Reviews for Beqa Lagoon Resort

Best Resort in the World!!!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

This is by far the best vacation I have ever taken. The rooms were very clean and well maintained. The beds were so soft, we all slept great. The entire staff are some of the nicest people in the world. They were very attentive, personable, so so so friendly and genuine. The food was fantastic, the diving was amazing! I just can't say enough great things about this Resort, I will absolutely be back, and I can't wait to bring more friends and family with me!

Gorgeous resort with amazing staff

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

Our dive group (Dive World Austin) went to Beqa Lagoon and had a terrific time. The staff are incredible. I cannot emphasize enough how the culture of caring, kindness, and going the extra mile is prevalent at the resort. The dive shop was also good with nice staff who were happy to answer questions, especially their director who was kind enough to explain the history of their program feeding the bull and tiger sharks. Definitely get a Lomi lomi massage from the spa. You won't regret it. Food was excellent which is a neat trick considering they are a small island off a larger island - chef did amazing things with the food. The rooms with ocean views are top notch- and amazingly bug free (except for some non-biting ants in bathroom) considering it is a tropical island (I think the toads help eat the beetles/roaches so I never saw any of those gross bugs). Maintenance were around all the time to take care of things (I didn't have problems but others did and it was fixed immediately). The staff who handled entertainment and activities were incredible- friendly and funny and genuine. Shore diving was amazing- going either direction yielded coral heads, tons of baby fish and even octopus. Due to rain that we had a couple of days the water was more cloudy than usual on several dives so if you can go during dry season (this was shoulder where it was going from wet to dry) to minimize that it would be ideal- still lots of soft coral and fish and eels and even saw a turtle.

Beautiful Resort, but won't be returning

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

We arrived on a Saturday for a 10 day group trip. We lead scuba trips for a living. We had heard lots of great things about this resort and the Cathedral Shark dive, so we decided to give it a try. This is our second time to Fiji. I will not be coming back to stay at this resort.  Pros: The resort is beautiful and on a flat area, so walking is easy for those with uphill walking issues. The staff is super friendly, as is everyone in Fiji, in our experience. The people of Fiji are I think my favorite of anywhere we have been. They are incredibly kind and accommodating. Massage- They were really great! We really loved the Beqa Lagoon Signature massage. Free Daily Activities- Church Service, Choir performance, Coconut & Weaving Show, Fire Walking, School tour, torch ceremony, local village visit, Fire Dancers, Jungle hike, Kava Ceremony, Cooking show and Meke Performance. There is a schedule, but stuff gets moved around a little, which can be frustrating, if you want to participate in something specific, and they move it. Cons: (This is quite long) We stayed in an upgraded family suite, which did not feel like an upgrade. Diving in general-  The hurricane hit their reef hard. There are patches of what we remember prior to the hurricane, but not what it used to be. We did see lots of fish, and we did enjoy many of the dives. There is lots of current and surge. When we were in Fiji before, on the other side of the main island, we didn't recall so much crazy currents. I am not sure if it changes by time of year or not, but be prepared. The shark dive was definitely an experience. Many of our customers paid to do it a second time. AC  issues- One room had a newer AC unit that worked great, the other room had a very old unit which only worked half the time. Several of our customers had issues with their AC as well. The resort sends someone to fix it, but sometimes it worked and sometimes not. Most of us did not feel the AC was adequate. Shower Water pressure & Warmth- We had NO water for the first 3 days, in the afternoons. No running water, or flushing toilets. They did get it fixed after that, but then customers in other rooms started complaining that they were having issues. There does not seem to be enough water pressure or warm water to go around. Drinking Water- There is absolutely no drinking water provided in the rooms to drink, or complimentary bottles of any kind. Luckily we brought bottles. The only drinking water is in the main eating area at one end of the resort. Of course there is bottled water to purchase. Internet: None is provided complimentary. We chose to pay for it, and it still cuts out and is not what we would consider a very good connection.  Drinks: Water and Juice at meals is free. Soda costs money. Alcohol is really over priced, $15 a drink. However you can buy a bottle of merlot for $20. Paths- These are not adequately lit, we found ourselves using a flashlight. There are large toads that would be quite uncomfortable to have stepped on, and land crabs. Extra dives- Too expensive, $220FJ for 2 tank boat dive. 2 tank shark dive $400FJ. Shore is free. Food- There is some inconsistency in the cooking. The first day was really good, then we found many of the foods to be overly greasy, which we are very sensitive to. Power issues- Getting adequate power to charge dive computers, dive lights, cell phones, laptops and headsets and camera batteries was challenging. My travel hair dryer blew up the first time I used it here. We had to move outlets several times, not sure why. Bring several converters. Power on hotter days seems to go in and out. Bugs- We used a whole bottle of bug spray on the two of us during our stay. We have never had to do that at another resort. We really try to avoid bug spray. We had to spray ourselves constantly. We had hornet type bugs in our room on several days. Dinner one night was absolutely unbearable. There were so many bugs crawling on the table and landing on us, that we couldn’t take it. Dogs- We LOVE animals. I understand not feeding them from the table for sure. We were told that all the dogs are not vaccinated, and they are not safe to touch. Some needed visible medical attention. PLEASE provide medical service for the dogs around the resort. Having them under the table, begging, was difficult and a fight broke out under the table due to a dropped piece of food. They all want attention and love, and it was really hard not touching them.

