hamam session for us which was SO satisfying. A big thanks to her. Dinner at the buffet restaurant was full of options, and neatly set up. The buffet area is a bit narrow but undeniably, the food is excellent and the kitchen staff made sure we were being assisted and lack nothing. Coming back to our large, private and clean room to having a nice bath under the outdoor shower made the end our first night There, magical! The only uncomfortable aspect we encountered was with Rajiv from restaurant who felt a bit mean when he nearly ordered us to put a review for him while our lunch service went clumsy un the second day. Orders taken without server writing down, No bread served after ordering, Starters coming after our main courses and desserts order nearly forgotten... Plus having to come to the bar to have the check... Hopefully Kovilen with his professionalism and Neelam with her hospitality compensated this session by making sure that we were satisfied and finished our lunch in time. And also the possibility of having lunch literally 'pied Dans l'eau' was so relaxing. We highly recommend trying their cheesecake in this setup!! Overall we have had the most amazing weekend escape out there, SO, we surely will be back!
