Hi fellow travellers , This is in regard to theft in the hotel room during my parents stay in So Sofitel Mauritius Hotel. MY PARENTS HAD SUCH A HORRIFIC EXPERIENCE AT THIS HOTEL. PARADISE ON EARTH BECAME LIVINHG HELL ON EARTH FOR THEM PLEASE AVOID THIS PROPERTY AT ANY COST... THIS HOTEL CLAIMS ITSELF TO BE 5* BUT THE STAFF AT THIS HOTEL ARE BUNCH OF CROOKS & ROBBERS . We deeply regret planning a holiday to Mauritius and staying at So Sofitel Hotel. Despite choosing one of the renowned property in Mauritius, our trip become a nightmare for us. We had booked 11 rooms for the stay from 14th Dec 2017 - 20th Dec 2017. On the last night of their stay, 19th Dec 2017, there was a theft in their room (Room no -134) while they were sleeping. Following items were stolen: I Phone 6, I Pad Mini , Camera Nikon D60 with very high zoom lens, Currency When they woke up in the morning at 6.45 am, they realized that their personal belongings were stolen. When they complained about the same to the hotel, instead of helping them immediately, security manager came after 1.5 hours to inspect the room. Security manager acted as mere spectator and didn’t take any conclusive step. After continually insisting, he called the local police, which came around 11am. They requested the hotel management to scrutinize the CCTV footage. Even after having 90 cameras on the property, not a single camera was able to capture the activities that unfolded on that night. This evidently indicates involvement of hotel staff in the entire theft. The Deputy Manager – Director, Christine Souillac only came when they were about to check out from the hotel. It was worst experience one could have had while staying at a prime property. Because of poor security management at the hotel their whole trip got ruined and the entire group of 22 people was in a state of shock and were scared after the incident. My mother , even after returning to the safety of our home, is terrified to sit alone. This kind of incident is highly unacceptable from a 5 star property. This trip has caused both of them mental and financial trauma. We have filed an FIR (Reference no – 1732/17) at Belombe police station Mauritius, but as they had to leave Mauritius we could not follow up the complaint made by us. Despite many follow-ups we haven’t have received any feedback from hotel

My husband and I spent the last two weeks of November at this beautiful hotel on an all inclusive package. We fell in love with the beautiful rooms, extremely comfy beds and fantastic grounds that provide the backdrop to this amazing property. The water running around the bar and restaurant provided a lovely setting. The staff at this hotel are amongst the best we have met and nothing was too much trouble. They were very helpful at providing information about the island and about the Mauritian way of life. The food at both restaurants was really good and Nisha was always very helpful in the Flamboyant Restaurant and a real asset to the hotel. My husband was spoilt by the lovely lady who cooked his poached egg fresh every morning. We equally enjoyed the a la carte menus available at La Plage which were beautifully presented and tasted amazing. The cocktails in the Takamaka bar were addictive and all the staff there were so friendly that it was a great place to relax after a strenuous day sunbathing and then to sit during the evening to enjoy the live music which was provided nightly. Yannick, The guest experience manager ran a very professional department and was a lovely man who was very interesting to talk to. If you required any help getting taxis or organising trips outside of the hotel there was always someone to offer assistance. Rav and Dinesh in guest relations were always on hand to help out with any enquiries you may have. The pool was very relaxing and it was sometimes nice to stay there for lunch. The beach is only a short distance away if you prefer and the loungers were very comfortable. We had one trip to the spa for a massage which was also very relaxing and we loved the setting. We had 4 days out around the island while we were there and Mauritius is a very beautiful place. The local people are all very friendly and welcoming. We would definitely consider returning to this hotel as we loved our stay . We came home feeling very relaxed and pampered but it would not suit a couple who want a lively night life as the location is a little remote. It was however perfect for us.

The experience was quite good. To begin with some positive points, awesome room with outside bathtub, very comfy bed. Swimming pool water awesome, i think it is heated. Great cocktails. However, lack variety of food at buffets and not to standard of 5*. Quite a poor service too except for some staffs. I was offered a cake on our anniversary which made the moment even special. And not to forget the same, the architecture is just breath taking. Overall, i would definitely come again.

Had Pedicure, Facial and Reflexology and they were all absolutely brilliant. Relaxing and also effective. In particular Vimla’s treatments were great. Jess the manager was also very lovely and made me feel very welcome and looked after. This is how Spa’s should be!!! Thanks for an awesome time... Pam x

It's the most amazing hotel in the world! The hotel is very beautiful, decorated by Kenzo, stretched by a spacious pearl beach and a turquoise lagoon, surrounded by lush greenery and quietly gurgling streams. Love the combination of white, beige and green. Each room has a unique design, shower inside, shower outside around the trees and a bath outside in a private garden where you can relax, enjoying a total privacy. Because the hotel has 92 rooms, it doesn't feel overcrowded, but feels like an oasis in a desert. The territory of the hotel is extremely beautiful, I love nature and you can enjoy amazing plants around. The restaurant La Plage is amazing too. But the most fantastic is the best customer service! It's even better than in Shangri-La. We travel often but have not seen such a great customer service anywhere else! All members of staff knew the name of our little girl and helped out whenever they could. They played with her, walked around and let us relax while we were dining. Thank you so much Yanek, Raj, Quince, Anne Lise, trainee guy from the restaurant. You made our stay exceptional! The hotel is very family oriented. Kids club was very helpful! Our little one enjoyed it so much! Thank you Prisca you're an amazing tutor! And a special thanks I would love to say to Nisha! You are wonderful! Thank you so much for going an extra mile and for getting the soup recipe for us! Shame we didn't have a chance to say bye to Prisca and Nisha before we left. We stayed 8 nights at the hotel and were sad to leave. It was wonderful due to customer service! Every single member of staff is the best! We can't wait to see you again!