Top notch experience

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

I traveled with a dive group from Florida to this wonderful island. It was a spectacular experience. Everything from accommodations, food, diving, entertainment, and spa were well run. Our dive team was outstanding and took great safe care of us from Brandon, Nix, Navi and others. The soft coral and fish life is spectacular and we saw a Tiger Shark on our shark dive which had been rare due to rainy season. We enjoyed the cultural experiences- visits to the village and school. Every single person we encountered was kind and welcoming. Flo is a delight and keeps all things guest wise well run. Yes it is a long bus ride from Florida. I wished I had booked a second week in Fiji or headed to Australia but THAT is on me. The beverage and internet is very reasonable - it is a resort! I also bring my own hot spot to all international trips. I understand they will have a second week dive boat option in the near future. I hesitate to tell everyone as I plan to go back :).

We really loved our stay at the resort. The food and the staff where amazing. The group did 14 dives, and cannot speak high enough praise for the Dive Team. Loved the trip to the school and village, and the feeling at the resort that we where family. We have decided to another visit in 2026.

Best diving vacation ever.

My family and I wanted to expirence a trip of a liftime. Our trip to Beqa Lagoon Resort was exactly that. Everything about our trip was perfect. The people of Bega Island were the stars of the show. The children and the school were a very special part of the trip as well as the local residents who went out of their way to make us feel at home. It truly was a trip of a lifetime. Vinaka!

Food is really very good, including desserts - healthy, plentiful, fresh and well presented. The sunsets are million dollar, the diving is wonderful, there are even families of sea horses within a few meters of the shore in the peaceful little lagoon. It's an exceptional property - value for money, nature at its finest, kind hospitality and generous style of the Fijians. Beqa Lagoon Resort has no pretentious nonsense, and offers superb relaxation - no TV, no internet, no newspapers - idyllic disconnect in a wonderful paradise. And the bures (villas) are exactly as described. The attention to detail, the welcome song, the farewell from the staff, the placid lagoon, the slow pace...you really cannot find that everywhere, and it is hard to find in Fiji, and I speak from experience. This is a holiday opportunity that is genuine decompression from the intensity of a busy city. You'll likely see my name on that auction bid again!

Just got back from our honeymoon from Beqa and had a great time while we were there. The food is fantastic, the sunsets from our bure were amazing and totally postcard-worthy with our coconut trees leaning over the beach. Great value for what we spent compared to elsewhere in Fiji. The dive masters were absolutely the best and were so helpful in everything they did. A superb way to get away from it all—no kids / clocks / tv / internet / phone; there wasn't even an alarm clock (wake up calls were done by employees knocking on your door). All the employees made a lasting impression by living up to the "friendly Fijian" clique. The new spa is great and the therapist definitely knows what she is doing. Only downside is that your stay really depends on the people that are staying with you at the same time there. But overall my new wife and I had a great time.
